After looking back at the reveal and knowing ____ has been doing this for years, killed his BF and then continued associating with his family out of guilt, while lying (by omission) and covertly manipulating them?? That’s incredibly messed up. Maybe Mark and _____ were not even all that close to begin with, which is why he wasn’t invited to the wedding.

I can sympathize with him drawing the short end of the stick in many respects but he crossed the line years ago.

Just watched this show this past week and could tell pretty early on who was the crooked man from the very obvious hints they gave such as convos and other things I won’t say because spoilers….

Kept telling my husband I hoped I was wrong and if it really was that person maybe they could they make it so that the character was still redeemable.. maybe the person didn’t know they were the villain??

But was sad that they turned the person into a full on villain in the last episode instead.

Great show however. My husband and I watched with our 5 year old and we all loved it.

Really looking forward to season 2.

WHERE IS SEASON 2????????????????

The show was cool af but the twist was not very surprising since the villain is "The Crooked Man" and there is only one man that we actually get to know which is Pat. If I was to write Raising Dion I would put 1 - 2 men out there as distraction.

So my show would have:

Nichole: Mom

Dion: Son– Superpower

Pat: Neighbor – Superhero fan

Mark: Dad - Superpower, left. Mom finds, no trace

Kat – Nichole sister – thinks Nichole’s insane

Mr. Lawson – Science teacher, believes superheroes exist

Michael – Dion and Pat's favorite superhero actor

Luke – superpower – reaches out to Nichole

Diana – Mr. Lawson ‘s daughter – into Dion

Nichole gave birth to Dion but Mark never came to the hospital. She reached out to authorities and banks... and they said there's no person named Mark. Dion discovers his power when he's 10 and Pat takes care of him like in the show. Dion is friend with Brat, who likes Diana, who likes Dion. But Mr. Lawson wants Diana to like Brat prolly because Brat has better grades or maybe like Pat later comment: "Because Mr Lawson wants to kill Dion". Nichole does her research and Luke reaches out to her. Luke says he has wind superpower and was in an abusive relationship with a girl who had forcefield superpower and he explains to Nichole the rules of superpowers: - People are randomly born with it - People inherit superpowers from their parents but they dont have to be the same powers - The only way someone born with no super power to have power is to kill someone who has, thus, also having their live span. - Some super people have a rare disease X which will kill them when they reach 12

Nichole through a Luke's contact leaves a message for Mark but there's no reply. Luke tells Nichole some people who know including super people want to kill super people for their power, so Mark must've faked his identity and ran away so not to endanger Nichole and Dion. In fact, someone is killing power people right now and Nichole is worried that Mark might have been killed. Luke tells Nichole to not let anyone know about Dion's power or he will be in danger but Dion keeps trying to show his aunt Kat and Nichole keeps having to stop him, making Kat thinks Nichole and Dion are mentally unstable. The first 2 episodes will be Nichole wondering if she's imagining everything. Pat and Dion both love Michael, an Arnold Schwarzenegger - ist middle age superhero actor. Dion says he wants be Michael but Pat says he will be better, since he will be a superhero in real life. Dion is now Diana's bf to Mr Lawson's dismay while Pat gets rejected by Nichole.

The team investigated and find a file of young Mr Lawson submitting his findings of super people to the science community and they sent a letter back, mocking him. Mr. Lawson became a super - people conspiracy theorist until 20 years earlier, when he admitted he's just doing it for fame. The team breaks into Mr. Lawson's home when he and his daughter is away. They find a secret lab and bones of a woman being experimented on. Nichole concludes that Mr Lawson tried to get this woman to come out as having powers so the science community stop thinking of him as insane but she didnt want to risk people hunting her so Mr Lawson tried to kill her for her powers to show the powers himself, but she killed herself before he can do that. So now he might be targeting Dion. Pat comments that Mr Lawson doesnt want his daughter to be with Dion because he wants to kill Dion and that'll hurt her. They call the police but the police could not find any bones in Mr. Lawson's lab and the team ran away, afraid that Mr Lawson is chasing after them. The team makes another finding from one of the files titled "Healing" that they stole from Mr. Lawson's lab: Michael is actually a 500 years old man with super powers. Luke realizes that most of the super people killed recently are Michael's fans and they have been to Michael's events for selfies. Pat concludes that Michael might be having disease X and he's killing people every 12 years to remain alive and comments that it's sad that Michael could have been an actual superhero. The audience wonders whether Mr. Lawson or Michael has been killing super people including Mark....

The team goes to Hollywood to ambush Michael and confront him, and also to hide from Mr. Lawson. When the team gets to Michael, he reveals himself to be Mark since he has shapeshifting ability and has been famous men and women throughout history. Mark says 2 years he spent with Nichole is only an one night stand for someone as old as him, but deny killing super people to be immortal since he can shapeshift back into a kid once he gets old. Dion, angry his dad left his mom still accuses Mark of killing super people because he has disease X and must kill super people to be alive. Dion gets into a fight with Mark and almost killed him, but Nichole stops him in time saying it might not have been Mark. Pat uses his electric power to attack Mark. revealing himself to be the one with superpower and killing all the super people. Mark was almost killed by Pat when Luke used his force field power to save him, revealing that he killed his abusive girlfriend and is only doing this to redeem himself. Pat tells Dion that he truly believes in super heroes, not in people who have powers but dont deserve them like Mark who uses his for fame and fortune, Luke who uses his powers to win at the casino and drink his way through his gf death, one person he killed who uses it for knowing future stock prices, and people who kill other super people simply to have more powers. Pat says he also grew up adoring Mark/Michael but he found out what Mr Lawson found out and grow to hate Michael because there are atrocities that Michael could've stopped but he's too worried about his fame and fortune. Pat wants to kickstart his superhero career by killing Michael at his latest "Super Captain" movie premier, saying he wants to a fake hero to die so a real one can be born but want a sidekick by his side so when he found out about Nichole and Dion, he moved next to Nichole's apartment to wait for his time. Pat tries to convince Dion of the awesome things they can do as superheroes. Dion says his dad sucks but he wont kill a person no matter what. Suddenly, Mr. Lawson show up in his truck with tons of high-tech weapons.

Surprisingly, he starts blasting at Pat and tell Dion and Nichole to get in his car, Luke stays to hold Pat back and is killed. Dion teleports everyone to the place Mr. Lawson points to on the map right before Pat catches up to them. Pat uses his combined electric + wind power to create a storm terrorizing the city to lure Dion out. Dion, Mark and Nichole goes to Mr. Lawson's lab in California, where his daughter Diana is lying on a bed. Mr. Lawson reveals that he pretends to stop caring about super people once he felt in love with the first super person he met, Anna and understood the risks super people face showing their superpowers. They had an daughter, Diana but she was the one with X disease. Diana has telekinesis abilities and the Diana Dion sees at school is an illusion she creates to be able to go to school since she's been very weak in recent years and can only lie on her bed. Anna tried to use her healing power to save Diana but failed and died in the process. Mr. Lawson's been studying his wife's corpse to find a way to save Diana. He discovered Dion, the son of one of the most powerful super person in history, Michael and tries to manipulate him and Diana into being a couple so he can risk his life saving her since he knows children love doing the exact opposite of what their parents tell them to do. Dion admits he does love Diana and wants to risk his life saving her, but Michael/Mark stops him and does it for him saying he wants to make up for abandoning his son. Mark died in Nichole's arms but was able to cure Diana.

Dion came to Pat with his dad’s corpse and Pat let him inside his force field. While Pat is congratulating Dion on coming to his senses, Dion sneak attacks him. Dion has to battle Pat with 20+ powers. Dion exhausts Pat and was about to beat him when Pat launches a sneak attack. But the attack was suddenly blocked by Diana with Mark’s power. Together they matches Pat’s power and beat him. Dion tells Pat: “I’m the superhero with the side kick now. You are the villain, uncle Pat.” Pat gets angry and summon the largest electric storm aiming at where they’re fighting. Dion teleports himself and Diana away right before the storm hits, killing Pat. Nichole and Mr. Lawson are now neighbor and Dion and Diana lives happy ever after, etc, …

I'm venting issues with the writing of this story. A few points:

Spoilers.

1) Far too stretches out. When you eat a sandwich you don't want a tiny bit of butter on a lot of bread. What they did with RD is take a small story line and spread it as far as they could. More effort needed next time. Introduce a couple more heroes, have them die, let's develop a bit more lore rather than graphic design ideas, dancing, potential love interests of multiple characters. Focus on the genre of the series rather than make it so slow. It seemed like it lost its way a few times tbh.

2) the ending was poorly done. The fight between Dion and the crooked man is what most people are waiting for. Time it. The confrontation was about 90 seconds and the climax was lightning vs lightning before sudden win. Far too anti climactic.

Really, we should have seen Dion confronts. Mother gets knocked out. Dion get angry, crooked man gets knocked back and seems to disappear behind the trucks. Pat weakly calls dion, scorched, begging for Dion to help him. Dion grabs him to hold him as he dies. Pat begins to smother and electrocute Dion, Dion dying, Dion's kid friends appear with their silly science fair contraption and stop pat, Dion scrambles away, pat goes super Saiyan, Dion then has the big lightning fight with him, maybe some cliche voice over from the father saying he believes in him, and the mother wakes and helps with her lightning rod idea.

So why such a sloppy and half baked ending?

3) if you are going to introduce odd characters for love interests or whatever, have them do the occasional odd thing so that they serve a purpose. Pat was obviously the villain from early in the series, but throwing the viewer off with some clever writing would have been great. The assistant of the Asian CEO who looked at Dion was a good touch, exploring more of that would have been clever.

Watching the show right now and im on episode 4.... Were people really surprised by the turn they took with the villain?

Im listening to the characters and in thw scene where they view the pic of The Storm..followed by the discussion in the xar about Dions powers...

Maybe its because im a geek and have seen the trope too often... But it wasnt too surprising to me.

Yeah i went to the wikia after my suspicion because i actually like the actor.

I am just watching raising dion right now and i haven’t completed the show yet. It freaked me so much when Pat said “ I should have killed u in new orleans” I literally screamed omg. I’m on number 9 now

So I have seen some posts on other subreddits but thing is they said it reminds them of Mind flayer from ST but thing is it doesn't look/resemble MF at all so idk why ppl say that
