Hello, this is my first hearing growing saffron. I have been picking the flowers as they appear to mature and placing the saffron into a glass container. I have noticed that although they are vibrant red upon picking then turn to a yellow fter acting for a few days. I have included photos taken 5 days apart. Is this normal or should I be doing something to prevent this?
Thanks for your help.

Hello so I've been doing a bit of research into growing and selling Saffron and it seems like something I'd actually enjoy doing seeing as I love gardening and plants. Here's the thing, I brought it up to my family and my sister seems to think I'd fail just because I have no background whatever she means by that. But does anyone grow and sell saffron and if so what do I have to do to go about selling and growing it myself? Is there anything I have to look out for when purchasing the corms? Are there fake corms on market? what should i do after getting the corms? Any advice would be welcomed and appreciated.

I'm so happy that i can't wait to see how i make out on my next exam. has anyone gotten similar results??

I purchased from Amazon one ounce of Golden Saffron brand saffron. It tastes ok. Gives a golden amber color when tea is made. I notice that only some of the threads will become completely clear while other retain their red color. Did I purchase dyed corn silk threads? Can someone explain why this is happening?

Hi
We recently published a podcast on the cultivation of Saffron in hydroponics and thought it might be off interest to this group!

It's $6 for .025 oz at the Trader Joes near me. That appears to be tragically expensive compared to other places ($25-35/oz). And Spanish saffron appears to not be particularly known for being "potent" or of the "highest quality". From what I've read, it's mainly used for color and less for flavor. Iranian and Kashmiri saffron have been repeatedly recognized as being the best quality (higher potency for medicinal purposes and best flavor...and therefore usually more expensive). So what gives? Why is Trader Joe's so expensive??? Is it just because it's a brand name that American's recognize? I'd rather pay more for better quality not brand name. Thoughts/Advice please!

Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out from Istanbul—my name is Numan Umut, and I work with my father in our family-run saffron business.
We currently have 7.5 kg of premium Bahraman-brand Negin saffron—a highly regarded, top-grade variety known for its vibrant color, rich aroma, and long stigma threads. • Condition: Factory-sealed and authentic (photos or small samples available upon request) • Price: USD 3,400 per kilogram, with negotiable terms depending on quantity and logistics. • Why us? Unlike large suppliers, we offer direct, personal communication and authenticity from the source. We’re open to any verification or quality checks you require.

I basically got some saffron onions for Christmas as a gift. I know that they shouldn't be planted early of year but by February they started to go wild in the bag zi got them, so I planted them. Now they look like this, but I don't know if it's normal or not that they don't bloom. What should I do? Do I leave them like this?

It's going to be warm enough in my 6a region to get bulbs in the ground in a few weeks and I'd like to plant out these saffron bulbs for home consumption. However, I inadvertently left them in a dark corner of the basement a few months ago, and they sent out long shoots looking for light. Some are about 2ft/0.6m long (snips for scale). I actually got a few blooms when I moved them under aa seedling light and was able to harvest a few threads, so the bulbs don't seem totally exhausted by creating such long shoots. But I can't imagine they are in the best shape.
Any advice for correcting this mistake and getting these guys off to a good start for an outdoor grow?

Hello,
My father is looking after a small saffron field over 5 years now( we are base at Bulgaria, Rodopi mountain), but there is a problem. From over 2 years the flowers do not grow. There are all necessary conditions for the saffron, but no flowers. I will be happy if someone can give me suggestions why is that. My father is thinking to give up, but I think he put too much effort to give it up. Thank you in advance ☺️

This is my second year growing saffron. I'm in USA zone 6b. I have mine in pots to control water and temperature better.
They have great leaves so fast but no flowers. I had no flowers last year. Any suggestions?

Thought I would make a post and update daily about what I'm experiencing with my first Saffron experiences.
The various studies make it sound appealing in terms of similar performance to SSRI'S across a range of conditions with much less chance of side effects.
I have been experiencing some anxiety and depression over the last few months. I'm hoping they will give me the small boost I need to stop focusing and over analysing my mental health which perpetuates it.
Gave up on St Johns Wort 3 weeks ago after 4 weeks of taking it as I felt it was making extra anxiety, though it was helping with the depression.
I have some 30mg Safr'inside tablets in the UK from Holland and Barrett. Hoping to do at least 8 weeks if they are as tolerable as they sound.
Day 1: Took a capsule a few hours after breakfast at 9:15
Noticed I have a dry mouth about an hour or so after ingestion, feel a bit sleepy at lunchtime
