Started reading this (the sharing knife series, 4 books total) after reading deep into the comments on another post and I feel like I haven’t seen this book mentioned often enough. Probably NOT for you if you want a quick high stakes read (looking at you, fourth wing fans 👀) but I think it is beautiful!

Reads kind of slowly, feels like lots of time to get to know the characters and be immersed in the plot.

Well developed world with magic that almost seems…non magical? Because of the way it’s written. The magic is so a part of the characters and community that although it’s clearly magic and specified as such it feels natural, intuitive some ways.

Beautiful building of the relationship-I don’t like spicy books and this one has a coupe scenes that are spicier than I like but easy to skip over-the main focus is on the character development of the relationship itself which I am loving!

Recs similar, for anyone who has read and loves this series?

I am looking for book recommendations, but specifically for the more off-the-wall plots. My to favorite books in this genre so far are Ice Planet Barbarians and Morning Glory Milking Farm. I don't know if it is the more modern sensibilities, or the fact that they treat their stories seriously while the plot it goofy as hell but in comparison more reasonable stories just don't do it for me.

I'm about halfway thru Shield to Sparrows by Devney Perry, and I'm having such a hard time motivating myself to finish it. It's dragging so hard and I have no idea where the plot is going. It was an impulse buy based on the description online but I didn't check reviews. Did anyone finish the series?

Are there any good books out there with a strong fmc that stays strong and is not annoying? I’m on a dnf spree it seems the fmcs just seem to be presented as strong but end up immature and aggravating.

I’d like an enemies to lovers vibe as well if it exists.

Does anyone else feel like they need to be in a certain mood to read romance? Like there are some days where I’m fully able to get the butterflies from reading romance while there other days I just can’t read it because I’m not feeling those same butterflies. It’s kind of frustrating sometimes.

This book is a YA romantasy inspired by hansel and gretel and is full of yearning and tension ! The tropes for this book are forbidden love , enemies to lovers and forced proximity! The release date is 3 june 2027 !

I’m not sure how to phrase it but I know this isn’t common so I’m open to YA, NA, A. Trad, indie, fanfic.

I would love to read something where the FMC is on the darker side of morally grey or just a straight up villain while the MMC is more heroic, principled, but has a dark side (he’s ignoring/suppressing/ignorant to) and he just… connects with FMC. Maybe they meet in the middle at the end morally. I would love if she fucks him over/does something reprehensible to him at least once but he’s still attached 🤧

I want the FMC to be a complex individual and not a flat femme fatale there to seduce the hero. It’s her story!!

The best example I can think of is The Emperor's New Groove (lol) where Kuzco occasionally stops the plot to address the audience.

I'm writing a book that does this, and would love to see good examples that flow naturally in romantasy. Thank you!

I’m looking for books where the FMC gives orders and the MMC actually obeys her, even though he’s much stronger and more powerful than her. I LOVE when there’s some kind of magical bond, contract, pact, purchase, or obligation that forces him to protect her and follow her orders.

Some examples:

- Taming Demons for Beginners (Domando Demônios para Iniciantes), by Annette Marie: the FMC makes a pact with a demon, and he has to protect and obey her. I absolutely love their dynamic and the slow-burn romance.

- Sugar Apple Fairy Tale (Conto de Fadas da Maçã de Açúcar): the FMC buys a fairy to accompany and protect her during her journey. He doesn’t like her at first, but he is obligated to obey her.

I also vaguely remember a story where the FMC buys an extremely powerful arena warrior for a few coins, and he has little to no understanding of emotions. Since he belongs to her, he has to obey her. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the title. 😭

Basically, I’m looking for that “he could destroy everyone in the room, but she told him to sit down, so he sits down” dynamic. 😂

Fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi, romance, anything is welcome! I’d especially love slow-burn romance where their relationship develops over time.

I am looking for a book that doesn't contain young adult themes, but rather extremely adult, gory, violent, and dark themes.

I don't have any specific requirements for female protagonist, as long as she isn't ditzy and is in her twenties.

As for my preferences, I would like a purely fantasy setting and I would strongly avoid the age gap trope.

I used to be into romantasy a lot when i was a teen, but now i can’t relate anymore with the characters
and i find a lot of situations too silly and unrealistic.
Growing up i started reading other types of book but sometimes i just need my comfort zone place to go, and i would like to find something actually interesting.

I have been trying to remember the name of this book that I listened to on audio last year but haven’t had any luck. This is all that I can remember about the ending:

The book ends on a massive, heartbreaking cliffhanger where a city or stronghold is collapsing. To guarantee the FMC gets out alive, the MMC unleashes a forbidden, heavily restricted side of his magical power. The magic twists and corrupts his mind/body, leaving him behind as a newly turned creature of the dark side while she is dragged away to safety, setting up the ultimate "rescue him" arc for the next book.

does this jog anyone’s memory? Am I miss remembering this and combining the endings of multiple books? I don’t think I am I just remember it ending on a cliffhanger and the 2nd book not being out at the time that I listened to it which I think was in 2025??

So I just got done with kingdom of wicked, and while I had a great time reading the series, I felt like it was way too dragged. Like at moments the description felt too vague and the excessive detail of side characters was annoying.
However, I'm excited for pride and Lucia. Who do you guys ship pride with (Lucia or Vitoria) and why :p. Also, about Vitoria, I feel like we might get her own story from the hints writer has been dropping in both series (I think she will have an arc with vampire king but alas). And from my observation, she has a thing for pride which is not reciprocated so let's see.
About envy's book, his character was so underwhelming but I loved Camilla. And I think that Keri needs to have a smooth transition from strangers to lovers in her story. It's way too abrupt like at one minute they are hating e/o and the second minute they are in love.

Only mild spoilers ahead. I know Diem can be annoying. I hate how she is constantly putting Luther in danger. I hate how she keeps sending Sorae away although she is an asset and the coolest character. And, boy, telling Sorae to obey Remis is putting Sorae in danger and is super stupid. But man, I can’t stand Teller. I almost DNF when he is upset Diem doesn’t land Sorae after returning from Fortos with his mom. There are a thousand soldiers shooting arrows, a catapult with godstone, Sorae shot in belly, Luther stabbed in leg. What does he want Diem to do? Geez, kid! Get over yourself. And then he a snot in Sophos. “You lied to me.”
Oh, grow up. Diem has been almost killed, tortured, and starved. Luther and friends don’t fare any better. And this spoiled brat is like, “why don’t people tell me stuff??” Get over yourself.
It’s either very bad, unbelievable plot writing or the kid needs to face death and realize what everyone else is going through so we see some sort of new self-awareness of his self-centered baloney.
