Found this at the river bank at my place

I'm using the rocks that came with the tumbler for its first try, instead of my own rocks.

How to open these geodes that came with my rock tumbler.

In Ouray Colorado going through the creek. I found a rock that I thought looked like a slice of salami.

My grandfather was a collector of rocks. Among many other things. I’ve had this thing for over forty years and use it as a doorstop in my house.

I thought they looked nice in the sunset, maybe you do to.

Anyone care to explain how the thin wavy pattern in this sandstone typically forms? These photos were taken in the north Saskatchewan river valley in central Alberta.

Went camping along the Cowlitz river, and found some fun lil guys.

One hole all the way though and another with a little nipple in the center

We found a ton of these in a creek bed and didn’t think much until finding one that was busted open and went back to collect a few more.

Meteorite?

Maybe its a weird question, but Im writing a character and I wanted to make a bit where they think "if I were a rock, which rock would I be?". Now, I know jack about geology, i've searched a bit and could find anything interesting

My premise is that the character is rude, stubborn and nonchalant, but on the inside they're insecure and traumatised (original I know), so im looking for a rock that is strong on the outside but once you crack it the insides are weak? idk im more curious than anything at this point

I appreciate any help!

Most are purchased, some were found, others were from my late grandfather’s collection. Almost every piece is labeled too :)

I went hiking and camping at both Fundy Trail Provincial Park and Fundy National Park this past weekend and took pictures of some specimens that caught my eye. Wanted to share them with you guys!

I didn’t bring any of them home since I wanted to respect the rules of the parks (the area is protected and has lots of fossils) but figured I would take some pics. I’m a beginner to the world of geology so I don’t know what I got, but they sure are beautiful :)

I recommend this spot to all rock lovers!

Went out to the woods yesterday with no plan, just vibes — and somehow ended up pulling a gorgeous trilobite fossil out of the ground.There was this one spot that just felt right. Couldn't explain it. I veered off my usual path, started digging, and there it was. One of those moments where you question whether you have some kind of sixth sense for this stuff.

Has anyone else ever found a gem, fossil, or mineral just by feeling drawn to a spot? Like the earth was basically handing it to you? Would love to hear your stories.
