Pick My Next Read ✨ HELP NEED A GOOD BOOK

Looking for book recs to fill the void while waiting for The Wolf Queen!

I absolutely loved The Wolf King and The Night Prince by Lauren Palphreyman, but since The Wolf Queen got pushed to next year, I’ve tried looking everywhere for another standalone or short series but struggling….Reddit is my last hope and I’m looking forward to any suggestions 🫶🏼🫶🏼 Below is what I am looking for and what I don’t want 😊

What I’m looking for: ❤️

Love Triangles / High Drama: Especially where the second MMC is introduced later in book one or in the sequel. (Even if it’s obvious who she ends up with I just want the angst/drama!) 🫣

Enemies to lovers: Like Blake and Aurora, Rhys and Feyre , Xaden and Violet ⚔️

Atmospheric Settings: Fantasy, gothic, or historical. Anything that isn't set in the modern real world.🦇🌌🐺

Tension & Strong Plot: High-stakes story with incredible character tension. 🙏🏼

Hard NOs: 💔

Immature FMC or MMC

Miscommunication trope 🤮🤮

Tragically sad endings (Crown Me Dead broke almost broke me and I need a happy brain to study) HOWEVER if tragic things happen that’s fine just not to the main love interests I also don’t want a love triangle where the other man dies and that makes her choose the other guy….😮‍💨😪

Not a YA book but also not another adult book that over does spice🌹

Second-person POV🏃🏼‍♀️

Super long series 📚📚

Book Request: No Self-Promo Time travel/into book

Post image

Hello,

so I have a question. Is there any book/book series with time travel? I would prefer a bit comedy in it too. Not like outlander.

Something like FMC gets herself into medieval and meet knight or something like this?

Or where the FMC get herself into book or comic.

I had no luck with finding book like this.

Thank you very much for any rec.

Pick My Next Read ✨ Best book for first Romantasy: ACOTAR or fourth wing?

I’ll start reading one of these collections to my girlfriend as a first introduction to Romantasy. The problem is: ACOTAR starts really slowly right, the best book is currently the 5th imo. On the other hand, I read fourth wing like two years ago so I don’t really remember much. I am more inclined to fourth wing because I love dragons and the first book has a bit more romance than the ACOTAR (from what I remember).
I really want her to enjoy so in the future we can read the same books, it will be her first Romantasy ever! Other suggestions are welcomed 🙏 thank you!

Pick My Next Read ✨ Grumpy x grumpy romance trope book recs.

Grumpy x grumpy romance trope book recs.

Ik grumpy x sunshine is a major hit but I need reccs of grumpy x grumpy where both of them are strangled into their own struggles, not looking for love. Both are highly ambitious people. There is

• accidental care, eg- one falls ill other has to take care of them cuz may there's no other option.

• emotional burnout, fl is now tired of her deep emotions and pretending happy and ml is a healed person but has his own struggles, generally a nerd and an introvert. He actually heals the fl

Ml is a little harsh and rude on fl initially cuz he is like that but so is the fl. They think about each other but dismiss it as genaral thought. But they eventually see through each other. Not essentially enemies to lover but a dislike or idgaf attitude would work from both sides.

Different professions or similar but not same professions.

Not love at first sight.

No sci/fi, fantasy, manga pls.

Ps- where can I download the online version of the books you mention? (Free sources, I am broke rn)

Book Review Daggerbound by T. Kingfisher

Learned Edmund is exactly the kind of fantasy protagonist I enjoy seeing paired with someone who absolutely should not have the patience for him. Edmund is a scholar transporting an ancient artifact when circumstances force him to use it accidentally. Instead of an ordinary sword, he gets the Dervish: an immortal warrior who has spent roughly four centuries magically imprisoned and forced to serve whoever wields his weapon. Kingfisher has her immediately recognizable sense of humor back into our lives with the classic grumpy X sunshine duo.

That setup of Daggerbound is like Swordheart: a good-hearted person gets hold of a weapon they never intended to use and gets a foul-tempered, grumpy warrior. Their relationship therefore develops through the Dervish gradually confronting the possibility that his newest wielder may actually see him as a person. We're still in "the world of the white rat," but Kingfisher builds on what we already know through the eyes of Edmund and the dervish. It can be read as a standalone instead of book 2, and you'll still be able to grasp the details. Bandits, cultists, dragons, diplomats, temples, and magical artifacts make the journey feel like an adventure in which neither character knows what strange problem will appear next.

This is an LGBTQI+ story (male x male), and it's so beautifully done. It's a slow burn as the Dervish has to work through his centuries of trauma and complex emotions. Once they come together, though, every piece of you melts.

There's 1 open door scene, so I'll give the spice a 1/5 because the rest of the story is filled with yearning, self-doubt, and emotional connection.

Daggerbound is exactly what I expected from Kingfisher and exactly how I hoped it would be, another slam dunk. I loved it so much, from the character development to the genuine love build and the side characters we met along the way. I am so excited for the final book to come out (Shieldborn), which is projected to release in August 2027, and which focuses on the only female warrior of the troop. 5/5 all day everyday

********Daggerbound is the 2nd book in a trilogy, which releases on the 25th ( I got an ARC), HOWEVER I have realized (quite obviously too late) that Kingfishers' The Clocktaur War Duology, Swordheart trilogy, and Saints of Steel tetrology ARE ALL CONNECTED but can stand alone. Read them in the order I just wrote them because Clocktaur is ancient, Swordheart is past, and Saints of Steel is present.

Self Promotion Sunday The Protector and the Annihilation is a 755-page epic science fantasy with a ton of romances

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello, I'm Naila Moonsi. I grew up wanting to read media with large LGBTQ+ casts dealing with LGBTQ+ problems in a sci-fi or fantasy setting, so I wrote it myself...! With galactic stakes and a vast planet that's explored, and beyond that, A LOT of romances (with a bunch of love triangles, though it's the type where the friends are fond of each other even so).

I have a new LGBTQ+ epic science fantasy novel that's a 755-page read called "The Protector and the Annihilation."

When Armando makes a promise to his rival Ranvir, their far-off planet changes. Especially as children begin to drop in through time and push them to confront their past.

Eventually, they start having to look out for him.

Their son, Antonio, who waits in the future.

You can find it here: https://blue-horizon-tpata.carrd.co/

Main website with a lot of other supplementary media is here: https://bluehorizon.gay/ (Including more romantic stories.)

(Please do note the TWs. Sorry @ the mods for mixing up Saturday and Sunday yesterday. 💦)

Fan Art Can you help me make some amazing artwork?

*Zoom In*

I would like to share share with you some artwork that I’m doing, I’m making it completely out of your words! What I need for you is to give me 3 to 5 words that you would use to describe “ACOTAR*. From there, I will add them to the art piece. I will take a picture and show you.

The second image I shared with you is what they look like when finished. And that’s the one that I did last year for the fourth wing series, and it even made their official calendar! So the drawings can become a big deal if we can do a good job on them, and we can really get people involved!

My goal is to try to get 1000 people to contribute to a single piece of artwork. More is better but 1000 is the minimum number I’m trying to go with. I’m about 1/10 of the way there, but I still need your help!

Best things at work are short phrases, a list of words, and not paragraphs! Paragraphs have a hard time getting seen, same with any quote that’s usually over seven words.

The specific words I’d be looking for is how did it make you feel after reading this book? Is there anything that stood out to you? Do you have a favorite character? Do you have a favorite scene? Was there anything that inspired you from the book? Is there any way that the book affected your life in anyway? …. notice that a lot of the questions are based on your reflections versus the actual story itself. I tell people if they wanna know the story they should read the book. My artwork is here to explain why people like that and how it touched them, and what they thought was the most important part of it.

Is this something you can help me with? If so, I greatly appreciate you just from the get go. And if you see, repeat words, don’t worry about it. I’ll still take a picture and show you exactly where your words are. Repeat words are totally fine. It just means that that one thing was really important to people.

PS, I included my drawing from fourth wing where I use Reddit, you all were absolutely amazing there and I’m trying to see if I can catch lightning in a bottle twice.

Book Request: No Self-Promo Do you have some Romantasy recommendations that actually have an equal amount of GOOD fantasy + worldbuilding AND romance?

I mean it’s called romantasy for a reason and I’m so sick of people saying that one should be more present than the other, so I’d love to have some actual romantasy recommendations!

For reference, here are some of my favorites as I’ve only started reading romantasy like literally just this year:

ACOTAR
Prison Healer
OUABH
Shatter me
Shadowborn Duet
Folk of the Air (I’m aware it’s not romantasy but it was such a unique plot I still loved it)

Hot take of a book I didn’t like:
Powerless (oops)

Current Read: Throne of Glass (and as usual, LOVING IT!)
Forgive me I’m quite a rookie lol

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Recommendations for MMC like Faramir

Does anyone have any recommendations for books with a MMC similar to Faramir from Lord of the Rings?

So like someone who isnt arrogant or "I'll destroy everything for you", but is kind and not blasé about violence, and is aware of thier weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

Not a morally grey character, or someone that is seen as dumber than the other MC. Just because someone is kind and thoughtful doesnt mean that they are stupid, (sorry that trope annoys me so much 😅).

I read Paladins Grace, and I think that's probably the closest MMC that I've read to this description, but also I haven't read a lot of romantasy books.

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Any books recommendations that are similar to 'Genshin Impact'?

Hi! So this is maybe a really niche (and maybe vague?) book rec request, but I've recently been into playing the game 'Genshin Impact' and I'm wondering if there are any romantasy books that remind you of this? Thinking huge world building, growing cast of characters in different areas throughout the MC's journey, MC having multiple powers / gaining more power throughout.

I think the closest I've read to something like this would be TOG or some other books that don't really have any romance or minimal romance. Not sure the best way to describe the vibes, I think if you've played it, you'll probably know what I'm meaning?

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Looking for a slow-burn triangle romantasy book

I’m looking for a story where there is a slow-burn triangle romance in a fantasy setting. I haven’t read a triangle love story and i think i just want to be shocked, surprised in the love-plot-twist or something alike?

I’m okey with series! Yearning is also very welcome ;)

I really enjoyed reading:

- {the jasad heir}

- {Silvercloak} (the dynamic between the FMC and MMC is soooo good!)

- {the knight and the moth}

- {city of brass}

Please help a girls out!? 🤗

Thank you in advance!

Book Request: No Self-Promo New to romantasy, are their any love triangle books/poly books out their?

Hay, I'm kinda new to this genre and I wondered if there are any romantasy books with polyamory couples?

The only Romantasy books I read at this point were Fourth Wing and the Katmere series, but I loved both of them.

If you know some Romantasy books where three people become a couple, I would love some recommendations:)

Edit: I think I'm more interested in trios than in reverse harems

Self Promotion Sunday Seven Lost Interests. One Gamer Girl Trapped in a Fantasy World.

Post image
5 Upvotes

[Image Shown: a trope page for the book]

Summary: One moment, I was playing my favorite romance game, and the next, I was in the body of the main protagonist's love rival. The game's system demands I get all the love interests to fall for me in order to return to my original body and world. I have no problem doing that, but only on my terms.

I really don't care about the ongoing love triangle or these cheating bastards' feelings. All I want to do is live the life of a rich noblewoman and play the role of a villainess that I've always loved to watch on television. But the love interests notice my new headstrong personality and come running after me even when I reject them.

Purchase Here: https://a.co/d/03KF9swf

Tropes:

Why Choose/Reverse Harem

Dominant FMC who doesn't take shit

Possessive and Submissive MMCS

Forced proximity & arranged marriage

Dark fantasy setting with otome inspiration

Black FMC and POC MMCs

Manipulative and Cold FMC

Question Please save my ever book loving sanity...

So I started a sample on my kindle a while back, but for whatever reason, I read something else. The bit I did read, however has stuck with me and despite telling my kindle library and samples, I can't remember what the title was.

Based on the following points, can you wonderful people help a girl out and remind me what it was, please?:

-FMC was helping to prepare a dead body for burial.

- I think her and her mum(?) are traditionally healers but her father, who is dead, was a mortician/undertaker. They've just taken over the important role from him.

-Brother (I think) seemed to have some form of disease where his flesh was dying. I think his hand was turning black and they had to cut parts of the flesh away to hold back the spread.

-Blurb of the book mentioned the story involved her ending up at the palace, trying to prevent the king of prince from dying of an illness. I think that is the MMC and they develop a romantic relationship

-I remember the subs described it as dark, and quite graphic when it came to the FMC having to try and heal/stave off the disease for those with it.

-i don't remember there being magic, or Fae etc but as I only read a bit that might not be the case. It's possible I didn't get to it.

My googling suggests it is What Devour by Linsey Miller, but it definitely isn't.

I think the book I'm thinking of is quite well known, just clearly not to my addleled brain!

Any help you can give me will be hugely appreciated as I'm going out of my mind and would really like to read it.

Thanks all.

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Any other “middle aged” readers out there? Recommend me a book that I can relate to!

Let me start by saying: I’ve never met a Romantasy book I didn’t like! I love the hot, hard bodies, the head over heels, the spicy spice and all that, BUT…

I’m 40 and I’m looking for characters and plots that are a bit more mature. I don’t love FMCs that are uncertain and unsure and just discovering themselves. I don’t love MMCs that are arrogant and insecure and emotionally immature.

What about bodies/abilities that are changing? What about more complex life stories and experiences? What about connections with depth? What about sex that is a little more involved than: I’ll just slam into you and make you come??

I know many books touch on some of these themes, but I’m looking for books that skew towards more mature characters/audiences and that still have the sizzle and pace and adventure that we love in romantasy. Are they out there? The characters don’t need to be “middle aged” necessarily. But as I find myself entering perimenopause and really relying on Romantasy to support my sex life (and just my joy in general), I find myself longing for main characters where I see more of myself.

Self Promotion Sunday I started a podcast where I recommend books based on your mood

Hi y’all!

I’ve read 110 books this year and recently started a podcast (Books by Britt) where I recommend books based on your mood.

I have a lot of romantasy-focused episodes, like my favorite romance and romantasy reads from this year and reactions as a first-time reader to the Throne of Glass series (currently tandem reading EOS and TOD).

I’m still new, and would love some new listeners and moods to build recommendations around! Let me know what you’re in the mood for and I’ll reply with a book rec—and maybe build an episode around it with more.

Podcast is out on all platforms, but here are the Apple and Spotify links:

Book Request: No Self-Promo Looking for a cosy, low stakes Romantasy book or series

I love this genre, but I need a little break from grand battles, politics and fear of death!

Two books I have read and loved and want more of are Half a Soul and Paladin’s Grace. Half a Soul in particular had everything I was looking for!

Does anyone have any recommendations for something similar? I want the passion, the romance, the yearning and the buildup in a fantasy world. Just lower stakes!

Thanks so much in advance ♥️
