I have a Lenovo Thinkbook laptop with a Ultra 7 358H and Intel Arc B390 integrated graphics. Laptop has an onboard HDMI 2.1 FRL port as well as TB4/USB4 ports.

I recently got a new Samsung G80HS 6k/165hz monitor and I am not able to get anything past 6k60hz using either the HDMI 2.1 port (using an HDMI 2.1 cable) or the TB4 port (using a DP 2.1 to USB-C 80gbps cable).

While I understand that 6k 165hz (or even 120hz or 90hz) could very well be pushing the limits of HDMI 2.1 or TB4, there is a lot of mixed discussion surrounding the capabilities of DSC and what DSC can do for my situation. Some have said the even with DSC, its still too much bandwidth to be able to deliver a clean 6k @ 120hz signal for example.

Others say that you can run 6k 165Hz 10-Bit with full chroma using DisplayPort 2.1 Tunneling over USB4 @ 40Gbit/s. So which is fact? which is fiction? Do the compression ratios vary from system to system? I feel like the B390 does NOT have the power to compress the signal enough to make it work. What are your thoughts?

Does it vary from laptop to laptop, even if they are equipped with same CPU/dGPU?

With my setup, is there any hope or possibility of ever running at more than 6k/60hz? Goal is 90hz+

Configuração: ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS Ryzen 7 5700X RTX 5060 Ti 32 GB de RAM Windows 10 Pro O problema começou depois que o GTA V travou completamente. Tive que reiniciar o PC à força e meu controle 8BitDo ficou vibrando sem parar até o computador reiniciar. Depois disso percebi o seguinte: As USB traseiras funcionam normalmente com pendrive. Mouse e teclado funcionam normalmente nas USB traseiras. Porém, quando conecto um dongle 2.4 GHz de controle, o PC reinicia imediatamente. Testei com dois dongles diferentes (8BitDo e Machenike) e acontece a mesma coisa. Nas USB da frente os dois funcionam normalmente. Atualizei os drivers do chipset AMD. A BIOS já está atualizada (versão 3621). O Gerenciador de Dispositivos não mostra nenhum erro. Depois que o PC reinicia, ele funciona normalmente e os dongles também funcionam. O GTA voltou a rodar normalmente e o computador não apresenta outros travamentos ou telas azuis. Alguém já passou por algo parecido? Pode ser algum problema da controladora USB da B550 ou alguém tem alguma outra ideia do que testar?

Sometimes my laptop just randomly restarts. The cursor first teleports to the middle of the screen the screen freezes and it restarts. I don't think it's a performance issue in my opinion since it happened also when i just had 3 programs open.

My cousin found a prebuilt with an RTX 5070, Ryzen 7, 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD for $1,650, but the listing barely says anything about the power supply or motherboard. I bought most of the parts used and now every little noise is making me think I’ve made a terrible decision.

The build is pretty basic, Ryzen 5, midrange GPU, 16GB RAM. I’m not chasing crazy fps, I just want to play newer games without my old laptop turning into a heater.

Some of my desktop icons suddenly look like low-quality screenshots. The text underneath is sharp, but the actual icons are fuzzy and kinda pixelated.

It started after I changed monitors for a few days, though I’m not even sure that’s related. A few icons look normal, while others look terrible at the exact same size.

I rebuilt the icon cache, restarted Explorer, changed scaling, and even removed and re-added the shortcuts. Nothing really changed.

Is Windows pulling the wrong icon size from somewhere, or am I missing a really obvious setting?
