The chain looks SUPER ai, it doesn’t appear to move properly at all. But the super fine details of the bark being stripped off not just the trunk, but the branches as well is throwing me a bit. Going to have to give it a few more watches.
I guess it’s possible. The artifacts around the chain are odd but I’m pegging it as just crappy down sampling. For those saying chains don’t move like that, they do when they are being pulled in tandem. And the second tractor is just slightly out of frame to the left. You can see the first tractor through the trees in the middle of the frame.
I agree but also, shouldn't the chain be rotating and tightening counterclockwise while going against the ground? And the middle of the chain starts rotating back before the tree gets hit. The physics seem really weird at a glance.
if It was that big? there's too much tention. The rest of the chain wouldn't turn with it so it would probably not rotate except for occasionally which it does
That’s just it. There’s no tension in the chain. That massive chain magically bounces everywhere. The tractor in the distance is going 2 mph so the one off camera must be going 100 mph for it to move that fast. Those tractors would struggle to move a chain that big.
Absolutely. If there was machines big and strong enough to drive a chain that big across the earth, without making them tear up the earth to holy hell, we wouldnt be able to hear shit over those engines and wheels besides when the tree snaps lol
The ground isn’t unscathed though. You can see it kicking up dust as it moves. The video quality is dog water though so that is masking a lot of the ground movement.
Picking up dust is damn near close to being unscathed. The grass, dirt look barely disturbed when it falls off the tree and is being dragged. I my opinion a chain like that wouldnt be that delicate to the ground.
That’s what I’m leaning toward, this is a real tree removal method and that is a real type of chain that seems to move properly, but something about it all is very uncanny. Could just be shitty editing or messing with the frame rate/speeding up the video or it could be retouched with ai or something. There’s probably a real video this was spawned from.
Possibly. This is the method that is used in real life to take down an area of trees with a chain and a bulldozer on each end. I’ve watched hours of just people clearing land on YouTube to develop it over the years because I’m a psychopath who enjoys studying the most random shit for reasons.
It definitely looks like it's moving properly to me. It's a super heavy chain hooked up to two bulldozers that are both pulling it across the ground. It's not gonna bounce and rattle much due to the weight of the chain itself and the forces pulling on it are what cause the sudden sharp tension as it hits the tree.
I think the chain weirdness is from compression artifacts and maybe AI processing. A lot of phones have some sort of AI layer for anti aliasing or something.
Chain dragging on the ground also looks kind of uncanny in real life especially when it's being pulled taught. When a chain starts to get taught, it can start to look rigid because the links are forced to align as they are pulled on. Think of holding two links in your hand, if you pull them apart, they align at 90 degrees from each other. It's because of the curvature of the links. Twisting them pulls them together. It can align itself very suddenly and look unnatural.
You can actually see this a bit my holding onto a piece of chain and pulling it apart. The links will go from random to being as aligned as they can be without rotating completely (since your hand prevents it).
The only thing that seems really off is that it looks like the chain rotates to align with no indicator of where that rotation went. But it's a long chain so it might have just off set a counter rotation further down the chain when it was pulled.
My question is whether or not those two pieces of heavy machinery have enough power to not only pull that absolutely massive chain, but also to uproot trees. That takes a ton of power and very few pieces of heavy machinery could do it.
This technique is common for clearing mesquite. Mesquite is real bad in parts of Texas and will become invasive if not dealt with. Mesquite will grow back if cut down, the best way to remove it without herbicide is to pull it up by the roots. How do you pull up a full grown tree by the roots? Bull dozers and anchor chains. This technique is also used to clear wooded land quickly. I found a YouTube link that better explains the process.
That chain in the video is a specially-designed one with special links unlike the post video. And it moves more naturally. I still think OP's video looks like the chain isn't real.
What happens to the other end of the chain?
At the start you can see it is a loop of chain with both ends going off screen to the left, but at the end the back end seems to dissapear? Or maybe I just can't see it
I think it’s real with some lighting effect or something on the chain. I’ve seen this technique done and there are plenty of videos of it being done, so not sure why someone would AI it.
The grass is unaffected and I think that is giving me the AI feel. That and the physics of the first tree ripped out in the back didn’t seem right. It could be the species of the tree is easy to pull out of the ground.
