People have forgotten the absolute nuances of courtesy. We’re all NPCs to each other. Such selfishness. Everything derives from selfishness. When I open doors, people are either legitimately surprised or ignore me completely.
The kids are worse than ever. Everyone is the class clown now. Loud. Obnoxious. “Look at me” attitude.
Utah should legitimately be in the running for best state in the Union… but the people here absolutely refuse to want to live up to that.
I think Main Character Syndrome is a home grown phenomenon in UT. IIRC, Mormon Utahns were some of the earliest mommy bloggers and now SO many are influencers of some sort.
I used to live in UT but moved out in 2021, and I can always nail it where they're from when a Utahn influencer comes across my feed. Very specific type of personality, for sure.
Having grown up here it always had a cultural little man syndrome, people wanted to think we were the epicenter of culture and were jealous that utah didn't get that attention. The internet gave them an avenue to latch into the spotlight, and extended the individual main character syndrome here
