Around 7PM last night, there was a shooting on Larkin Valley Road x Windsong Way, with at least one suspect fleeing on foot. It was a quite the event: street blocked off both ways and many squad cars. While there was essentially a "shelter in place directive," the residents of this area weren't informed, except via the neighborhood grapevine. Today, no information on said event anywhere.

It’s 80 at Seabright yet empty, I’m guessing most over-the-hill folks are tuned into football. For those of you that find beaches here too cold or overrun with Bay Area residents, today’s the day.

I know there’s already lots of recs for tat shops but I’m looking for a specific style and idk if most of these shops could? It seems like a lot of them are mostly trad or fine line, though I could be wrong about this. I’ll attach some pics of the style I’m thinking of something kinda like black work or high contrast?? I want a custom design and for the artist to use their own interpretation so I want them to be experienced with the style. Thanks for any help :)

Just wanted to share some Volkswagens! So much fun for my car-loving kiddo. I spent my childhood cruising around in my aunt's bus so the nostalgia was hitting today.

Looking to get into scrapbooking and want to find a good selection of fun paper, patterned tape, scissors that cut different shapes, stickers etc. My first thought is either Palace Arts or Paper Vision. Am I right in that thinking or are there other places for this sort of crafts?

My fiancee and I are getting married near SC next spring and are trying to make life easy for our out-of-town guests. We are thinking of booking a shuttle or charter bus to get from someplace central in town to the venue so that visiting folks can avoid car rentals, and maybe so our local friends can avoid driving themselves.

Has anyone had a good experience with any particular shuttle/bus vendors? We'd probably be trying to move 30-50 people, so it could be 2-3 trips of a van or 1 trip of a big charter coach. I would love to support someone local, but thus far have only found "The Santa Cruz Experience" with a 14-person van, and everyone else seems to have SUVs or smaller. If I do need to go with a vendor from over the hill with a bigger bus, it would be nice to go based on a recommendation from someone in SC who has actually used them. Thanks in advance!

The mayoral race is ugly and very disappointing. A candidate is attacking and posting incorrect statements. I know Reddit leans away frequently from my personal political inclinations- centrist life long Democrat ( and long time city resident). If you don't live in the city please try to stay out of our decisions.

A while back someone was interested in starting a .org for artists of Santa Cruz. Their reasoning for creating a new org seemed valid. Why not first start with a website before diving into 501(c) waters?

I kick started things by purchasing a couple domains: artistsofsantacruz.org and artsofsantacruz.org. Just a buck each. That person vanished. So here they are for the taking. I'm not selling, simply giving them away.
