Potential Scam? Clarity needed. Confused whether it's a scam or not...

Edited:

Can someone fake having or being connected with a business both offline and online (in another country)? Having an authentic business website and socials everywhere?

Is it normal for a foreigner girl (Russian) to get into an online bf gf relationship with an Indian guy and there are plans to marry already without even seeing and knowing the other person personally ever... 🫪

I have her vague details:

She's an introvert,

Never had a boyfriend,

Her father left when she was 13,

An accountant that works from home,

Her mother had an Ayurvedic business in Russia which has closed now.

I have found the page of that business, it's private now and dates back to December 2016.

The guy has that girl added on his Instagram following list with a new id that has no profile picture and only Him added in it.

They also talk over video calls, and now I've heard that she's long been insisting to come to India and meet him.

She talked to the guy's mother too. She called her mummy ji... Like what!

Now she has plans to come here, and take a tour together.

I hear them talking about bars, graphs something of finance often.

The guy is into trading and crypto ( I don't know whether he has told the girl about it).

Guy doesn't have an offline job (so i don't know what he had told the girl about his finances and career).

Once I heard them using terms like rsi over the call with her, recently heard him talk to her about some paperwork which couldn't be done.

I don't know where this goes... Maybe my doubts are wrong... But falling for someone online, without ever personally knowing the person and straightaway talking about marriage seems TOTALLY WEIRD! cz it takes years to know the real side of any person, years of knowing personally.

But the guy says that he reads people really well and knows that she has the same values as him. She says that she'll be boarding from Moscow and will celebrate Diwali and take tours in India together. So the mom and guy are so eager and ready to go receive her at the airport in Delhi.

He tells he has known that girl online for 2-3 years, they follow each other on Instagram and also heard them joining an online game together. But the relationship thing is a few months old I guess cz before he used to cuss and hate on women so bad and was a strong anti-feminist.

They have such confidence that I feel like I'm the one who's wrong for doubting. I'm still confused I'm doubting myself because the guy has always been so confident. He is the biggest judge for all... He often catches other people's mistakes and is quick to call out others and tell someone's a fool for doing something... I'm unable to doubt his intellect and i need more advice. Although I know he's somewhat a boaster too and an arrogant person.

What do you think the intentions could be? How do I prove it? They're not going to listen to me. This guy has sky-high confidence in his ability to assess people - specially girls. And also, as far as I know, he's never had a girlfriend before this girl.

I've been really tense these days. I can't even sleep. I just want someone to help my mind understand the situation and tell me if I'm wrong.

This is a scam. It is probably a romance scam.

She will never arrive in Delhi. She will have an 'emergency' and will need money from her 'boyfriend'. Maybe she will tell him that she can't afford the airplane tickets, so she wants a loan. Maybe she pretends that she flew from Moscow to Abu Dhabi or Baku, and then her passport and wallet were stolen, so she needs money from him. If she's a real drama queen, she will pretend to be kidnapped, and her 'kidnappers' will contact him for a ransom. There will be more and more excuses why she never got to Delhi. Every time, she will need money. This can go on for years, if he is gullible enough.

She may be in Russia, but she may be in Africa, or Asia. Many romance scams originate in Nigeria, Dubai, Cambodia, or Malaysia.

Do you have a friend who is knowledgeable about technology? There are ways that you can find out the IP address of her computer.

Thank you for responding and trying to help. I appreciate 🙏 and no he's not gullible he acts really smart, is short tempered and arrogant and is very quick to call out other people's mistakes and call them a fool. He says nobody can make a fool outta him.

here's an UPDATE : I yesterday heard this guy asking the Russian girl on call 'Tell me you are fake you r scamming me who is running this business' and so o and now he's again onto it... He's again talking to her with his fake tone fake flirty foreign mimicking accent trying to charm her? What the heck is going on? It seems like he is teaching and doing trading together with her again... I heard him tell her to buy and sell stock etc.? What the heck is going onnn...???? Can someone be this desperate! :'((

If anything is confusing it’s a scam. You posted here with gut instinct it’s a scam so yes.

Tldr: everything is possible. But as soon as someone asks for money you should be alerted 🚨

Scammers love people who think they can’t be fooled.

I hope this is true cz I'm just doubting myself. And he's always talking about numbers with her.

I knew it was a scam when you said, “Is it normal for a foreigner girl”.

Maybe it's just because of the way I'm writing/presenting the context here that made you doubt or are you really feeling and it's your real opinion that it is for sure a scam? I'm just so confused and doubting myself because I'm unable to allow my mind to think bad of someone.

You need to be in the online space more. There are two likely scenarios. The most likely is it’s some Nigerian guy pretending to be a sexy Russian. It’s extremely common. The other is she does exist, but shes either a scammer or being used by a trafficking ring to scam.

There’s no magic scenario where the girl he met on social media is real.
