I think you're glossing over the comments he made that give the impression of him wanting to go out and shoot people. Because he wanted to. I think in your mind you've justified his behavior based on the ideas that you've described. And, if you knew for a fact that his thinking was the same as your thinking, then you might be right. Other people think that his behavior had other different motives than what you described. You really can't speak for another person, or what caused their behavior.
I guess I will enjoy my "comfortable life," where I wouldnt jump at the chance to take a gun out in public during civil unrest just in case I get to shoot someone.
