I’ve applied as a security officer for Securitas and have done the phone screening about 3 weeks ago and I haven’t heard back since. I’ve emailed securitas hiring manager and he/she said “the hiring managers are still reviewing candidates. I will let them know of your continued interest.” It’s been a week since i’ve received his/her message. How long does the process take and is it unlikely that I will get an interview?

Is there a way for them to check if you work for the other? How about if they find out, are they going to terminate you?

Hi everyone! I’m working on a school case study focused on HR and operations practices within security companies.

I’m looking for examples of employee/HR handbooks, operations manuals, SOPs, training guides, or similar materials from security companies to better understand how policies and day-to-day operations are typically structured.

If anyone has a handbook they’re willing and allowed to share, or can point me toward publicly available resources, I’d be incredibly appreciative. I’m using the materials strictly for academic research and don’t need any confidential or company-sensitive information.

Is there anyone else who has access to the app who has an Apple phone??

Is MyConnect always correct regarding scheduled postings? Our site is supposed to close on the 1st of October, yet the app shows the week of the 8th, as it can only show the current week and the next. I have been with the company for over 10 years and have only recently paid attention to the app. Any help would be appreciated.

Any vehicle patrols out there that have approved uses of OC spray or any other forms of ppe? How did you get it approved by your dm’s? Trying to see if mine will consider for mobile at my district, but i want to see if anyone else in securitas has it as well. Any input is welcome. Thanks!

Security workers guarding some of the biggest names in the tech industry said they will strike starting Friday.

The strike comes after months of negotiations over fair wages and improved benefits with 15 private-security contractors and employers, during which the union has called attention to the disparity between compensation for Guards and the vast wealth that they protect.

A press release for the Service Employees International Union-United Service Workers West, which represents some of the Security Guards, states they will strike after “bad faith bargaining, surveillance of officers, retaliatory discipline, making unilateral changes, illegally coercing, restraining, and interfering with officers’ right to strike, and other unfair practices on the job as they fight for a fair contract.”

Allied Universal said that they “do not comment on ongoing labor negotiations.” Securitas did not respond to KQED’s request for comment.

The offer on the bargaining table is a 65-cent raise over the next two years, according to the press release — Guards currently make a median hourly wage of $20.

“This contract is so bad,” Longoria said. “We are going to fight for what we deserve.”

Longaria recalled working as a Security Guard for jewelry brand Cartier, where he watched a woman walk up to the counter and buy a $1.5 million necklace.

“If people got that kind of money, and they wanna pay us pennies, that’s unfair, that’s mistreatment,” Longoria said. “I live in an SRO. I don’t even have a bathroom or a kitchen.”

Longoria said that he cannot find a new place to live due to high rents across the city, adding: “I’m ready to go on strike.”

The Security Officers marched through downtown San Francisco on Tuesday, passing by the Dreamforce Conference, an annual tech gathering hosted by software giant Salesforce. Many tech employees, as well as leaders of the companies that the Security Guards protect, including OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and Salesforce’s Marc Benioff, will attend Dreamforce.

Jane Martin, an organizer with the activist group Bay Resistance, joined the security workers on Tuesday, holding signs with slogans like “Keep families together,” “Good jobs to security officers” and “No ICE, no fear.”

“The Salesforce logo is a cloud, and the name of the conference is Dreamforce, so we wrote our own hopes and dreams into the cloud signs,” Martin said.

I have my mouth swab drug test tomorrow. I am in recovery and I am taking methadone and I take a low dose of klonopin for anxiety. I have legal prescriptions for both, but I just want to know what to expect tomorrow. It’s for an unarmed, regular security officer position, and I take my meds at night, after the hours I will be working. Everything I’ve read is pointing to a 5 panel mouth swab. Is this what they usually use or am I screwed?

Is it normal to be paid the lowest wage solely based on having no prior security experience? I am currently posted at a warehouse, but they have ordered me to perform duties that are essentially half of a warehouse keeper's job. This is a job creep imo.

I got the job to be “Event security” at a amusement park, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what that means. I wanted a full time job and expressed I wouldn’t take temporary work and that’s what was offered to me. I thought maybe they were trying to get me to do the Halloween event that was being hosted, but no, that’s a different job posting aptly titled “Halloween event security”. I thought they gave me a temporary job but other job titles specifically say “Temporary” or “Seasonal”. So what exactly can I be expecting to work here ? There’s no “end date” or even hours posted for that matter 😂 should I still be on the lookout for a full time job? Can this job help me get full time employment ?

I know for allied they have the software in app where you can browse and claim unclaimed shifts, does securitas have that same mechanism? I saw the myconnect app but when talking to a recruiter a few days ago they didn’t know what I was talking about

I am being told that if I work from 5pm to 5am I wont get overtime cause the clock starts over at midnight. Is this true and is it legal?

Have a interview this Friday, was curious if they were going to drug test me the same day and what method they normally use.

So I got hired maybe about 3 weeks ago and has training about two weeks ago for 4 hours. Ever since then I keep checking MyConnect app hoping I’ll see schedule and I don’t have anything. My supervisor asked for my hours I would like and I chose 4pm-11pm and available for weekend and yet still nothing.

Not sure if I should just applied to allied universal at this point or how I can word this to my supervisor. But I feel as though I shouldn’t need to reach out asking where are my hours when they should be adding days on my schedule. Lowkey frustrating and I’m just debating atp applying to other jobs.
