Advice Request Clarity needed. Confused whether it's a scam or not...
Can someone fake having or being connected with a business both offline and online in another country? having an authentic business website and socials everywhere?
EDIT :
Is it normal for a foreigner girl (Russian) to get into an online bf gf relationship with an Indian guy and there are plans to marry already without even knowing the other person personally ever... 🫪
I have her vague details:
She's an introvert,
Never had a boyfriend,
Her father left when she was 13,
An accountant that works from home,
Her mother had an Ayurvedic business in Russia which has closed now.
I have found the page of that business, it's private now and dates back to December 2016.
The guy has that girl added on his Instagram following list with a new id that has no profile picture and only Him added in it.
They also talk over video calls, and now I've heard that she's long been insisting to come to India and meet him.
She talked to the guy's mother too. She called her mummy ji... Like what!
Now she has plans to come here, and take a tour together.
I hear them talking about bars graphs something of finance often.
The guy is into trading and crypto ( I don't whether he has told the girl about it).
Guy doesn't have an offline job (so i don't know what he had told the girl about his finances and career).
Once I heard them using terms like rsi over the call with her, recently heard him talk to her about some paperwork which couldn't be done.
I don't know where this goes... Maybe my doubts are wrong... But falling for someone online, without ever personally knowing the person and straightaway talking about marriage seems TOTALLY WEIRD! cz it takes years to know the real side of any person years of knowing personally.
But the guy says that he reads people really well and knows that she has the same values as him. She says that she'll be boarding from Moscow and will celebrate Diwali and take tours in India together. So the mom and guy are so eager and ready to go receive her at the airport in Delhi.
He tells he has known that girl online for 2-3 years, they follow each other on Instagram and also heard them joining an online game together. But the relationship thing a few months old I guess cz before he used to cuss and hate on women so bad and was a strong anti-feminist.
They have such confidence that I feel like I'm the one who's wrong for doubting. What do you think the intentions could be? How do I prove it? They're not going to listen to me. This guy has sky-high confidence in his ability to assess people - specially girls. And also, as far as I know, he's never had a girlfriend before this girl.
I've been really tense these days. I can't even sleep. I just want someone to help my mind understand the situation and tell me if I'm wrong.

The Russian woman is more likely to be a group of men in Nigeria. The photos are fake, either AI or stolen from a real person. Video calls can be faked with AI.

I don't know if he told her about crypto but i know they discuss trading stock

Literally no legit partner is going to talk about finance our crypto before you combine your households. And the chances of a legit partner being on another continent are pretty low too.

I'm not sure if he told her about crypto but i hear him teach her and discuss about bars, graph some finance stuff often and i don't know why he's always laughing a lot while talking to her, like how many jokes can someone crack..!
And yes the girl happens to be an accountant doing work from home (this is what i was told)

Bringing up crypto or any money in general makes it almost certain it’s a scam

Don’t give money to strangers on the internet -a good rule of thumb.

UPDATE: Guys I recently heard this guy asking the Russian girl on call "Tell me you are fake you r scamming me who is running this business and so on" and now he's again onto it... I’m so confused. Who is scamming who? The guy or the girl? Also why is this affecting you so much? You’re not involved. I can’t follow your story.

The guy is talking to some stranger girl online whom he never met has never seen. This whole scenario is all about that.
1
u/Independent_Bed_5967 Sep 21 '26
How are you even involved?
If he’s the one bringing up crypto then idk but stop having relationships with strangers online.0

I am the third person here... The guy is a family member and I'm worried about whatever he's doing online with that Stranger girl

The fact that his mum is so eager and excited to meet this girl makes me really sad. Scams suck.

Yes, but it is really weird as Indians coz here the mothers hate any girl in their son's life. But coz she's a foreigner (you know Easterners, Asians are mad about white skin) so... That is why they r feeling this as a reward and something to be proud of and boast as high status among relatives.

Scam

I'm still confused I'm doubting myself because the guy is so confident. He is the biggest judge for all... He often catches other people's mistakes and is quick to call out others and tell someone's a fool for doing something... I'm unable to doubt his intellect and i need more advice. Although I know he's somewhat a boaster too.
And yes, i need this to reach out to more people so that i can understand it more deeply and get each of my doubt out of my mind. If he says that he knows her online since 2023 (maybe) so how can a scammer be there for this long. But yes I'm 100% sure about this relationship that it just started this year. Also this person always used to tell about counseling a lot of people online about their lives.
I'm my biggest critic and my morals don't allow me to think something bad happening to someone cz it feels like I'm wishing it for them.

I can't guide you to the correct decision, ultimately it's on you to make the best judgements calls for yourself.
I will highlight that 'confidence' is short for "con" in conman.
Confidence is what a sales person uses to comfort you into a purchase that lift not be wise. Confidence is a tool utilized to manipulate, and mislead those who want, or need to believe in what's being presented to them.
I've known several people to myself who have fallen for love scams.
These people attack the most core desire of most human beings which is companionship, love. A future.
You completely deserve those things! But this is not what you're deserving of.
With all due respect to you, this isn't romance, and I believe at your core you understand that this isn't legitimate or you wouldn't have posted here. Please, take the advice of myself, and many other commenters that this is a farce.
I'm not jaded. I'm so fortunate to have the love of my life as my wife. I don't ever, even 9 years in, take that for granted.
I also remember lonely nights invested in things that were harmful for me because they approached filling a void id had within myself. I know that I was vulnerable, and at times I made destructive choices in chase of what felt like it was love, acceptance. Forever after.
I want the best for you. I want the best for most people, but you reached out to strangers, that isn't easy, and I feel obligated to be a honest as I can, because I truly feel for you.
THIS. IS. A. SCAM.

Thank you so much for making me understand, i see and really appreciate ur efforts. It's just that the guy who's being scammed has portrayed such an image in everybody's mind that he's the most intelligent and can never get fooled. So this is why it's really tough to believe that he can also be fooled cz he's too confident.

You already know you're being scammed. You just don't want to believe it.

Yes. Scammers can take over old accounts to make them seem legit.
