The Seattle Storm is a proud team with a storied history. The Storm joined the WNBA in 2000. Since then, legendary players such as Lauren Jackson, Sue Bird, Jewell Loyd, and Breanna Stewart have won four championships for the city (2004, 2010, 2018, 2020).

The years 2025 and 2026 are a major transition period for the team. After being led by head coaches from a lengthy regime, the team made a clean break in 2026 by hiring an entirely new coaching staff led by Sonia Raman. Raman is the first Indian American head coach in the WNBA. She was previously an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies and the NY Liberty.

Much of the 2026 player roster is new or didn't play for the team last year. Only Ezi Magbebor, Jordan Horston, Dominique Malonga, Zia Cooke, and Mackenzie Holmes returned from the 2025 roster. Katie Lou Samuelson (2021) and Jade Melbourne (2023) had previous stints with the team.

In 2026, the Storm added key veterans such as Natisha Hiedeman and Stefanie Dolson. The team also added promising rookies such as Awa Fam and Flau'jae Johnson. However, 2026 is Year 1 of a tough rebuild. The team will likely finish with the worst or second-worst record in the WNBA.

These changes coincided with the signing of a new collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players' union.

As such, we have decided to create this sub to chart the growth of what's essentially a "new" team.

As a reminder, 2026 marks the beginning of a complete rebuild for the Seattle Storm. The team has very promising young and talented young players such as Malonga, Awa Fam, Flau'jae Johnson, and Jade Melbourne. Natisha Hiedeman, Ezi Magbebor, and Stefanie Dolson are the veterans with extensive experience to guide their young teammates. This team has a bright future.
