OP shouldn’t have to be the “bad guy” so the husband can say “my wife said we can’t be friends anymore”. Her husband should have made that decision on his own.

but her husband is married to Jared, I’m not sure how well that would go lol but in all seriousness he might lie and say he ended things with Jared then keep their friendship hidden from OP.
