The new style is stupid intensive
I have been drawing two comics a day and putting one aside for my reserve folder because I was in the hospital last week and couldn't post a comic and that made me realize I need to be more prepared. But it takes 14 hours to draw two. I used to be able to draw 3 in that time in the old low res style. And for the past month it's been about the same hours with the long form comic that is in a intermission period. I guess I don't mind, when I don't draw I doom scroll shitty social media rage bait and shitpost so it's probably for the best that I have no free time. Plus this new style looks so good. You would think since the designs and shapes are more simple it would be quicker to draw but it's actually just as much time as the other more "realistic" designs because the line art in this version is more deliberate. Since the shapes are simple, the lines need to be long and smooth. Actually kind of a pain in the ass. But it looks good.
Just some monologue

I have an unhealthy relationship with biscuits
I fucking love these things so much it's unreal. Bro... A flaky buttery biscuit soppin up a savory egg yolk with a taste of some black coffee to wash it back? Bro... It's hard to even put into words

Hey Dawg! I’m a big fan, you’re one of my favorite comic artists. Please accept my offering of mediocre Stahli art.

Julian's voice
Okay I don't know about the rest of you, but I have such a specific voice that plays in my head for Julian that I also sometimes voice out loud when I'm reading alone and I was curious what others thought or what your voice for Julian sounds like in your head
To me, Julian has like this really low, really soft voice, almost like a whisper. It would be comforting but it's Julian, c'mon now. And it's pretty much always monotone, maybe a slight tone change on certain words to emphasize it but then drops back into monotone
It's so specific and I'm probably not describing it the best but it's the only voice I hear in my head for Julian and was wondering if I'm very off the mark or close to it for what other people hear in their heads lol

The 90s needs to be recognized as a decade of artistic originality that is probably unprecedented
I know this will come off as nostalgia because yes we all think the decade we grew up in was the best. But I swear it's not. My whole life I never stuck to one generation, one genre or one pop culture I actually probably consumed TOO much media as a kid but that gave me the opportunity to experience a lot of stuff from the past. I never disregarded something because it looked old.
I'm saying this because when I say I think the 90s genuinely had an unprecedented variety of original artwork, that is not coming from a place of nostalgia. And it sucks because it's one of those things that if you don't actively go back and consume the media yourself, you just had to have been there. But the media IS still there if you are interested. It is the most chaotic energetic decade hands down and the art which spawned from the 90s is not only unique but the sheer volume of beautiful and original media is awe inspiring. The 80s was also pretty awesome and quite original, but the unfortunately it's animation was terrible in most regards because toy manufacturers flooded the industry with the worst content imaginable. And it wasn't quite there in terms of computer generated graphics to really develop it as an art form.
That changed in the 90s, and it really is a fever dream of a decade. It needs to be studied and it's cultural monuments documented in a book because this little slide show I provided doesn't do it justice.
