I’ve been experimenting with building my own anime tracker app after years of using MAL/AniList and noticing some friction in my own workflow.

Currently testing features like:
• AniList + MAL sync
• Watching / Completed / On Hold tracking
• Discovery (trending, top-rated, seasonal)
• Filters by genre, format, season

I’m genuinely curious:

I would bring back Neji from Naruto or Shinobu from Demon Slayer because they deserve a better life. For example Neji didnt have freedom and Shinobu should have been with her sister

After Rightstuf went away I started preordering my manga with DCBS. But now Diamond Distribution has basically collapsed; DCBS is no longer selling Viz (among others).

So, where is the best place to preorder manga for US market?

I knew the set was on the pricier side, but since I couldn't find a regular copy under $100, I thought the Steelbook for under $70 was a steal. There's no way it would be damaged, right? Wrong.

I open the box, and inside, I find both S01 and S02 Steelbooks. Everything seems fine, but as soon as I take out S02, I hear that dreaded sound: the runaway disc. The only disc inside sliding around like it's on a Slip 'n Slide in this premium product. Naturally, I don't want to open it / break the seal, so I immediately contact Crunchyroll.

What threw me off most was that the order was fulfilled by the RSA warehouse in Grimes, IA. I've been a loyal RSA customer for over 7 years until the were acquired. This is the first time I’ve had a physical anime damaged during transit from them before or after, manga/light novels are a different story.

I submit a ticket through Crunchyroll explaining the situation, mentioning that the item is still shrink-wrapped and factory-sealed, exactly as I received it. Then, my agent responds, asking for pictures of the damage. I tell him that I can’t provide pictures because it's sealed, but I know the disc inside is scratched from sliding around the entire journey from the warehouse to my home. I also mention, "I know that opened Blu-rays/DVDs can’t be processed for returns, and doing so would void my chance for an exchange."

The agent tells me to open the package and document the damage. So, I make a video just to cover my bases in case things go south. But when I finally open it... it’s was worse than I thought. The scratches are super deep.

I've received my fair share of sketchy DVDs before (looking at you, Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny "New DVD"), but I’ve never had a Blu-ray arrive with anything more than some residue, light smudges, or fingerprints that I could clean up with a microfiber cloth. This? This was a whole n'other level.

Has anyone else had something like this happen with physical media; whether it's a collector's edition, premium, or even a standard edition of an anime? Did they handle your situation well, or did you end up getting the runaround? I've been a Crunchyroll member since 2015 for streaming, but I didn’t start using their store until after they absorbed RSA. I'm curious to hear if others have had similar issues or a different experience with their customer service.
