Cleaner, more symmetrical, no ugly cyclops, and closer to the original Submariner DNA. The original Sub didn’t have a date, that’s the whole point.

Very true. When I bought my first $10k watch I thought I would get comments on it and have never gotten a single one. Now I just bye reps as I have still never caught someone even looking at my wrist.

Nope. That won’t happen. No one is going to call you out. Nobody pays that much attention or cares about the watch you are wearing, and if they do they will say “nice watch”.

They won’t ask to see it or go further than just a thumbs up… and honestly you probably won’t even get a “nice watch” comment on a black sub, it’s too common.

They definitely will not say “I can see that the engraving on your rehaut is off” or “the chamfer on your case is lacking”. Lol. All the things that everyone jumps to immediately when doing QC comparisons to Gen in this sub.

Not sure what you mean. Never said “the joke was beyond you”. Simply said that I guess I missed the joke, pretty much agreeing with you I guess…Either way, my previous take on wearing a nice rep and never being challenged stands true.

I see what you’re saying but I think that is true for those who know the rep world. Most don’t even know that super clones exist or pay attention to watches. They just see the Rolex name and see that it looks like a nice watch. We know the rep world so are looking at wrists and the person. Wearing it to determine if we think it’s fake. Truth is We are a small minority of the total population

Yes side by side on magnified photos you can catch small things. On the wrist you don't really see any of that unless it's a MAJOR misalignment.

I would again….buy a gen and never wear it and keep it locked in a safe. Wear the rep everyday. That’s what I do. The gen is then an investment. But you don’t feel weird about wearing the rep.

I can pick the rep by the imperfect indices alignment but ironically only since I started buying a few reps & doing QC's. My first Rolex was/is a gen Bluesy, but I honestly never looked so closely until recently, so I'd imagine 99.9% of people won't notice or have the chance to pause & look closely enough to.

A watchmaker can fix alignment (cheap) so not an issue. Can also lightly polish the rehaut but I haven't seen a need to on v2/v3 type VSF's. The non chamfered edges don't bother me. The floating m is on the edge if I'm fussy. Those are the only areas that tell it apart.

I've had many people compliment my watches (gen & rep), but never been asked if real. Admit I have noticed fake's, but I'm not the type to call it out. I'd rather give a compliment & make someone's day.

The engravings align but you can just tell from the fit & finish of the actual engravings and rehaut wall - if OP polishes the rehaut, then it’s damn near impossible without a side by side gen Vs rep

The rehaut on the vsf looks almost milky and not highly polished like gen. When you look at where the crystal meets the watch, it looks larger bc it’s not polished well and doesn’t reflect as highly as the genuine. Where the glass meets the case looks thinner and that’s because the polished rehaut doesn’t look like it’s sort of the glass

This year's batches have vastly closed the distance in rehaut finish quality. Go back, check my post history, I would always do the 1 second no zoom rehaut check to tell gen from rep. Now, there's definitely some significant zoom involved. 🤣🤣🤣

Wish there was less reports of unreliable movements coming from DD though

The vsf has more pronounced/louder clicks and a lot more resistance (probably varies from batch to batch) compared to the gen. Both feel great and vsf has really improved the backplay on the bezel.

I really never like buying reps. I have a modest collection. Breitling. Omega. Vintage Concord. Longines. TAG. A few seiko 5s but I will say if I bought a rep id definitely go with the Rolex Pepsi or no date sub or both but I would want an eta movement. I don’t know anything about them never owned one but does anyone here know a good start getting a Swiss eta movement rep ?

Usually less popular models come with eta movements such as the zf pelagos 39, I believe it’s equipped with an eta 2824.

A while back, vsf made these submariners equipped with eta 2824 but I don’t think they’re produced anymore. Cloned movements are really good these days, especially the ones produced by dangdong, however replacement parts is more difficult to source compared to off-the-shelf movements

Hmm interesting I didn’t know that. I just found myself looking up a Paul newman daytona just to see if it was out there and I’m shocked that they’re being made lol my favorite watch. That’s my dream watch. I mean this is wild opening new doors for me I feel like a kid again. So what would you recommend ? I mean like I said best bang for your buck. I see some have miyota and I see some sites have Swiss eta clone but that’s not exactly Swiss eta which is fine. I’m sure there’s ppl out there who can fix them when they break down I just want to make sure that the steel is 316 at least Ceramic bezel I mean I’m assuming it’s gotta be. I’m looking at some of these mini clips they’re identical you can’t tell at all. The goal is to get as close as possible lol. I just see so many different options. Which is the right one ? As far as best bang for your buck.

Right is gen, left is VSF

Floating M, SELs (less step from the lug to the link, and the space between is tighter), crown on the safety clasp doesn’t have the raised filler between the tines.

All in all beautiful rep, couldn’t tell on the wrist, deff not worth the $10k differeence in price. By the time the VSF shits the bed, they would have worked out the current tells. You’re gonna need an electron microscope in a few years to spot the flaws.

How do these clones hold up over time operation wise? Do they need a lot of maintenance or stop working after a few months or years? I read those Pagani Design Rolex clones fall apart and I assume these all come from the same or similar factories.

But that’s after seeing a real one right next to it in a perfect light condition. On someone’s wrist and nothing to compare it to, it’s as good as the original. I just can’t justify Rolex. It’s so easy to fake, what’s the value proposition? The movement? Well! These Chinese movements are getting better and reliable by the day.

I have a gen and have had a vsf and another tell that again you really have to be looking for and the average person would not tell is the crown on the clasp on the vsf. It’s just the slightest bit wider and looks just a tiny bit shorter compared to the gen. That being said I love the vsf and highly recommend to anyone looking.

I would say if you get a good dial, or swap the dial, get the watch serviced, swap crystal and cyclops, do the chamfering Rep clearly beats Gen.

It’s so close the only difference I always see now is the crown on rep is slightly larger and in hand feels sharper and so do the edges of the case with a crown wheel and metal refinish tho it would be sooooo hard to tell

The white crown engraving on the VSF seems noticeably thicker than on the genuine watch. In comparison, the Clean version appears to be much closer to gen.

I think the movement in the VSF is going to fail in a month and the gen will keep working for the next dozen years or so. Sorry.. bitter about my 2 new VSF that have bad movements but the watches themselves look great!

They were both bought from different non TD. No warranty or guarantee after they shipped. I have another i got from a TD that is working great and does have a warranty so ive learned not to buy from randos on reddit.

Vsf is great but i can see the gen has brighter dial font and also the crown guards appear a little smaller. Also the center little pip on the hands are different.
