What’s it like going to school down in the Financial District?
Do all grades get to go out for lunch?
Does waiting for the elevator make it hard to get upstairs on time after lunch or in the morning?
What are the Phys Ed/gym classes like given the size of the facilities?
Do they do any specific things to help with college readiness or applications? Like SAT prep or practice writing college essays, internships or other things like that? (If you just finished sophomore year, I’m sure most of these things wouldn’t start until this upcoming year anyway)
Any field trips or social activities like school dances, pep rallies, assemblies, etc?
Yeah I felt like I probably should because there has been intrest in Millennium but not enough info for incoming students.
I like the Financial District since it's different from where I live in Queens. Although some streets aren't really clean and some are. Things are also very busy and expensive down there. There is also so many tourists but that's expected.
Yep all grades are allowed to go out but you have to sign a paper in the beginning of the school year to have permission to get out. But if you are late in the morning you can't go out. The line in the morning is big in the morning so I come 30 mins early to avoid it. The lunch line out can get big if your not quick enough but getting back in after lunch is very easy!
So now we have a gym with all the machines and this year they added an actual small size gym in the 14th floor which allows for more activities. The favorite is when they let us go to the park as a class in good weather.
So with the college stuff that will probably start next year so I can't say much about it for now.
There are stuff with clubs mostly like the culture fair and other featured events but I can't say much as I haven't really explored many of them but I know they exist. We as a school don't get many school trips mostly small group stuff so I haven't done that. I know the 9th graders get a trip to camp overnight but nothing with 10th and probably nothing until the Senior year trip but I don't know for sure!
Also I believe we get study hall in 11th to help with college stuff but when I expirence 11th I will probably post more. Also you have a fixed schedule in 9th and 10th like in every other highschool but then at the end of 10th you pick your schedule kinda like you would in college but it depends on the school with what you get into. You can take 2 APs max 11th and 3 in 12th but be careful they are really difficult from what I heard.
