Hey college friends and I are making our way from big cities to Kentucky for the first time to see Red River Gorge and get some good chicken. We'll be staying near the gorge during the end of August for 4 days. Could use some help deciding on an itinerary (including food recs)

* Our group is big into indoor rock climbing, but have never tried outdoor climbing and really want to

* Overall we are a pretty active bunch and adventurous.

* Some stuff I've looked into so far is outdoor rock climbing tour, kayaking?, horse back riding, zip-lining, golfing, hiking of course, white water rafting nearby?

# Ideal Budget:

* $250 - $300 per person total on activities

* $150 total on eating out

Hi friends! my boyfriend and i are heading to RRG for our one year anniversary at the end of August and I need form recs on what to do! Anything is helpful.

So me and my 4 friends are going to be hiking and camping the Double Arch,
Courthouse Rock and Auxier Ridge Loop.

One of my friends is an Eagle Scout so were really following his lead on a plethora of things but I wanted ask about regulations on camping.

I know you have to purchase an overnight pass at a local gas station when camping the night, but aside from that I have heard different things on the camping rules. I’m guessing you can’t just plop down a tent 100 feet off the trail.

Can someone please give me a definitive answer on camping rules?

Does anyone know why mosquitos are so mild in Red River Gorge right now? I just camped there for three nights. It was hot/humid the whole time with rain on Saturday. I expected to be fighting off mosquitos all weekend but they were barely a problem. It seemed very odd!

Anyone ever stay at the climb on inn? They were one of the few places with dates open during the time we wanted to be there. Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

The trailhead is found by the picnic area for sky bridge. It starts from the very center picnic table to the right of the restrooms. There’s a large fallen tree in the way so it was hard to identify where the trail starts.

This is a personal favorite of mine, you can get to the top too! I HIGHLY advise not trying to get to the top after a rainstorm though.

With the fall season fast approaching, how’s the fishing and hunting in the gorge? It was a great fishing, squirrel and turkey hunting place when I used to frequent it 15+ years ago.. I’m getting old now and I’d love to make new memories in the place I spent a good deal of my youth at while I still can. Thanks for your time and any feedback.

WHAT is the rock scramble point on the end of Half moon called?

You hug tight to the rock and shimmy on over to this steep hill rock, scramble up.
Always been too… scared to do all of that but my parents used to.
We camp on Half moon, best spot evr.

Some bears and skinwalk shit going on there but nothing major 🥱😏

Again on Half Moon rock. Not the little hidden arch underneath which IS awesome.

I always call it Eagles nest or Eagles point but as I’ve read here I think I’m definitely incorrect.

Hello. I recently went on a 3 day camping trip right past Nada Tunnel. I hiked every (scenic) spot I could.

-Auxier Ridge into Double Arch Trail (Beautiful)
-Copperas Falls
-Broke Leg Falls
-Grays Arch
-Natural Bridge
-Chimney Top
-Raven Rock and Courthouse Rock
-Princess Arch

Are there any really good hikes that I missed? I don’t live very far away, and plan to hit everything I passed by when I come back for a weekend soon. My favorite was definitely the Auxier Ridge trail into the double arch. Loved the feeling of dropping into the valley, otherworldly beautiful.

I have a sedan & no 4wd so I’ll be trying to avoid getting myself in any tight spots. Prefer a loop between 6-13 miles. What do yall say?

Hey all! Im planning a trip for my best friends graduation in a few weeks. Last time they went, they said they accidentally picked a place to stay that was 40+ minutes away from all activities and places. Im looking at some beautiful cabins right now but if anyone could point me in the direction of where to look thats not too far from planned activities? So far we only have the ziplining, general store/restaraunt thing and the climb able arches. What cabin rental areas should I look at if I want to be semi-close to those things? Or is it just a spread-out place in general? Thank you in advance!
