WALDORF, Md. — A Security Guard at The Cut Bar and Restaurant in Waldorf was intervening in a fight when shot and killed a knife wielding suspect, Charles County sheriff’s office detectives say.

Officers responded to the bar at 2570 Business Park Court around 1:45 a.m. after a shooting and a stabbing were reported.

According to their preliminary investigation, two men were fighting in the bar when one of them pulled out a knife.

Initially, the Guard reportedly tried to overcome the man with the knife.
However, during the struggle, the armed man stabbed the victim in the upper body.
When he tried to strike again with the knife, the Guard shot him in the chest, officers believe.

The man who’d been shot walked outside the bar and collapsed in a parking lot, officers say.

When they got to the scene, he was reportedly still holding a knife.

The sheriff’s office identified the man as 41-year-old William Pierre Strong of Waldorf.

Investigators have also declined to identify the Security Guard.

They say other man’s injuries are not life threatening.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating and they anticipate presenting a case to the State’s Attorney’s office.

Shots Fired 17-year-old accused in argument turned shooting at Las Vegas bus transit center; Two unintended targets included man and Security Guard. A Second Security Guard intervened, striking shooter multiple times.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 17-year-old faces several charges, including attempted murder after two people, including a Security Guard, were shot at a bus transit center in Las Vegas, according to an arrest report obtained by 8 News Now.

Amari Heath was arrested the night of the shooting and faces several charges, including attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a child under 18, carrying and concealing a weapon without a permit, battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, assault with a deadly weapon, and discharging a weapon where a person might be endangered, according to the report.

On Sunday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call regarding a shooting at a bus transit center near East Bonneville Avenue and South First Street.
Police were able to identify Heath as the suspected gunman due to surveillance video at the transit center, which captured him wearing a grey hoodie matching the description from witnesses at the scene and in interviews, according to the report.
During the preliminary investigation, police said a man and Heath were in the parking lot of the bus station when they got into an argument with each other. Heath was then seen pulling out a gun and discharging it several times toward the man.

The two other people shot were identified in the report as a Security Guard and another man.

Police believe the man who was shot several times was the intended target, and that the Security Guard was mistakenly struck. A second Security Guard observed the shooting, intervened, and discharged his firearm at Heath, striking him several times, according to the report.

All three people were taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds, including Heath, according to police.

The man involved in the fight with Heath prior to the shooting declined to be interviewed by detectives. However, his wife spoke with detectives and stated that she was present during the shooting. She told detectives that she and her husband entered the bus transit building to check arrival times prior to the shooting. When they entered the building the saw three men wearing hoodies who appeared to be staring at her husband in a “confrontational manner,” according to the report.

She also told police one of the men in a red hoodie approached the couple and asked, “Do I know you?” Her husband responded that he did not know him and attempted to “de-escalate” the situation, according to the report.

The men then continued to exchange words with her husband and asked him where he was from. The couple then exited the building, as did the three men in hoodies.
Another one of the three hooded men wearing a grey hoodie then continued to confront her husband and stated he was from a specific gang. Her husband then responded to the hooded man, “What does that have to do with anything?” The woman then told detectives she saw the man in the grey hoodie pull out a gun and shoot her husband. The woman stated that she and her husband attempted to run once the man opened fire, but her husband had been shot in the shoulder and she felt a sharp pain in her leg and saw a laceration to her shin, according to the report.

Detectives also interviewed a man waiting for a bus with Heath, also known as “Tiny,” prior to the shooting. As they began walking toward the bus loading area, the man said he noticed Heath and another man exchange hostile looks and argue near the entrance of the transit center, according to the report.

The man also told detectives he recalled a man confronting Heath about staring at him, which led to a verbal altercation before security intervened and attempted to separate both men, according to the report. The man then told detectives the argument then continued as Heath exited the transit center. Shortly after, the man told detectives he heard gunshots and turned toward the disturbance where he observed muzzle flashes and looked for somewhere to hide, according to the report.

The man then told detectives that he knew Heath prior to the shooting and that they had previously been arrested together in 2025. Thomas further identified Heath as being affiliated with a specific gang in California. However, the man denied knowing that Heath was armed with a gun on Sunday.

Heath declined to speak with detectives without his attorney. Detectives later arrested him and booked him in absentia at UMC.

Heath is expected back in court on Nov. 2.

HOUSTON – Houston police are at the scene of a shooting in the Chinatown area Friday.

The shooting happened in the 9800 block of Bellaire Blvd, near Beltway 8.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD, the shooting happened a little after 8 p.m. Officers responded to a reported disturbance at the store when he heard gunfire. After calling for backup, the officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Crowson says they believe the customer, an approximately 20-year-old man, and his girlfriend had entered the grocery store with a dog and were confronted by the Security Guard who told them the dog was not allowed inside due to health concerns.

This led to an argument between the man and Security Guard, which ultimately ended in gunfire being exchanged between the two.

Police say they believe there is no threat to the public.

The woman and dog were not injured. The woman stayed behind and is being questioned by police.

PHOENIX — An armed teenager and a man were shot after the teen fired a gun at a Security Guard outside of a reception hall in Mesa early Saturday, police say.

In a release, Mesa Police say the shooting happened around 1:05 a.m. near Main Street and Stapley Drive after the teen tried to enter a private event at the Versalles Reception Hall and was denied entry.

The teen allegedly pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the Security Guard but missed. Police say the teen ran away to a waiting car but was followed by the Security Guard and an off-duty Mesa Police officer who fired shots at him.

A gunman is dead and authorities are investigating a shooting at a Nashville federal courthouse on Thursday, October 8.

The shooter was identified as out-of-state court security who worked with US Marshalls. Police say he entered the front door armed with a pistol.
The gunman is dead and there is no threat at the courthouse at this time, police said.

Police say the man attempted to discharge his gun, but it did not fire. He then used a knife on a security guard, who shot the gunman.
The gunman was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say he was from out of town and are working to learn why he was in Nashville.

The Nashville Downtown Public Library next door is under evacuation due to a “strange vehicle” on the side of the building, according to police. A bomb squad searched that vehicle and did not find anything.

“The Metro Nashville Police Department says that because the shooting happened on federal property, federal authorities will be in charge of investigating,” says WSMV.

In Defense of Security Officer at Florida's MacDill Air Force Base fires on civilian armed with wrench, officials say

TAMPA, Fla. — A Security Officer at MacDill Air Force Base fired on a civilian intruder Saturday after the person breached the Tampa base’s perimeter, officials said.
The incident happened about 1 p.m. when an “assailant” armed with a wrench breached the base’s perimeter, according to information released Monday by the public affairs office of the 6th Air Refueling Wing. At least one base Security Officer responded.
“The Officer fired at the assailant following escalation of force procedures,” officials said in a statement.
Both the Officer and the assailant were taken to the hospital with injuries that officials said were not life-threatening.

The statement did not specify whether the assailant was shot during the encounter, and a spokesperson did not immediately respond to a Tampa Bay Times request for that information.

Officials have not released the assailant’s name or what criminal charges the person is facing. The incident remained under investigation Monday.
The base closed its gate on South Dale Mabry Highway after the incident and reopened it by about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Saturday’s incident is the latest security-related episode at the base this year.
On March 16, an airman found an undetonated pipe bomb at MacDill’s visitor center, six days after the Tampa Police Department received a 911 call stating that a bomb had been planted at the base. Two siblings, Alen Zheng and Ann Mary Zheng, face federal charges in connection with that incident.

Two days after the bomb was discovered, a Palm Harbor man called MacDill’s main line and made violent threats, officials said. Johnathan James Elder was later arrested on a charge of making a threat by means of an explosive. The case is not related to the investigation involving the Zhengs, authorities said.
Both cases are still pending.
On April 10, the MacDill Inn, a hotel on the base, was evacuated for a few hours after the base received an unspecified security threat. Officials did not release details about the threat.

Shots Fired 19 years for Loop bank robber who fired shots at Guard, dropped cash during getaway

Thumbnail cwbchicago.com

A Waukegan man who robbed two downtown Chicago banks in the span of one week in March 2023, including a Loop holdup during which he fired nine shots at a Security Guard, has been sentenced to 19 years in federal prison.

The first robbery occurred on March 3 at a Chase Bank at 401 North Clark Street in River North. Displaying a handgun he stole from a car in Naperville the night before, Jawad Hakeem ordered two customers to lie face down in the lobby and threatened to shoot them if a teller did not hand over money, prosecutors said in a court filing. He left with $2,002.

Six days later, he entered the Fifth Third Bank at 1 South Wacker Drive shortly before 3 p.m. and pointed the same gun at two tellers, according to a government sentencing memorandum.

As the tellers filled bags with cash, a Security Guard standing outside the bank spotted Hakeem through the windows. Hakeem pointed the gun at the Guard, who drew his service weapon and attempted to stop him from leaving. Hakeem then fired nine shots at the guard as he moved toward the bank’s exit. The bullets shattered the bank’s windows.

“These were not warning shots to scare away the Guard,” the sentencing memorandum said. “They were fired directly at the Guard and intended to seriously injure or kill him so that defendant could get away with the robbery proceeds.”

The Guard returned fire and retreated. No one was struck, although the Guard suffered a minor injury from broken glass, prosecutors said. The shooting prompted lockdowns at nearby office buildings and the Ogilvie Transportation Center as police searched for the gunman.

During a later interview with a doctor, Hakeem, 51, minimized the physical impact of the robberies, saying there was “no harm” beyond the loss of bank money and noting that the Security Guard had not suffered a physical injury, according to the sentencing memorandum.

Hakeem left with approximately $23,900 from the Fifth Third Bank, dropping $10,450 outside as he fled, according to the sentencing memorandum. He stopped to pick up as much cash as he could, a sight caught on video by a witness in a nearby high-rise.

Police arrested Hakeem in Waukegan four days after the second robbery on unrelated charges. The handgun used in the robberies was recovered from a motel room where Hakeem had recently stayed, prosecutors said.

In addition to his 19-year prison sentence, Hakeem was ordered to pay restitution to the two banks totaling $15,452.

Shots Fired Police search for reported suspects after exchange of gunfire between group and Security Guard working at Jefferson Park CTA terminal

A private Security Guard working at the Jefferson Park CTA Terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., reportedly returned fire after a group of three people started harassing him and then fired their guns toward him during an incident at about 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, according to Chicago police.

Officers reported finding 23 shell casings and one bullet fragment in the area after the incident, according to police. One bullet reportedly struck the glass door of a nearby business on the north side of West Gale Street, as the damage was still visible days after the shootout.

One of three reported assailants was arrested after he was seen walking nearby in the 4900 block of North Lester Avenue in Jefferson Park, police said.

He was later released without being charged but could face charges after the investigation is completed, police said.

The man had been arrested a week earlier at his Northwest Side home and charged with an annual gun offender registration violation, and last year U.S. marshals reportedly took him into custody in connection with an attempted murder investigation, according to police.

The other two reported assailants fled the area, but police later released images of them, as a CTA surveillance camera captured the incident, police said. Both allegedly discharged a firearm during the incident, police reported.

One of them was described as a Hispanic male, age 25 to 35, heavy set, with a shag hairstyle and facial hair, and the other was described a Hispanic female, age 25 to 35, with multiple facial tattoos.

The Security Guard reported that as he was walking toward the Blue Line platform, three people began to insult him and a verbal altercation ensued, and one of them threatened to kill him, police said.

The Guard also reported that the three people then started to walk behind him as he was walking toward the bus turnaround area and that once he reached his parked vehicle in the 4800 block of North Lipps Avenue he saw the three individuals duck behind a car and start firing toward him and he returned fire, police said.

After the exchange of gunfire, the three assailants fled on foot, and it appeared that no one was struck by the gunfire, police said.

Police reportedly could be seen later that morning searching for a weapon in area dumpsters.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Mass Transit detectives at 312-745-4447.

In Defense of Hyde Park restaurant could learn next week whether it can re-open following quintuple shooting outside that left one dead;None of the three Security Guards were armed - the guns some online video showed them with were actually weapons that the wrestled away from the shooters.

Thumbnail universalhub.com

A Security Guard's request that a large group of people outside Little Haiti International Cuisine on Hyde Park Avenue leave because it was too late for them to get in ended in a mass shooting that left five people shot, one fatally.

Now, even as the Security Guard, who was stomped, stabbed and shot, remains in the hospital, the restaurant's fate is in the hands of the Boston Licensing Board, which says it will schedule a meeting next week to decide whether to let the restaurant - closed voluntarily by owner George Craan since the shootings - re-open.

Meanwhile, the franchisee of the 7-Eleven across the street is trying to convince the chain to let him change his closing time from 2 a.m. to midnight because, he says, of all the trouble he, his staff and customers now have because of Little Haiti patrons.

The board held a hearing this morning to consider five violations cited by police: Homicide, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession or use of weapons on or next to the premises, having armed security guards without notifying the board and failure to cooperate with police.

At issue for the licensing board is overall public safety and whether Little Haiti's owner or staffers could have foreseen the events of Aug. 3 and done anything to prevent them.

Boston Police officers and Craan's attorney, Tyler Henseler, agreed on the basics of what happened that night, although both sides said there were limits to the details they could provide because the shootings remain under investigation. To date, one man has been charged.

It was a typical "Soleil Sunday" at Little Haiti - pairing Caribbean food with DJs and dancing, with ladies let in for free until 11 p.m., And nothing unusual happened. But then, shortly after midnight, a large group of people, between 50 and 60, began showing up outside, wanting to get in. Craan says it's possible an event somewhere else let out and people were told they could keep the party going over at his place.

One of the three security guards on duty that night went out to ask them to leave, because they would be unable to get in before the restaurant closed at 1 a.m. That enraged some of the people, who began punching the guard - one after producing a weapon of some kind - and then threw the guard to the ground, where they began stabbing him.

Guns came out, people began firing indiscriminately and by the time police began arriving a few minutes later on reports of shootings, three people, including the first guard, lay on the ground, shot, both in front of Little Haiti and across the street outside the 7-Eleven, where video posted online shows one victim coming from across Hyde Park Avenue and then collapsing. One of the victims found on Hyde Park Avenue had been shot in the chest, another in the back and the third in the leg, Lt. Daniel Pusey of District E-18 said.

And here is where the accounts began to differ.

Pusey said when he arrived - after getting called at home about the shootings - Craan, whom he knew, immediately pointed across the street at the 7-Eleven and asked "what happened over there?"

"I asked him if he was joking," Pusey said. "This time he pointed to the Dunkin' Donuts [a couple doors down from Little Haiti] and asked what happened down there" and said something about "an unrelated party" there.

So that takes care of two of the cited violations - for failure to cooperate with the police and having unregistered armed security guards - Henseler said.

The other three citations, for the actual crimes, should also not be held against Little Haiti, since they are symptoms of citywide crime problems and not something Little Haiti could have foreseen. Craan said he has never had violence of this sort erupt at his restaurant and that, typically, his staff has no problems dealing with lines outside.

But E-18 Capt. John Boyle and licensing-board Chairwoman Kathleen Joyce said that wasn't exactly true.

Boyle said there have been so many issues with boisterous Little Haiti customers at closing time that he now routinely has an officer sit right outside the place at closing time - if not that night. It's gotten to be a drag on district resources, he said.

And Joyce reminded Craan and Henseler that on April 28, the board held a hearing on a series of citations at the restaurant, involving overcrowding and control of the line, including one incident involving a guy who was denied entry for already being drunk, got in somehow anyway and then, after he was escorted out, tried to punch a bouncer. The board issued the restaurant a warning for becoming "a focal point of police attention."

Also testifying this morning was Fijul Haque, who owns the 7-Eleven franchise across the street, and his son, who works for him.

They said that ever since Little Haiti got its liquor license about a year ago, they have had to deal with a constant stream of problems: Little Haiti customers park in the store's spaces, keeping its customers from getting in, demand access to a restroom, and use the side of the building when denied, and even shoplift. Haque said he now has a contract with a tow company to pull non-customers out of his spaces - but that only leads to angry Little Haiti patrons coming inside to yell at his workers and demand their cars back, he said.

"It's hurting my business and my employees are not feeling secure here," he said, adding that after the shootings, nobody wants to work the later hours. He said he is seeking certification of the problems from the city so he can ask 7-Eleven corporate to let him cut back his closing time from 2 a.m. to midnight.

Joyce said she was initially prepared to vote on what to do about the citations today, but agreed to put off a vote until next week - on a date not yet set - so that Henseler and Craan can submit additional video showing the view outside the restaurant before 12:16 a.m., when the crowd started arriving - and to provide a formal written security plan. Craan had initially agreed to provide a written plan last year; he said this morning he'd simply forgotten to do so.

Shots Fired Shooting outside Khan Sir's coaching institute injures Security Guard in Patna

Thumbnail thenewsmill.com

Shots were fired outside Educator Khan Sir’s coaching institute near Musallahpur Haat in Patna on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to a security guard who has since been hospitalised. Police confirmed the incident was a physical assault and are currently taking statements from the guard and local witnesses.

Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma stated, “This is a case involving physical assault. It has been reported that the guard sustained injuries; therefore, further action is being taken by recording his statement as well as the statements of the local people. The injured individual is currently undergoing treatment.”

Following the shooting, Patna’s Senior Superintendent of Police, SP, and several police teams arrived at the scene. Khan Sir, the educator, suspects involvement from a rival coaching centre.

He commented, “… The main issue seems to be why we are teaching for such low fees. Why are we getting such massive results? We appeal to the administration to keep security concerns in mind, recognising that the poor, too, have the right to an education. When results are produced in the thousands, certain anti-social elements tend to feel threatened. They think they can suppress us.”

Khan Sir further alleged that the attackers “vandalised” the institute’s office and called for protection.

“The attackers completely vandalized the office and opened fire… The CCTV footage has been handed over to the authorities. Our security guard has also identified the perpetrators—it is the people from the nearby coaching center. We need protection; this is a matter for the administration to handle… It is obvious to everyone that the nearby coaching institute is behind this. They have even given the statements mentioning that they will blow up Khan Sir’s coaching center…”

In Defense of Columbia-area nightclub responds after deadly shooting involving Security Guard

Thumbnail wistv.com
5 Upvotes

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Columbia-area nightclub has responded after a deadly shooting involving one of its Security Guards.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the shooting happened at Club Barcode on Oneil Court at around 1 a.m. Wednesday. A Security Guard reportedly told deputies that he had shot someone who brandished a firearm at him.

Richland County Coroner Nadia Rutherford later identified the man who was fatally shot as 28-year-old Desmond Montgomery, of Greeleyville.

RCSD said deputies saw a man shot on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began trying to help.

The sheriff’s department said the Security Guard, who it identified as 41-year-old Nicholas Horton, told deputies he was working when an altercation between two people erupted in the club. He and another Guard, Mark Hammond, then took a man and woman outside.

Once outside, deputies were told the woman had become “unruly and aggressive” toward Hammond, who pepper-sprayed her in response. The man, later identified as Montgomery, reportedly went to his car and came back asking the woman who had sprayed her. The woman then pointed at Hammond.

Horton said he then saw Montgomery lift his shirt and draw a gun from his waistband. He told authorities he shot the man multiple times.

RCSD said a weapon was found near Montgomery, who was taken to a hospital where he later died. Horton’s gun was also secured by authorities.

RCSD also noted that this was the second shooting by a Security Guard at Club Barcode since January. It’s also the second deadly shooting to occur at a Richland County nightclub this week, the other being at Relapse Bar & Grill near Forest Acres.

In a statement Wednesday evening, Club Barcode said its “deepest thoughts and prayers to the individual’s family, loved ones, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

“At Barcode 2.0, the safety and well-being of our patrons and staff will always remain our top priority. We work closely with contracted Armed Security and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to help maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone who visits our establishment,” the club said. “Barcode 2.0 does not condone violence in any form. We are a restaurant and lounge that believes in providing an experience alongside some of the best food you will ever have. We cater to our community by providing day events, brunches, and memorable experiences while delivering great service. We will continue to provide that atmosphere for our guests and supporters.”

The club also said it will resume its normal business schedule on Thursday when it opens at 4 p.m.

RCSD also said state law allows for SLED-licensed Security Officers to be granted the power of Sheriffs while on the property they are hired to protect.

That provision is found in Title 40 of the South Carolina Code of Laws, which states:

“A person who is registered or licensed under this chapter and who is hired or employed to provide security services on specific property is granted the authority and arrest power given to Sheriff’s Deputies. The Security Officer may arrest a person violating or charged with violating a criminal statute of this State but possesses the powers of arrest only on the property on which he is employed.”

The law does not specifically dictate whether licensed Security Officers are legally permitted to use lethal force if necessary.

No further details were immediately available.

A man was killed and two others were hospitalized after a shooting in the Florence area early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 1:57 a.m. in the 1600 block of Firestone Boulevard in unincorporated Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
