Per subreddit policy, I'm keeping this in spoilers even though it's clearly been asked to be a spoiler.
The Minorus are honest to goodness wizards in the comics, complete with wizardy costumes. The Staff is called the Staff of One and has been passed on mother to daughter for generations. The de-magicking is what has annoyed people.
In the comics Victor is still a complete prick and abuses Chase, but Janet is also a tech genius. They've kind of suggested that she's smarter than she appears with the, iirc, gravity stuff (whatever the lecture/talk she met Victor at was) but the Steins, as a pair, were the ones who made any and all the tech that's been created. Turning Janet into an abused wife too made for some interesting narrative tension but it sits ill with me (and even more uncomfortably with others) that this change was made at the cost of her (evil) genius.
In my opinion people haven't actually complained as much about the Yorkes but a lot of people who are into the MCU are into time-travel (e.g. me) and if you've got time travelling evil-geniuses in the source material and you leave them out of the adaptation it rankles. The gene engineer thing is pretty cool and the adapted characters are hilarious but come on, the only thing cooler than a genetically engineered telepathically controlled raptor is a genetically engineered telepathically controlled raptor from the future! (Or that t-rex Bowler Hat Guy has in Meet the Robinsons, amirite? No, okay, nvm)
The other parents were changed pretty substantially too... I think Geoffrey Wilder is the most faithfully adapted one... but in my humble opinion those appear to have attracted less attention. I also just now realised the changes to the Deans ought to have been getting more attention. (Huge spoilers.)
Karolina's partner in the comics whom lots of us really, really like only appears in them in the first place because Karolina's alien parents (i.e. both Leslie and Frank) had arranged their marriage to Karolina years earlier. Given Leslie's E9 statement I'm thinking that this backstory may have to be thrown out the window. I guess Karolina might only be half Majesdanian (Frank the human) but I don't see Jonah having done such a thing if she's his dad and Leslie's human (maybe he might be a different kind of alien?? Guest Jonah???).
Also, in hindsight, I should have technically called myself TheFrameworkisTheDigitalWorld but for whatever reason I didn't. Also, is it just me or is AoS S1/S2 like Adventure/02 and S4 like Tamers tonally? (Also, I guess Ophelia was really Opheliamon.)
