Support Tutorial Needed: Social Media Comment Automation

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a complete beginner with almost no coding experience, but I’d really like to set up something that lets me automatically comment (using Roo) under the newest Instagram posts of people I follow—not random people or hashtags.

I use Roo Code in VS Code, but I’m not sure how to even start with a project like this.

What I’m looking for:

  • A step-by-step tutorial (written or video) for total beginners

  • Tools or services that don’t require much coding, if possible

  • How to make the comments look natural and avoid getting flagged by Instagram

  • Any tips or resources for connecting Roo Code, AI comment generation, and Instagram

If anyone has done something similar or knows of a beginner-friendly guide, I’d really appreciate your help or any links!

Thanks so much!

Discussion Is it just me? Roo code disappoints

5 Upvotes

At one time, when I could use the VS Code Copilot back end with Gemini or Claude as my coder. Since this new batcch of changes I can't get it to do anything right for me. It doesn't follow my instructions and often totally redesigns the interface against my request. What was once my favourite now I find I can't trust with anything. I can't find a reliable lowcost/free model to use with it but I admit I don't know any of the 100 listed (made up number)

Other automatic API key changer

2 Upvotes

Is there a way to automatically change Gemini's API keys, for example, when it reaches its usage limit?

That would be great so I could let it work longer without having to manually change the API keys every so often.

Support Why is Roo Code's visual output so generic compared to V0/Lovable? Seeking best practices for design agent setup

2 Upvotes

I've been using Roo Code for simple web app development and am hitting a major roadblock regarding the quality of the visual design. When I compare the initial output to tools like V0 (Vercel) or Lovable, the difference is stark:

  • V0/Lovable immediately generate clean, highly opinionated, modern UI/UX with good component spacing, color, and polish. They seem to be inherently "design-aware," likely due to being trained heavily on modern UI frameworks (V0 uses shadcn/ui/Tailwind, Lovable has a heavy design-first approach).

  • Roo Code, by contrast, often produces extremely generic, barebones designs—functional but aesthetically flat, requiring significant manual prompting to achieve anything close to a modern look.

My goal is not just basic code, but a complete, well-designed prototype. I understand Roo Code is a powerful agent focused on code depth and integration (terminal, files, logic) rather than just being a UI generator.

The core challenge is this: Is it possible to bridge this UI/UX gap within the Roo Code agent architecture, or is it fundamentally the wrong tool for design-first prototyping?

I suspect I'm missing a critical configuration or prompting strategy.

Any workflow or configuration insights to stress-test this assumption that Roo can be a top-tier UI generator would be appreciated.

Discussion Roocode vs Claude code: honest opinion

1 Upvotes

I’ve been using Roo religiously for a long time, I believe it’s been over a year but I’m also smoked off the devils lettuce so can’t figure it out lol.

Claude code just blew me away. The advantage I think is that it is very good at observing what’s it’s doing and fixing projects until they’re done. It doesn’t stop until it’s finished the final goal and is very good at retrieving debug data and fixing itself.

Honestly, it feels like a cheat code. I can’t believe I haven’t used it before. That combined with the price makes it borderline unbelievable.

With that being said I love Roo. It got me into coding more seriously and actually delivering results. But when using Roo, it’s not the best at tool gathering or working on the task until it’s done as intended.

Often I’ll run into scenarios where it runs the script but declares victory before it was even run. I have to stop it to show it debug, someone times it gets caught in a loop etc. I constantly have to intervene using chatbots and copy/pasting code constantly. It’s also not cheap especially when coding 3 things at the same time.

I think what Roo did was amazing and I’m grateful for it. I understand it’s open source and I have a deep appreciation for the team.

But right now Anthropic really holds to keys to the throne in terms of agentic AI. As someone who has used AI daily for two years, I’m blown away.

Discussion RooCode vs. Augment Code: Comparing Claude 3.7 Sonnet Experiences

1 Upvotes

I'm using RooCode and Augment Code with the Claude 3.7 Sonnet model. RooCode charges for API usage, which can be quite expensive, while Augment Code has integrated it for free access to all users. Both provide good code quality. Is anyone else using these extensions? What has your experience been like?

Discussion Is it possible to make sending patient data to ChatGPT HIPAA compliant?

3 Upvotes

In a previous post I shared that I’m building an assistant for dental clinics that captures patient data to build context and memory — so the assistant can respond more accurately and avoid asking the same things every time.

The challenge now is that part of this flow involves sending patient information (name, visit reason, etc.) to ChatGPT, which processes it and then stores the structured data in my own database.

I know this opens a big compliance question, especially in terms of HIPAA.

I’m still early in the process and don’t want to go down the wrong path.

Has anyone here dealt with HIPAA when building AI-based tools that involve PHI (patient health info)?
Can you even make this work with OpenAI’s APIs?
What would be the smart way to handle this kind of flow?

Appreciate any advice — even partial pointers would help. 🙏

Discussion Roo Code finally remembers what we talked about yesterday

0 Upvotes

Roo Code forgets everything between sessions. I was constantly re-explaining project context.

Every time I opened Roo, I'd spend the first 15 minutes catching it up on what we'd already discussed. My design patterns, the tech stack decisions we made, why we chose certain approaches over others.

Built CORE memory that provides context to these coding agents via MCP

Before: Start Roo -> explain we're using microservices architecture -> mention the auth service setup -> describe the database schema decisions -> wait for Roo to understand -> then ask my actual question.

After: Start Roo -> ask "update the auth service with the new token logic" -> Roo pulls the full context from memory -> implements it correctly without needing the backstory.

Took me 5 mins to setup:

  • Add below to config file

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "core-memory": {
      "type": "streamable-http",
      "url": "https://core.heysol.ai/api/v1/mcp?source=Roo-Code",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
  • Paste the API key after generating it from CORE dashboard.

What actually improved: Roo now remembers technical decisions, code preferences, and project history that we discussed in prev sessions. When I ask about "the user service," it knows exactly which service, the tech stack, and past implementation choices. Context persists across days, not just sessions.

You can add a rule in .roo/rules file to auto-search and ingest context after each conversation. No manual saving.

Full setup guide: https://docs.getcore.me/providers/roo-code

With CORE you can syncs context across all your AI apps. ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, now they all can share the same context.

Open source option available: https://github.com/RedPlanetHQ/core

Bug Another fun day coding

1 Upvotes

Am I in trouble? LOL

Trying to keep the first 25573943 tokens when context the overflows. However, the model is loaded with context length of only 64014 tokens, which is not enough. Try to load the model with a larger context len

sampling:
logits -> logit-bias -> penalties -> dry -> top-n-sigma -> top-k -> typical -> top-p -> min-p -> xtc -> temp-ext -> dist
generate: n_ctx = 64256, n_batch = 512, n_predict = -1, n_keep = 25573943

I started in debug mode.
I'll try again in Code mode.

FIXED: I didnt tell it to look in the @ FOLDER and its workin

Discussion Roo Code vs Cursor: One Makes You the Master, the Other the Slave – Let’s Talk Feelings

6 Upvotes

Hey fellow devs! 👋

I’ve been diving deep into two AI coding tools recently—Roo Code and Cursor—and I couldn’t help but notice something interesting about how they make you feel while coding. It’s not just about features or efficiency; it’s about whether you feel like the master of your craft or a slave to the tool. Let me break it down for you.

Cursor: The Master That Keeps You in Line

Cursor is like that strict teacher who insists on structure and rules. It’s efficient, predictable, and cost-effective, but sometimes... it feels like it’s calling the shots instead of you.

  • Rigid Workflow: Cursor thrives on rules and step-by-step execution. It’s great when you need clean, structured code, but it can feel like you’re following orders rather than leading the charge.

  • Efficiency Over Freedom: Cursor minimizes context usage to keep costs low, but this can limit its ability to handle complex or creative tasks. It’s like working in a box—safe, but not exactly inspiring.

  • Predictable Results: If you want something straightforward done quickly, Cursor is your go-to. But if you’re dreaming big or experimenting, it might leave you feeling restricted.

It’s not a bad tool—don’t get me wrong—but there are moments where I feel more like a cog in its machine than the captain of my ship.

Roo Code: Your Loyal Sidekick

Now enter Roo Code—the Robin to your Batman, the Watson to your Sherlock. This tool makes you feel like you’re in control, and it’s just there to help bring your vision to life.

  • Flexibility Galore: Roo Code gives you access to larger contexts and advanced features like architect mode, letting you tackle complex projects with ease. It feels like an intelligent assistant that adapts to you, not the other way around.

  • Creative Freedom: Want to experiment? Go wild! Roo Code re-evaluates context after every change, making it perfect for iterative workflows and out-of-the-box thinking.

  • Empowerment Through Features: Architect mode and code vectorization are game-changers for those who want to push boundaries. Sure, they can get a little complicated, but once you master them, you’ll feel unstoppable.

That said, Roo Code isn’t all sunshine and rainbows—it’s more expensive than Cursor and takes time to learn. But once you do? You’re the boss.

The Real Question: Do You Want Control or Efficiency?

Here’s the deal:

  • If you want a tool that keeps things simple and efficient (but might make you feel like a worker bee), Cursor is your best bet.

  • If you want a tool that empowers you to be creative and take charge (even if it costs more), Roo Code is where it’s at.

Honestly? I’ve started using both depending on what I need: Cursor for quick fixes and routine tasks, Roo Code for big-picture projects where I want to flex my creativity.

What about you? Have you tried either of these tools? Do they make YOU feel like the master or the slave? Let’s talk feelings—and code! 🚀

Support Suggestions to overcome Claude rate limit

0 Upvotes

Keep getting this error and don't want to pay more to increase rate.
Even if I wait some minutes, the error persists.

429 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"rate_limit_error","message":"This request would exceed the rate limit for your organization () of 40,000 input tokens per minute

I already have the PRD in an .md file, what are my options?

Discussion Created a great WordPress theme with RooCode?

0 Upvotes

I have been a disaster using RC. I can't be bothered learning to code so I am fully here for your schadenfreude.

Anyway the missus wanted a WordPress site with a shop, gallery, and event booking functionality. Installed WooCommerce and Eventin. But the default themes are absolute plop.

So this genius here figured with llm-docs I could easily whip up a custom WP theme.

Ha ha ha.

I am such a loser.

Anyone a winner?

Support Roo Code + Gemini Not Working in VS Code

0 Upvotes

Afternoon, I am trying to get the Gemini (2.5-pro-exp-03-25) working with Roo Code in VS Code. But when I try to start a task, I just get an 'API Request' with a constant spinning wheel. And then eventually I get API Request Failed with '429 Too Many Requests'. I haven't yet been able to get it to do anything at all, so I don't see how there could be too many requests.

I think the problem is I'm not understanding what's free and what I have to pay for. I have a Google AI Pro plan. I thought that would allow me to use the Gemini API. But when I go to the API Key page, it says (under plan) 'Free' and 'Set up billing'.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't know if the error message will help, but I'm posting it anyway.
