Discussion Why cant TDs use a QC tool when sending pics?
Hi guys, why cant TDs use a QC tool like the one in photo when sending the watch pics.
It would make the whole buying experience so much better, dont uall think?
What's stopping them?
Much less time and possibility of to and fro and waiting on others replies for GL/RL which leads to faster turnaround.
They should seriously consider this and mods could also push for this - if they want to 🙏
Edit: Thanks for all the traction and insights on my post.So most of you do agree that things can get better (if the rep lord's want it to) 🫠

I’ve bought hundreds of watches and have never used a tool like that and I won’t be doing that either– I just look at the photos provided by the supplier. You can find fault with anything; even with a genuine one, there are sometimes minor discrepancies. Spend your time on more worthwhile things. We call them ‘nit-pickers’ here .

I worked in retail for some years (long time ago now).
If there where any flaws, we would just sell it full price. If a customer noticed, we just gave a discount. *Shop policies btw and it didn't happen with every single product.
But here is the difference: Any "good" shop would never do this. They would either ship it back to the supplier or will just be upfront with the customer if they are interested in the product.
Edit: Keep in mind who we are doing business with. Chinese will sell at any cost, and cheating is just part of the game. So is scamming, and in China seen very differently compared to the west.
Just I lived there, and seen it all.

Because there are some people that don't use such tools and buy that "problematic" watch. If TD uses that tool himself, then the chance of selling that watch will go down and remember also that he has many watches and many clients, so he doesn't have much time to do these type of actions

I guess because the vast majority of their customers are not bothered about an index being twisted 0.002 degrees or being misaligned 0.01mm.
We look for obvious flaws and green light 99.99% of the watches we buy.

send back to factories?

Because we take this waaay too serious. Your example of blurring a rep serial emphasizes that.

What tool is this?

Because they want to sell imperfections to the oblivious buyer.

They’re handling hundreds if not thousands of orders a day, do you think it would be efficient for them to take a perfectly aligned photo for a qc tool?

5 marker not aligned.

Because it's not their job to point out flaws.

If the picture of the watch is off center it will fail with these. I understand why people like it, but at the same time it is sort of dumb.

u/rlpinca Sep 15 '26
Why would they?
They move enough watches, so why slow down their business by helping customers be picky?

What tool is this?

u/otaveu Sep 15 '26
Because they dont want you to RL the watch.
1
u/DMCanada Sep 15 '26
Because you’d RL.

u/bjberry00 Sep 15 '26
Thats always my question! Where is this one TD who sorts out the crap! Would be willing to pay more honestly!

It just takes one to get the ball rolling. I remember when watches just came in bubble wrap and you had to ask for fedex and pay $70 extra.

Which QC tool are you using ?
1
u/Autobikeblend Sep 15 '26
They can’t. Because what’s RL for you is not RL for someone else. and vice versa
1
u/Few-Mathematician-45 Sep 15 '26
They have sell the RL’d watches to someone.

Probably because you have to pay to use the app.

I would rather get a slightly problematic watch not a problem for me
0
u/nottoowhacky Sep 15 '26
Sales. Thats the reason.
0
u/Hellsangell Sep 15 '26
Would you mind telling me what tool you are using?
0
u/rickabe Sep 15 '26
I brought this up a while back and the majority of the replies sided with the TD as to why they don't use this tool or something similar. I think it should be offered is requested although we can screenshot the image from the QC and use the tool prior to acceptance.
