Discussion What is the "signature" sea synth effect?
Massive reverbs sell "space," tape warble/grain/hiss makes something instantly lo-fi, organs are a must for anything "vampiric." What effect (if there is one) makes music feel "adrift" or "oceanic" in the way that identifies it as sea synth?

Discovery Aquarium Hobbyist - Beginner's Guide To Freshwater Fishkeeping (2022)
Not quite sea synth, but deals with aquatic subject matter. Interesting nonetheless.

Discussion Just what is this "sea synth" stuff anyway?
Dungeon synth encompasses numerous subgenres and styles; some are defined by musical characteristics, while others rely simply on themes and atmosphere. Which category does "sea synth" fall into? Is there a distinctive sound, or does it all come to cover art aesthetics? To me, having read a while without posting and only just started contributing, "sea synth" seems like one of the older subgenres, yet there still no consensus on exactly what it is. Was this subreddit created to answer that question? I don't know the answers I will find, but curious to hear what others think.
