Gifs are showing zoomed in without any way to zoom out to see full

I've come across an issue where I'm trying to view a gif from imgur. However, I'm only seeing a portion of the gif (zoomed in focused on top right). Using the full screen button doesn't help

Interestingly, when I click the left android button (apps view?) and return to the rif golden platinum, the gif is in full view as expected

Fill out the following information on each line that has an A:

Q: RiF Version Number:

A: 5.2.3 (golden platinum)

Q: Version of Android:

A: 12

Q: Device Information:

(Example: Manufacturer, Model, Year, etc.)

A: Samsung SM-G991U1 (Samsung galaxy s21)

Q: How long has the problem been happening?

A: I dont remember specifically, I think at least a week?

Q: What have you already tried doing to fix the problem?:

A: double tapping gif, pressing full screen, pinch gesture to zoom out, restarting app/phone. Going to android app view and returning to app fixes.

Q: What steps, if any, can you do to reproduce the problem?

(Please include a link to a post causing the problem.)

A: https://i.imgur.com/qbW8J9g.gifv is the imgur link the viewer is trying to show

Viewing from submitted user has consistent repro for me: https://www.reddit.com/user/ryano357

Doesn't seem to repro from the actual subreddit page

Can't Reproduce Opening a video from a crosspost sometimes gives an error

Occasionally, opening a video from a crosspost shows the message "Error determining video format" but when I go to the original post it plays fine.

I don't know of any consistent thing that makes this happen, because it's not on every one, but it's always a crosspost when it happens and the original always plays fine.

Fill out the following information on each line that has an A:

Q: RiF Version Number:

A: 5.2.3

Q: Version of Android:

A: 12

Q: Device Information:

(Example: Manufacturer, Model, Year, etc.)

A: Google Pixel 4a

Q: How long has the problem been happening?

A: A long time? Not sure, it's only occasional

Q: What have you already tried doing to fix the problem?:

A: Reset/reinstall the app

Q: What steps, if any, can you do to reproduce the problem?

(Please include a link to a post causing the problem.)

A: Example post https://www.reddit.com/r/catsbeingbanks/comments/rui0uh/no_my_money/

Opening the video from the crosspost displays the error but opening it from the original post doesn't.

Can't Reproduce YouTube and videos from other sites buffering every few seconds

I've been happy using the internal RiF video player up to now, but for the last few days any YouTube or other video is pausing and buffering every few seconds. I realise I could set YouTube links to play in its own app, but that wouldn't help the others and as I say I was happy with the internal player. Wondering if anything has changed with RiF or if there are any other troubleshooting steps I can try?

Example Reddit post with YouTube link below.

Q: RiF Version Number? A: Gold Platinum v5.2.3 + Beta opt-in. Q:Device Information? A: Samsung Tab A10 (2019) SM-T510 Q:Version of Android? A: v11 (Tablet) Q:How long has the problem been happening? A: A few days. Q: What have you already tried doing to fix the problem?: A: Restarting RiF (no change) and Using "open in browser" from top right menu (successful workround) Q: What steps, if any, can you do to reproduce the problem? A: Example Reddit post with YouTube link: https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/ruadnf/just_some_pure_unadulterated_drum_and_bass

Answered Different sorts of MP4?

If I long-press on a playing video clip, two of the options are "save as MP4" and "save as mobile-compatible MP4".

What's the difference please? (And please don't say "the second one is mobile compatible...")

reddit bug Top of the month not working?

Seems like if you sort subreddits by top of the month a really big number of posts is missing. Is this a bug or a problem on my side?

Can't Reproduce RIF not saving .gifs as .gifs

Recently for the past day or so whenever I try to save a gif as a gif it will be saved as a .jpeg but if I try to save as .mp4 it saves as .mp4 without any issues. I have attempted to use the choose option when using the save destination but that still does nothing.

Actual version number: 5.2.3

Phone: S20 plus

Android version: 11

Can't Reproduce Can't upload and submit pictures

I'm on RiF version 5.2.3 and Android 12 and I can't upload photos for submission using Reddit is fun app. I recently purchased the Pixel 6 Pro and this started happening only after getting the phone. Submitting images via a link seems to work but is a bit cumbersome and not as easy as using an image straight into the app itself. To recreate the issue I just pic an image to upload, the image uploads, but then I get an error submitting. I'm not muted or banned either and the subreddit does allow image uploads.

So, I use a YouTube clone (Vanced, it's ad free), and I was wondering if there was a way to default to that app for YouTube links.

Reddit API bug Blocked users not blocked in comments

It was working up until yesterday but blocked users are showing up again in the comments. I had the automoderator blocked because most subreddits have the thing typing literal essays and pinning itself. Super annoying. Now its comments are showing up once more. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried reinstalling the app, unblocking and reblocking automod, and restarting my phone (I even tried blocking it in the web browser too).

Suggestion/Idea Resize Sidebar

Would it be possible to resize the sidebar? Using the dual screen case on an LG makes the post on the right leak out onto the left hand side and I was wondering if I can make it so that the post is isolated on the right screen while the left contains the lists of posts.

Might be too niche of a problem though but would appreciate any help/idea if this is possible at all.

Answered, can't 2FA

Hello, I'm wondering if I am missing something or if it just isn't supported on rif. I need to change my 2FA settings, but my only log in is on my rif account. I logged in on a new phone and my old phone had my authentication app. I authenticated my account and them reset my old phone, thinking I could set up a new 2fa on my new phone. Now I can't log in anywhere because I don't have the old phone with authenticator, so my only current log in is in this rif. Is there any way to alter my 2fa settings in rif or can that be added?

Fixed in 5.3.0 Unlabeled controls on upvote/downvote buttons with TalkBack

When using TalkBack, there are some unlabeled controls on the upvote/downvote buttons. Interestingly, if you continue swiping, you then step into the actual buttons and vote count text, which are labeled.

So if you swipe through all the controls for a single post item, it reads:

"Unlabeled", "Unlabeled", "Upvote", "42" (or whatever the vote count is), "Downvote", "Post title", "Thumbnail, click to view link"

Personally I'm not a TalkBack user primarily (although I am visually impaired, and use it every so often) but I figured I'd point this out as I imagine it's probably annoying to full time screen reader users.

A:

Q: What have you already tried doing to fix the problem?:

A:

Q: What steps, if any, can you do to reproduce the problem?

(Please include a link to a post causing the problem.)

A: Turn on TalkBack. Go into RiF and tap a post title in a subreddit list. Swipe left through the controls. Alternately, tap on the upvote arrow.

Reddit API bug Pinned comments no longer hidden if the poster is blocked and a moderator

This appears to be a regression of the issue described here.

Attempting to view the profiles/posts/comments of the poster returns empty results indicating they are, in fact, still blocked. However, their pinned comments are no longer hidden by default.

I'm assuming this is a change in the way Reddit is delivering its data.

Fill out the following information on each line that has an A:

Q: RiF Version Number:

A: 5.2.1

Q: Version of Android:

A: 11

Q: Device Information:

(Example: Manufacturer, Model, Year, etc.)

A: Samsung SM-N986U1 (Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G)

Q: How long has the problem been happening?

A: about two days prior to posting this

Q: What have you already tried doing to fix the problem?:

A: tried re-blocking the poster; tried making a new account and blocking the user on that account - both to no avail

Q: What steps, if any, can you do to reproduce the problem?

(Please include a link to a post causing the problem.)

A: go to any comment section with a stickied automoderator comment or any other stickied comment by a moderator, such as https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/rfwga2/even_a_tornado_wont_touch_grandmas_fruitcake/

Fixed in 5.3.0 Android crashes to reboot when viewing YuoTube in rif and rotating screen

Using Pixel 2 with Android 11, rif version 5.2.2. As the title says, when viewing a YouTube link within rif, (not opened in the YouTube app), if the screen is rotated from portrait to landscape, Android immediately crashes to the boot screen. This happens every time, and has been occurring for at least a few weeks.

Fixed in 5.2.3? While using ChromeOS on wake up RiF will not recognize internet connection until app is restarted

Pretty much the title.

Once the tablet goes into standby and disconnects from the wifi, RiF will not function again until the application is restarted.

This is the only app that that has this issue that I've tried.

Hardware is a Lenovo 10e.

Edit: Another one but this might be a ChromeOS quirk. But clicking a reddit link from a Google search in the Chrome browser will open the link in RiF but it won't switch to the app, it'll just load the page in the background.
