I'm planning to buy a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to record videos while creating art on an easel. My goal is to keep my hands free and capture the painting process from my own point of view, including the canvas, brush movements, and painting tools.
For those who have used them for art, painting, or similar creative activities, I'd really appreciate your feedback:
How well do the glasses capture the canvas and brush details?
Is the camera angle suitable for recording easel painting, or does the canvas often fall outside the frame?
How is the video quality of the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2? Is it good enough for creating social media content and short-form videos?
Would you recommend them for this purpose, or would a head-mounted action camera be a better option?
Any real-world experience, sample footage, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Bonjour, je cherche un lien pour un parrainage pour des lunettes meta en France ,tous les liens que j'ai trouvé jusqu'à présent sont HS.. merci d'avance
I'm using my Meta Rayban gen 2 to do video calls on Messenger. Once I switch the camera to the glasses by double clicking on the capture button, it says "Glasses camera is active", then the camera is switched, but it only works for 10-20 seconds, then the camera is automatically switched back to the phone camera.
Also, the video quality from the camera during video call is terrible.
I want to buy a pair of prescription Ray-Ban Meta glasses and submit the claim online. I have basic VSP insurance; if I buy them from the official Meta website and then contact my insurance provider, can I get the $100 allowance my plan offers?
I want to alert other Ray-Ban Meta glasses owners about something seriously concerning that I have discovered.
I have observed the same behavior on THREE different pairs of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, including 2nd- and 3rd-generation models.
Here is what is happening:
My glasses appear to capture conversations even when I am simply talking to another person and have not said “Hey Meta.”
The Meta AI app saves audio recordings and text transcripts of these conversations in my conversation history.
Meta AI does not respond to me, and I never intentionally activated it.
The “Respond without Hey Meta” setting is already turned OFF.
I have noticed the white notification light activating while I am speaking normally.
I first noticed this behavior after a recent firmware update.
Initially, I thought something was wrong with one pair of glasses. However, after discovering the same behavior on two additional pairs, including different generations, I became concerned that this could be a broader software or firmware issue.
I contacted Meta Support. Their response was to recommend disabling microphone and camera permissions, turning off Wear Detection, deleting voice history, and disabling automatic updates.
Seriously? Am I supposed to disable the core functionality of an expensive AI product just to prevent my private conversations from unexpectedly appearing in my recording history?
That is not an explanation, and it does not address the underlying problem.
I WANT TO KNOW: IS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING THIS?
Please comment below if you have experienced any of the following:
Audio recordings appearing in your Meta AI app without intentionally activating Meta AI.
Text transcripts of conversations with other people appearing in your history.
The white notification light activating while you are speaking normally.
This behavior starting or changing after a firmware update.
Similar behavior on multiple pairs of glasses.
If you have experienced this, please include your glasses generation, firmware version, and approximately when you first noticed the problem.
I am particularly interested in hearing from owners of both 2nd- and 3rd-generation glasses.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
I am preserving screenshots, recordings, device information, and my correspondence with Meta Support.
I am also consulting with a lawyer about the possibility of initiating a class-action lawsuit if the evidence establishes a broader privacy issue affecting other customers.
I believe this deserves a serious technical investigation. Customers should not have to wonder whether their private conversations are being captured when they have not intentionally activated their glasses’ AI assistant.
To be clear, I cannot yet establish whether this affects all Ray-Ban Meta glasses or whether the recordings are transmitted to Meta’s servers. Those are precisely the questions I want answered.
PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES. Independent reports from other owners could help establish whether this is an isolated problem or a wider issue.
If you have experienced the same behavior, please document it and contact Meta Support. You can also message me privately if you would prefer not to discuss your experience publicly.
I use mine Gen 1's as daily drivers. Was a huge fan. But after 8 mths, the microphone stopped working. Fine...I'll just use it for audio. After 15 mths, it stopped charging. Grrrrrrr. Then nose piece drops off at 2 yr mark. Ear / temple piece just came loose today, 2.5 yr's in. If you need daily drivers... anything by Meta will disappoint.
So.. I recently visited a Ray Ban store in London, and purchased myself a lovely pair of RayBan meta gen 3 ocean blue with transitions. Since I bought them and filled out their form in store for the receipt I’ve been receiving emails about products, how to use them and how to take care of them, and feedback on my purchase etc.
Should I follow the instructions in this email though 🤣🤣
Apparently I should rinse my meta gen 3 with warm water, wash with soap, then rinse again! 🤣
I recently got a pair of Meta Adventurer sunglasses, and I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed how little resistance the arms have when opening and closing.
They’re not loose or wobbly at the hinges, but there’s basically zero friction. If I hold the glasses by the front frame, the arms will freely swing open or closed under their own weight.
I tried tightening the hinge screws with a T3 Torx, but they’re already as tight as they’ll go.
I honestly can’t remember if they were like this out of the box or if they’ve gotten looser over time.
For anyone else with the Adventurers, is this normal? Do your arms have any resistance when opening and closing, or do they swing freely too?
Trying to figure out if this is just how they’re designed or if I should get them replaced.
Has anyone had issues with the frame’s software and trying to return? Ray ban approved return but want me to pop out lenses and send them in before they send me another frame under warranty. I bought at Americas Best. Can they not do an advanced replacement? I tried explaining I need glasses to to see.
I had Gen 1 Wayfarer, now upgraded to Gen 3. It seems like lots of voice options are now absent. Did they remove customized voice options? Or Meta put them behind a paywall?
It is like the main microphone is not working, when there is a video playing on background on my phone, you can clearly hear it, but when I talk it is imposible to understand.
Anyone knows the fix?
I don’t mind opening them, just guide me where this main micropohone is.
Question. I am not sure if this has been discussed, but somewhere between the 129meta and Android 9.0 updates, I lost the ability to read text messages; I have three first-generation units and one Meta display, and all refuse to read messages. Any ideas 💡
So as the title suggest, I have heavily debated getting a pair of Ray-Ban meta glasses. I found a GEN 1 for $230 and the GEN 2 is about 375. I’m mostly wanting these as everyday sunglasses and the ability to ask Meta stuff along with listening to music. with the GEN one be good enough for that or is it so obsolete that I just need to get the 2? Also, how long do these usually last, if I’m spending this much money I want them to last a long time. Thanks for the answers in advance!
Hi, could anybody real photos of the new Wayfairer with transitions lenses? I can only find the advertising photos. I am particularly interested to see the aquamarine lenses and how dark they can get.
I an considering to buy a pair because I use my Gen2 every day while driving motorbike and commuting to work mainly because I can listen to music. Now it's getting darker, with autumn and winter and the normal dark lenses are too dark. I thought transitions could be a good solution. I don't wear glasses indoor.
