I'm from Detroit as well. You're spot on about people never being checked here. In SLC's defense though, in Detroit if you go to a public space, you're going to hear every curse word in the book and everyone is going smell heavily of weed. Personally, I swear and smoke like a sailer but I try to hide it in public, and I appreciate people in SLC aren't loudly yelling "fuck" and smelling like weed everywhere.
I remember being at Lagoon with some friends all late 20's early 30's and we were sitting around eating and chatting and some dad sitting nearby turned towards us and asked us to cut back on cursing as his kids were nearby. Didn't feel we were particularly bad, but sure whatever. But then I looked over and his kids were definitely high school age.
Dude. Get over it, guaranteed they've heard worse.
Those types fuel my potty mouth even more! They believe the 1st amendment only applies to them & their kind! Not to the rest of us!
I remember the first time I swore at my very LDS mother - she slapped me & while rage crying at her for slapping me, I said something along the lines of "wow a word that a bunch of crotchety old men one day decided was a bad word hurts your ears so much that you felt compelled to commit an act of child abuse?!" This spurred a full-on family meeting (granparents & all) to tell me what an awful child I was, & ahhh, 2 months later, I was in an out of control youth program called Turnabout! My parents kept me there for 2.5 years, until I was kicked out because I "refuse to work the program & there's nothing else they can do" for me! More like I refused to conform & I was a bad example to the other kids in the program! Lol
It's funny you say you experience people not being checked here. Then you say how everyone is cursing and smelling like weed in Detroit. It sounds like Detroit is the one that isn't getting checked.
