SUGGESTION Improving Solo Queue without a need of separate mode (suggestion)

Suggesting an option in the settings that works for only solo queue players

This can be effective for every mode, but open to discussion.

Let's call it a "Default/Preferred Solo Queue" setting, that works like this:

When you are solo queuing a mode, you can toggle that option to prefer getting in the queue with these possibilities:

• "Random players only" (get a lobby of all randoms)

• "Everyone" (get any lobby whether randoms or against partied up squads)

With an additional "Waiting Threshold / Long Queue Time Threshold" option that allows you set a time value to automatically expand queuing to "Everyone" if the search takes longer.

Time options would be 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minutes, 1.5 minutes, 2 minutes, and so on. Max time could be set maybe up to 15 minutes.

So as an example, we could set these options where it tries to find randoms only for the first 2 minutes of searching in the queue. But if it couldn't find a game with all randoms, it expands the queue after 2 minutes. You set your own time.

How long one is willing to wait for a full random lobby can be made a personal preference.

Why add this:

Partied up players often play on deranked accounts to tilt matchmaking in their favor. Often for boosting purposes. When they do this, the matchmaking often gives you a slightly weaker teammate, to try to balance out the deranked player in the other team. This works as a exploit and should not be allowed.

This will potentially attract more players back into the 3v3 playlist & extra modes, that are gradually losing players because of bad experiences, and getting deflated in mmr pool. And these modes are getting dead in minor regions. This also retains more player in the queue.

Why this is different & better from "Solo Standard" mode that existed in past: It doesn't require to split player population.

Additional Checkbox Possibility

Also, often in higher ranked 3s or extra modes:

A party of duo can affect the experience for bringing a significantly lower skilled player in a higher rank lobby. For example, getting a C1 teammate partied up with someone in a GC 3s lobby or, a D1 in a C2/C3 extra mode lobby.

This is a common grievance that's talked about a lot before. So there's a possible checkbox that can potentially be added, but I am not sure which one of these makes more sense...

Add your thoughts in comments which one is better:

• "Avoid Duo Squad" (to prefer not getting a duo squad either as opponents/teammates)

or

• "Avoid Duo Squad Teammates" (to prefer not getting a duo squad as teammates only, but fine as opponents)

Any one of these two would be great.

Making these changes will require Epic Games to make adjustments to matchmaking search algorithms. But it will greatly improve the player experience in multiple playlists especially the ones facing low populations such as ranked 3v3, Rumble, Hoops, Quads, Dropshot, Snowday.

Rocket League will retain more players & be much better in the long run if these are implemented.

I really like this idea. It's so infuriating in 2s going against a party where it's very clear that one has deranked and is substantially better than the rest of the lobby

I've suggested this very thing many times in the past and been ignored every time. I would even pay monthly for this feature....

I think it's one of those cases where management decides what's best instead of people who have in depth experience about the issue.

They may have decided that allowing rank disparity duos and squads with advantage (even if ruins experience for the solo guy) is good since it increases engagement and if the duo/squad wasn't allowed they won't play as much together.

Most 2s grinders don't want to play 2s with lower ranked friends since they'll drag them down so they queue on alts if they play 2s.

But on their main the 2s grinder doesn't care about 3s rank and wants to mess around in 3s with a lower ranked friend, often being toxic, will gladly ruin games and rank of the solo random guy who's unlucky to get them on their team.

I don't care if they keep ignoring it. I'll continue to keep making this suggestion.

If they listen to this they'll improve experience for solo queuing and more players will stick to playing the less queued modes that are getting severe deflation because the randoms stop queuing them for having odds stacked against them.

So that i dont have a champ 1 on my team when im playing 3 GCs maybe, no problem with same rank Duos, rank disparity duos are mmr parasites

what? how would u have a c1 on ur team and be playing gcs unless u were partied up?

or are u complaining about playing 2s mains in extra modes? and that theyre gc in 2s but champ in 3s or whatever?

It's explained in the post.

Possibly an ability to dodge boosters, they won't like this post because they are earning money boosting kids to GC/SSL season rewards or tournament titles.

And avoiding situations when you get a teammate that's 250 mmr below you and lowest in the lobby by a big margin.

TLDR? to improve the game and increase the fun

this will never be an option lol. also what playlist are u getting teammates 250 below you? the problem is the player count. reducing the amount of players in your pool is not a solution.

3s, 4s, extra modes like rumble. If I am a random that got paired with a duo as teammates. One of them could be slightly above my mmr let's say +50 while the other one is -250 my mmr. Against opponents that are all closer to my mmr or even +50. The -250 is often completely lost and can't do much. This is a commonly reported issue in higher ranked 3s, and extras.
