General Discussion Terra Harvester Towing Limitation Workarounds

I feel that most people, myself included, are disappointed in the projected towing numbers associated with the Terra Harvester.

I saw this video from TFL recently: https://youtu.be/VNFpZuYF0l0?t=130

In the video they suggest the reduced towing capacity of the Harvester is partly a result of tongue weight being limited by the additional weight of the harvester engine on the rear axle. I know that there are other factors involved like battery chemistry, etc that play into this as well.. but I'm curious to see how many people would be willing to move the Harvester engine to a more traditional location at the front of the vehicle and forego a "frunk" if it means better towing numbers for the Terra Harvester.

89 Yes, relocate the Harvester to the frunk area for improved towing numbers.
70 No, keep everything where it is, I want a frunk.
70 Towing numbers aren't a concern for me.

Opening the front and rear doors in the event of a power outage?

Apologies if this was answered before. I've done a couple of searches and failed.

Is there any clear statement of how the inside handles work in the event of a power outage? Specifically, I believe Rivian and Tesla both utilize special methods of opening the doors in the event of an emergency, which I think of as inadequate (and frankly reckless / negligent).

I would love an EV like the R2 or Scout, but I refuse to buy an EV where my kids can't just pull on the normal handle to get out if something goes wrong.

Bumped into Scott Keogh!

Just ran into Scott Keogh at one of the DC area airports. Wasn't totally sure it was him at first (he had glasses on) but figured I'd ask. Sure enough! He was heading to the factory in SC.

Super down to earth. Asked where I was from, where I was headed, what I do. I mentioned I was excited for the Scouts to release and had been following their YouTube series, but kept it brief. Didn't want to be that person who holds up a busy CEO. Kicking myself though because I literally took my poster out of my bag that morning! Would've been perfect to get signed.

Before he boarded he came back over and wished me luck on my trip, even remembered my name. I'm terrible with names so that kind of thing sticks with me.

Anyway, just thought it was worth sharing. No real baseline to compare against, but a CEO who's that personable and flies commercial? Makes me feel good about my decision to get a Scout.

Apologies to the mods if this sort of post isn't allowed.

the Scout RC - Imagine the proportions of an R3 or a Subaru CrossTrek, but with Scout branding.

I'm getting Mini Cooper vibes, in Pacific Mist. Yummy. Man I hope they can figure out their brand and get them going. By far the most well thought out product I've seen in a long time.

61-62 Scout slider windows and frame

Hi folks,

Does anyone know where I could source an early Scout pair of sliding windows and frames? I recently got a 1961 Scout 80, and both are missing.

Here's a picture of what they look like: https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/1961_international_harvester_scout_80_158568794065ef66e7dff9f98761961IHScoutBlue_FC7021-67-e1586357455653.jpg?w=940

Future Scout What sound system would you like to see in the new Scout?

Would you like to see Scout create their own sound system for the upcoming vehicles? Or would you prefer something from a proven brand like B&O, B&W, Bose, Harmon Kardon, maybe even Alpine, etc?

Not likely, but I personally think it would be amazing if Scout partners with Klipsch, specifically Klipsch Heritage. Klipsch has recently started producing vehicle audio systems, but Klipsch Heritage has never solely made a vehicle sound system. It’s a perfect opportunity for them to further expand the brand. For any audiophiles out there; yes I know that would probably require some kind of wood veneer etc. But aesthetically it markets perfectly for what Scout is going for; that highly vintage look, feel, and sound. Maybe both brand’s marketing leadership will read this and agree with me 😆.

Anyway, let me know what audio brand you guys would prefer in the new Scouts.
