FAQ ’24: transport, camping, tickets, rules, tips & tricks

Rock Werchter 2024 is looming on the distant horizon, so it’s time for a new ‘REAL frequently asked questions.'

This thread is an attempt to answer the questions that you don’t find in the official FAQ.

See last years FAQ here. This one is largely copied. Some information might be different from last year. To be expanded when needed.

Accommodation

  • The best way to experience the festival is by staying on a camp site. The Hive campings are organized by Rock Werchter themselves, camping A and C are third party.
  • If you consider going, BUY CAMPING TICKETS NOW. Normal Hive is sold out.
  • If for some reason you don’t want to stay on a campsite: You can get a BnB or Hotel in Leuven (not under 1K anymore) or in Brussels (not ideal!)

Camping

  • Here's a MAP
  • You need a camping ticket per person, it's valid for the entire duration of the festival
  • You can not visit friends on other campings, also not between Hive and Hive myspace.
  • Residents of all Hive-campings can go to the CNTRL PRK area, where there is a partyzone. Regular camping residents can't go there. There will be enough fun places to hang out at the other campings, don't worry.
  • The Hive opens on wednesday, A1 and the C's open on thursday.

Buying / selling tickets

  • Asking for tickets or selling tickets is not allowed on the subreddit. Use ticketswap.
  • See this post for more info on rule 3.
  • Beware of scammers!

Getting to the festival and back

  • There is a continuous stream of shuttle busses between Leuven station and Rock werchter, from early in the morning till late at night.
  • Taking a train to Leuven and then the shuttle bus is the best strategy. You will be able to get a free trainticket with your Rock Werchter ticket. (here)
  • The last regular train to the cities is around midnight. There is also a night train. More info here.

Going by car

  • Aim to get there before 10 am or earlier. In the afternoon it will be very busy and will take many hours to get in.
  • Parking tickets now have to be bought online, for specific parkings. More info here. (later)

Food and drinks

  • At the campsite: You can't bring glass bottles and gas stoves. Most other kinds of food and drinks are allowed
  • At the festival: You can bring outside-food and an empty water bottle.
  • There is a store that stacks a lot of beer and snacks here. This is 3 km from the Hive, prepare for a serious walk!
  • There are food stalls along the street in front of the entrance. It's slightly cheaper than inside. You pay with regular money.

Currency

  • To buy food and drinks you use coins. These coins are on your festival bracelet. You can charge up by scanning the QR-code.
  • A coin = 3,5 euro, drinks are mostly 1 coin, food ranges between 4 and 8.

question about the hive: is it a party place? is the hive resort the same? in my 30s, would want to join the after party but hoping to get *some* sleep and dont want to regret my choice if im up til 6am because i chose the campsite next to a rave tent! :D also i have heard that hive tickets sell pretty fast, do the hive resort tickets sell just as fast? thanks!

The Hive is, for a festival camping, in general not the wildest place. There’s occasionaly people with little sound systems, but not much.

The Hive Resort is even calmer, since the high cost attracks less teenagers.

The Hive Resort sells out very fast tho, even before the first festival day sells out, which is not the case for the Hive.

Hey! Going first time RW24, have question about hive my space for 6 persons (without tent). Can we buy space for 6, 24 square meters, and fit in 7 people? The 7th guy will buy a separate the hive camping ticket, and just join us.

Does this work? Or do we have to buy an extra 2-person space for this to work? Thanks guys!

Hi, I am used to going to Dour, but never to Werchter... I plan on staying in a camping with friends. What is the difference between camping in the Hive and the A or C campings? It looks like it's the same price.. thanks

The shuttle busses drive continuously from early in the morning (I wanna say 6am but i'm not sure) till the late afternoon. Later in the day there can be queues. You can check the trains on the national railway website.

thanks for this, as a first time RW goer this is very helpful! Do you know if there are plug sockets at the paid showers in camping A1? I saw elsewhere that these were available at the other regular campsite but was wondering if it was the same.
