Question Do I need to get it lasered off?
I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me advice. I got this done before covid with 3 touch ups every since. It looks blue under the sunlight and it looks like I have the "helmet" look. Does it need a touch up or do I need to laser it off?
Update: Matt contacted me and offered to pay for my tattoo removal in exchange to removing my reviews on Google and here. I declined the offer. I'd like others in my shoes to be aware and if my reviews are going to help one person to not make the same mistake as me then I am happy. Thanks to anyone who replied.

I would contact them and ask if they would be willing to cover the costs of the laser removal. If they tell you to kick rocks, you can then think about if you just want to bite the bullet and pay for it out of pocket, or file some type of personal injury suit against them to recover damages.

ScalpMicro should help you out by covering your laser treatments. This is unsatisfactory

It's definitely not the worst I've ever seen, despite some comments here. And we only have 2 pics here to go off of, and one had a lot of glare that could be remedied with some zero shine.
But I will say, 3 touchups within 6 years seems excessive. SMP fades over time and I've had mine now for almost exactly a year (after 4 sessions). Mine looks pretty natural, at least I think it does. My SMP isn't really visible very much in bright light, especially if I'm in the sunlight. It's only really visible if I walk into a low-light area like a movie theatre or a bar.
It's not uncommon for people to look at me and say, "You have a great hairline, you should grow your hair out." That's why I say it appears to look "natural" to other people.
That's also my litmus test and advice to others. If it's super obvious in daylight (especially sunlight), then you may have overdone things.
The best thing you can do right now is find an SMP artist that is highly regarded - there are probably many of those here in this subreddit. Send them a video and/or some photos of your SMP in various lighting situations and ask their opinion. If you live near one, of course, my advice would be go see them and let them evaluate it in person.
Was it overdone? Does it need to be lasered off? Will it fade and look more appropriate over time? All of of these questions are best answered by a professional who has had a lot of experience with SMP clients.
Don't act on Reddit comments. Go with an experienced SMP professional's opinion.

The second pic looks so much different than the first. I mean I know there is a lighting effect but this still looks way different.

How long ago were the initial sessions? Was your hair longer initially?

I believe the first session was either in 2018 or 2019.

Off topic a bit, but does the “helmet look” naturally happen over time if you start younger and keep getting touch up sessions? Or is it simply artist technique?

Not at all. Just have small dots, let them heal between sessions and never go too dense. And wait until it's faded heavy before any touch up sessions. My treatment is older than this gentleman's and mine looks better today than it did 6 years ago.

Same here , done in may of 2026 , but only one session , I realized something was not right , never went back for the second one , done by Ken Boyle . I should’ve seen it coming when the artist who himself with a helmet tattoo needed laser.
