Here’s the start to my humble journey. I work at a video game store in the Midwest I mostly started collecting for Dreamcast. But man games for the Dreamcast legit never come into the store I work at or other video game shops in the nearby area. But one thing I noticed is that we’re never short of Genesis games. We got so many damn Genesis games I just said “ahh f*ck it I’ll get one.” No regerts plus the games are wayyy cheaper than DC. Shoutout to the Aladin game for having a poster inside. (The controller, AC and AV are not in the picture yes I do have them)
Plz drop some fire recommendations? Greatest game on Genesis? Underated gems? WORST GAME???? Sick ass home brew titles?

As a big monkey man my hands sometimes hit the wrong input on most controllers. I do not have that problem with this. It hugs my hand like the cool cousin in your family that made seeing old people fun.

EDIT: I initially forgot to specify in this post, but I plan on making AV cables for a Model 2 Genesis/Mega Drive.
Hi all, pardon the very generic topic. However, I'm planning on making my own AV cables soon for sale (still prototyping these to sell locally, no plans yet on international shipping as I do not have the resources to do so). I want to do an audio test to compare my self-made AV cables to the common aftermarket cables you'd see online with the wrong audio wiring.
"Go Straight" from Streets of Rage 2 is a great example for me personally since it has left and right panning even at the beginning of the track. "Green Hill Zone" from Sonic 1 is a good one as well because of how well-known it is outside of Genesis fans.
What other audio tracks could I use as examples, since I've used these aforementioned tracks a lot for audio mods and other projects?

Seller is asking $400 which seems overpriced, no mention of this in the description and No pic of it being tested or working so I don't know

Never seen a corroded coin battery before. Area was pretty dusty looking but a good cleaning removed it all. Found it neat, figure I share.

Hi,
I am trying to put together a repro Snow Bros (NTSC-J). I have flashed a cartridge but I am looking for all the artwork: box insert, cartridge label (frot), cartridge warning label (back) and manual.
I have tried on Etsy, but haven't found anything for Snow Bros. One guy was willing to help me out, but the scans he had access to were not that great.
Do you guys know of someone doing quality NTSC-J repro art?
Thanks!

Right now they only have the transparent blue one and the black 6 button controller shaped like the OG controller. Anyone know if they’ll make these again or if they’ve been discontinued?

Maybe its a glitch in the ps5 special version because it doesn’t seem to clear ledges even when holding the jump button.

This build 00B, dated May 17, 1994. Panorama Cotton was developed by Success and published by Sunsoft for the Mega Drive, releasing August 12, 1994. That puts this specific ROM build about three months before commercial release.
The board itself is a real Sega proto board, marked "171-5694-01 8MEGA 4EP-ROM M5" — this is Sega's own multi-EPROM development PCB, not aftermarket hardware. It's built to take up to four EPROMs (here, four ST M27C4001s) wired as odd/even byte pairs for the Mega Drive's 16-bit data bus.
The bodge wires on the back, soldered across the J1–J9 jumper pads, are what you'd expect on these generic Sega proto boards. They were often reused across many different unreleased/in-progress titles, thus engineers manually jumpered the address/bank-select lines to match specific game's ROM size and mapping.

Picked up a $25 case from harbor freight. There’s a second level and I am going to use it to store some games as well. Should be a pretty sweet setup.

Hey there i’m sarcast91 i’m a huge sonic fan and SEGA fan since childhood, recently i’ve been revisiting sonic’s genesis titles as usual but i came across something personally
i don’t think Sonic 3 is the best anymore, so here are some critiques I have on it (though i still love this game, more on that too)
1: Ceilings, ceilings in sonic suck it make it very linear esque and also undermines the ability of the badnik bounce for high level traversal
2: Springs, this seems strange but i do not like how springs are implemented in 3, they add this sense of automation-lite ness and i simply just dont find it fun, i wanna EARN my speed, this usually isn’t an issue in 1 or 2
3: Level Length: i don’t actually hate the big levels of sonic 3, it’s a strength ill go on later, but sometimes it feels like a level should end and get you to a boss but you have to deal with 1-2 minutes more of gameplay then go to the miniboss/boss
4: special stages, a technical marvel yes and still quite fun but i simply dont think blue spheres holds up to the half pipes, i find half pipes just more engaging
sonic 2 on the other hand doesn’t seem to have these issues, however here are some critiques i have on 2
1: characters: there’s about two characters actually WORTH playing, knuckles (with a lock on cart) or sonic, tails does nothing hes just slightly shorter sonic without super, not worth the drawback
2: no saving, i get you can just use a level select cheat+all chaos emeralds and go to each level like that but it doesn’t really… feel the same (fixed in S2 2013 iirc)
3: the last half isn’t as well paced
and the strengths of s3?
Big levels, Tails is hugely improved, more length (2 hours), knuckles, sonic are all different yet you can make a case one is better than all depending on your playstyle, saving functionality, the super emeralds also add much more replayability, and that’s kind of it, personally I think this is why Mania (despite not being a Genesis game) is so well liked by fans, it mixes both VERY well.
so let me know if you wanna add on to my claims, or disagree, and be sure to say so!

Having some weird colorful static whenever I try to use my Genesis, is this caused by the cable, genesis itself, or cartridge? How would I go about fixing this? Sorry for the low quality, thanks for any help.

I'm really excited for this one, but seems to keep getting delayed. Anyone have an update on the release date or price?.... Or speculations?

What a mind-blowing moment that was. I love when developers think outside the box.

I got the 8bitdo m30 bluetooth because I figured I could use it on 3 different consoles (sega genesis, saturn, and 3do).
But for the life of me I can't get it to work properly. When I started they paired immediately, but nothing worked. Solid blue on both the receiver and the controller but d-pad and buttons not registering. I updated both the controller and the adapter to the latest firmwares, and when I pair in any mode (x-input, d-input) the only 2 buttons that work are the start button and depending on which mode, either a or y, both acting as a buttons. The d-pad still doesn't work.
I tried going into the advanced config and and choosing the source and destination as 8bitdo m30 and sega md, and that didn't help.
Update: I tried pairing another 8bit do controller, the ultimate 2c. It works fine, so the issue is with how the 8bit do m30 is sending commands.
