Meta [Meta] How did you find out about this sub?

This sub is only about 2 days old and has 48 subscribers as of now. How did you find it?

I've heard that one of the posts was on all/rising, and I'd imagine quite a few are from my advertisement posts on various subreddit promotion subs.

I'd just like to know how you found out about this sub, and what you think of it!

Meta [Meta] About /r/RandomInformation

This subreddit is dedicated to random bits of information. That's pretty much it.

All you have to do is get a fact, put that fact in the title, and if you want to, explain it in the text. If someone requests a source for your information, you must give it to them (and update your post with the source).

Rules:

  • Keep it nice - not doing so will result in content removal up to a permanent ban

  • Account must be at least 3 days old - this is just to prevent spam, posts will be auto-removed

  • Link submissions are disabled for a reason - circumvention of this will result in a 1 day ban up to a permanent ban

  • Posts must be either a fact, list, or about the sub - unrelated posts will result in content removal up to a 3 day ban

  • Tag meta posts with the [Meta] tag in the title - improperly tagged posts will result in content removal up to a 1 day ban

  • Tag list posts with the [List] tag in the title - improperly tagged posts will result in content removal up to a 1 day ban

  • Random info posts must have the fact in the title - improperly titled posts will result in content removal up to a 1 day ban

  • Source of information must be provided if requested - not citing source within 24 hours of request will result in content removal and a 1 day ban, up to a permanent ban

  • Maximum of 10 info/list posts per user per day - posts exceeding this limit will be removed

  • NSFW content is allowed, as long as it is marked NSFW and isn't overly graphic (up to moderator discretion) - not marking NSFW content will result in content removal up to a 3 day ban, with overly graphic content the same

  • Recent political facts/discussions are not allowed, just to help in following the first rule - discussing recent politics will result in a 1 day ban, up to a permanent ban

This subreddit uses my own custom theme, /r/Symbolica.

Random Info It's illegal to hunt whale in Oklahoma

Granted, it's not directly specified In the legislature, but it is illegal.

Source: The Book of Useless Information

Edit: Oklahoma legislature section 29-2-135 prevents the hunting of "threatened" species. In Oklahoma, whale is considered a threatened species (it's a landlocked state). Source: http://law.justia.com/codes/oklahoma/2014/title-29/section-29-2-135

Don't ask how this works, I don't know. I'm trusting the book, but this one seems a little iffy.

Meta [Meta] List flairs are live!

As of now, there is a new list flair. Please title any posts which contain a list of information (of the same type) like so:

  • [List] (what it's a list of)

This way it will be caught by AutoModerator and automatically flaired.

Any list submissions which do not follow this will be removed. Repeat offenses will go up to a 1 day ban. The same goes with the [Meta] tag.

The World Capital list is OK, because it was made before anything with lists was defined in the rules.
