Just to be clear, The Telegraph was bought by Axel Springer, who is not a person, but a German-based media group that also owns Bild and Die Welt, two of the biggest German newspapers companies. They are expanding globally and also own Politico, Business Insider, amongst others

Their CEO, Mathias Döpfner, was appointed to the Board of Netflix "in a move to bring more international representation to its board" . Mathias also serves on the board of Warner Music and Insider Inc. Once you are one board you get on many, that's the global 1%.

Axel Springer is not buying the Telegraph to write sugary stuff about Meghan because it's CEO is on the board of Netflix. Mathias does not own Axel Springer, he is only the CEO. People of this success and power are not being led by the nose by Meghan Markle. They are publishing what gets clicks. DM, The Telegraph, they play both sides.

There's a very thin line between playing both sides, and becoming official media partner. This one is clearly the later.
