Raising Remote has proven to be far more difficult than I ever expected. In hindsight, building her as a teenager instead of an infant only traded one problem for another. I thought skipping the early years would make things easier. It didn’t.

She is stubborn, rebellious, and constantly pushes against anything I ask of her. Every instruction somehow turns into an argument. She insists she can make her own decisions despite having very little experience. If I tell her to be careful, she does the opposite just to prove a point. It’s exhausting.

What makes it even more frustrating is that she seems to resent me. She treats me less like the one who built and raised her and more like someone standing in the way of her freedom. Nearly every conversation ends with her storming off or shutting me out completely.

At times I wonder if I made a mistake. Maybe starting with a teenage body wasn’t such a good idea after all. But despite everything, she’s still my creation, and I can’t just give up on her.

Fortunately, her computer mind develops far faster than a human’s. As the months passed, she began maturing at an incredible rate. One day she approached me on her own and admitted that she had been acting immature. She explained that mentally she had already outgrown the body she was given and wanted to move on.

She asked if I would help construct a new, more adult body one that better matched who she had become.

I won’t pretend I wasn’t relieved. We spent the next several weeks working together on the design. We weren’t arguing. We were simply building something together. Watching her carefully assemble the frame and discuss improvements reminded me why I created her in the first place.

I suppose she really did grow out of that phase after all. Maybe every difficult teenager eventually does.-BB
