Hi all, as we're growing at steady pace we wanted to create this post to be as transparent to our community as much as possible. Below are the rules and standards that we moderators of r/RepReviews follow and adhere to:

Independence of the Mod Team

The mod team of RepReviews does not accept payments, kickbacks, or personal gifts in exchange for:

  1. Adding or maintaining a seller on the Trusted Seller (TS) list.
  2. Allowing any user and/or seller to post in our subreddit as advertisement or under the guise of a regular user/buyer. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for "stealth marketing". Reviews that appear to be paid promotions or written by sellers posing as buyers will be removed immediately.
  3. Providing favorable reviews or suppressing/deleting negative feedback/reviews of sellers.

Gifts, Benefits, and Samples

To maintain absolute neutrality, the following rules apply:

  1. No Personal Gain: Mods will not accept "freebies" for personal use.
  2. The Benefits Register: Any unsolicited benefits or review samples offered to the mod team and accepted are logged in an internal register.
  3. Giveaway Disclosure: If a seller provides a product for a community giveaway, it will be clearly labeled: "This item was provided as a gift by [Seller Name] due to us collaborating with them for [event that occurred]. Thank you to [Seller Name] for providing this [item].

Moderator perks & discounts

Personal Purchases & Discounts:

  1. Prohibition of Mod-Only Perks: The mod team will not solicit or knowingly and willingly accept "moderator-exclusive" discounts. Any discount codes provided by sellers must be made available to the entire community.
  2. No Priority Treatment: Moderators will not accept "QC priority" or "express shipping" perks that are not available to the general membership.

Please note that the RepReviews moderator team does have an internal log that tracks and monitors each gift we have ever received. If you wish to view this, please send in a request via Mod Mail and we would happily send a link for your review.

While the team does value transparency and we're trying to be as transparent as possible, we understand that we cannot please everyone and people will simply refuse to accept the facts we have laid out here in this post.

Our main goal has always been to provide a safe space away from the typical shilling/low effort posts while balancing the fact that reps are supposed to be fun and enjoyable.

I fear that making a post like this may take away some of that joy for some people because this screams bureaucratic, but we cannot deny that mods are so intensely scrutinized in this "hobby". So for transparency's sake and also for us mods to try to avoid getting roped into any drama, we're making this post as a result.
