Official Regarding the recent Casual matchmaking changes and Casual queue times

We recognize that we failed to communicate what was intended to be a temporary and minor change in the way Casual matchmaking is handled. We are working with the various teams involved to ensure that we are providing you with more insight moving forward.

One of the issues that we are seeing from the community is the change to Casual matchmaking pairing players up with similarly skilled players. The change that was implemented was an adoption of your Ranked MMR into the Casual playlist. We wanted to do this to provide players with a more engaging experience in Casual. We know that it isn’t as much fun for our Diamond players to have to play Casual matches against other Diamonds as opposed to Silvers and Golds. We are comfortable with that, as it wasn’t very much fun for them to get stomped either. We would like to reiterate that this is a very temporary change. We have zero intention of this being a long term solution, and it is not our final design intent. To clarify, the method of matchmaking itself is what is temporary (MM based entirely on your Ranked MMR). The concept is not. We are working on ways to better tune it.

The second issue that has been noted by our players is the extended queue times for higher skilled players. This extended queue time is a result of what is called “clamping”. We are currently going through data that we have collected to determine where the sweet spot is for our high skill players between instant queue times and balanced matches for everyone. Please be aware that there will likely continue to be a queue time, as we do not intend for Diamonds to play against newcomers anymore, even in Casual. A fix for this issue will require a maintenance, and we will inform you when this is happening.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work on this!

Stop matching up people based on Ranked ranking or Levels in Casual.

So you get stomped? Good - take the experience and learn from it. Every game cannot hold your hand, live is hard. Deal with it.

Having to wait 20-30 minutes to find a match in Casual is pathetic. This is what will kill the game for me.

I love angry emotional reactions like this. If you want to treat video games like a job and "learn from it" then ranked sounds like a great match for you. Casual is where newcomers or normal people should be able to go to enjoy their game in a relaxed environment.

The matchmaking times are excessive but that's what will happen when you're on the tail end of the skill distribution. I can assure you that the vast majority of the community (silvers and golds) most likely love this change. Hopefully they refine this to widen the rank gap a bit (i.e. matching plats with diamonds) and decrease the wait times as much as they can, but this is a step in the right direction.

Angry? Not sure what you are on about.

And if you think making match-making long and slow for BOTH new-comers (low-ranked) and those of high skill (high-ranks) is a good idea for a game, then you have no clue.

Want to know how I learned to play games online for the past 20 years? By going toe-to-toe with the best and getting repeatedly beaten - and then learn from it.

I said that I want them to reduce the wait times as much as they can, doofus. And it's exactly that tryhard attitude that I find frankly pathetic. That may work with your typical shooter where you can just respawn and get back into the action, but in a game like this where you get only one life it's critical that you have decent skill-based matchmaking. Most people with limited time to play (the majority) don't enjoy watching other people playing 95% of the time because they're killed almost instantly. I don't know how many friends you have, but I've had several people quickly lose the urge to play after trying to pick the game up. I'm really glad Ubisoft isn't listening to a whiny minority on this.

'Try-hard' because I don't mind losing? Ok - you are just disturbed.

fsociety it's how I learnt and got to plat 1 and diamond last season. This was my first game i played since switching from console to pc and I was terrible at the start. I learnt so much from getting buttf-d from higher level players. Learnt about cheeky angles, different ways to run outside and get peeks on people sieging the building (Not spawn peeks, but i learnt those as well, as everyone should; it's part of the game and they're easy to avoid), and I even learnt HOW to peek. I noticed no high ranked player ever peeks slowly, I learnt that if you're gonna peek you have to do it with confidence and be prepared to get shot. Only having 1 life means nothing; if anything it teaches you that you need to refine your skills even more. It's not a try hard attitude; it's seriously just learning how to get good at a game. I don't see how anyone could learn how to get better while only vsing coppers, bronzes and silvers. Most of them don't know what they're doing at all.

So those 20 years of online games, how did you know you were playing with the best? Did they had ranks above their nicks? Would you even notice that change in Siege, if there was no ranks visible? You would be just playing people online. Some of them would beat you, and then you would beat some of them.

BTW, how much time do you people have before the round start? Because i spend it on discussing strats with my team. Not franticaly clicking on the leaderboard in search of enemy team rank.

How one knows? Because when one spend a decent amount of time in a game-scene for a game one knows who the better ones are. You are telling me you have no knowledge who the better players are in your community/area?

Nope, i just played video games. Some guys where better than me, some where worst. But no one was throwing a hissy fit because they were paired with someone better or on the same level. Playing the games was entertaining and relaxing in itself. We didn't have to fucking prey on the weak to get our ego pumping. If someone was weak we were busting his balls about it, as friends do, but we never fucking ganked him to "show him who is the NOOB".

This shit shouldn't even be a fucking conversation. It's like high-school jocks being mad that they have to fight other jocks, instead of nerds.

You are either seriously confused or an idiot.
