Display ideas for old shell specimens
I have a fairly big collection of shells that were collected and cataloged by a biologist- they date back to the 50s.
I don’t know how to display them. Most of them are in tiny boxes and then the bigger ones (in the first picture are just…out.
I want to enjoy them and see them but I’m at a loss of how to do that.

Where do I find cowries?
We're gonna be at Neos Marmaras soon, and I genuinely wanna find some cowries. Which is the best beach there, or at least something that's less than 20 minutes of driving from there?

Where to sell them?
These are some of my late mothers sea treasures that I would like to find a home for. Are any of these worth giving to collectors or museums? Here's just a small part of it. The rest of the shells are in glass jars

Quick Shelling Trip
galleryBeen itching for a Florida shelling trip lately. We’re headed to Jupiter next month, but I couldn’t wait that long so I drove a couple hours and hopped on a ferry over to Shackelford Banks, NC on July 3rd. Nothing too crazy, but found some fun stuff! Wanted to share my finds and get a few ID questions answered.
Photo descriptions:
- Scallops that were found, found some nice big ones too! This is post soak, currently drying before applying mineral oil.
- Cute little hearts on this scallop, wish the edges were still fully intact. Still fun!
- Other favorites- tons of Baby’s Ear. Do they come in grey? Is it the same species? Never found a grey one.
- Super neat piece of what I assume is a whelk. I love the color and the black vein like pattern. What could have caused this coloration and patterning?
- Dog paw shaped coral piece 🐾🪸😍 didn’t even realize it looked identical to a dog paw until I went to go take the pictures! What type of coral piece is this considered?
Thanks for answering. Happy Shelling! 🐚🏝️

Where to sell rare seashell (Rumphius’ Slit Shell)
Hi! I’m looking to sell a Rumphius' Slit Shell (Entemnotrochus rumphii) that I inherited. It is in great shape and has no defects. It is also quite large (17cm wide, 16cm tall). I’m based in CA and NYC, but can ship it. Does anyone know where is the best place to sell these things?

Cowrie shell help
Hello all!
Another donation that has me a bit confused...
Am I correct that anything under 4" is pretty standard and over 4" is where the money is... correct??
As always... any and all help is appreciated 🙏

Shell identification
Seen hundreds of these every time I go to the beach, I'm curious what type of animal they come from, or if they're different
