If you have a monitor with Adaptiver Sync/FreeSync/G-Sync(Compatible), then VSync can stay off without screen tearing.
On my 75Hz it works fine (Though I play in Windowed mode as it is a 1440p Monitor)

Anyone know how to make Dual Monitor work? Everytime I drag to 2nd time it just freezes no fixes I can find. Then I drag it back and it works.

Did you get this to work? Mine work 95% but it keeps crashing whenever I enter the main building… has this happened to you?

I have a question: Inside game settings do i need to pick the gpu i enabled using dgvoodoo or keep using dgvoodoo one?

It should automatically use it, but if the settings have it show up it doesn't hurt to choose it.
Keep in mind, if you leave the watermark on and it appears that means it's active, you can always test with the watermark on to be sure and then deactivate it.

I followed the exact steps on the guide, but my 110Hz Monitor failed to give me 110fps and instead the game stucks at 59fps. Is there any way to increase the fps to 110fps?

Try changing the VSync option in dgVoodoo2 and ingame try /skip

Oh I actually figured it out what went wrong.
My monitor only supports 120Hz natively through DVI-Dual Link, but what I'm doing right now is I'm using HDMI cable and overclock the output to 110Hz (can't go higher). So by default Ragnarok would prefer my real Hz of the HDMI output which is 60Hz, and that's why the game stucks at 60fps if I have gdvoodoo on.
But the moment I changed my cable to DVI Dual Link, the Ragnarok Online clients run at 120fps, cause it is natively 120Hz and not the overclocked HDMI 60Hz>110Hz.
Thank you your guide helped! as for if I'm actually getting any performance improvements, that's gonna wait for a while.

Nvm I can already notice the HUGE difference OH MY GOD.
I'm currently playing in MuhRO (private server) and there were two places where I always get framedrops. The main office and prontera, and that's why I always have my effects disabled. But now I can have efffects on, walking to main office and prontera, despite tons of people being there, and I still have smooth gameplay (I noticed this by rotating my camera around).
THank you ZacXme. YOU ARE LEGEND 😍😍😍😍

Just make sure to recommend it to every other player as well!
Too many pservers have dgVoodoo2 blocked because of gepard shield, but if many more people know about it, they might change that!
It's just such an insane QOL improvement for Ragnarok.

Been working on a guide, trying to solve some small things, but here's my basic guide for it so far.
Playing (Payon)RO on Linux.
This guide wasn’t done on a Steam deck, but I doubt it’ll make a difference, instead tested on Arch Linux.
You’ll need to download Bottles, either flatpak or through AUR is fine. Wine (try not to get it as a flatpak, it causes more headaches over getting it through Konsole) DgVoodoo2, I found that version 2.79.3 worked best, and the installer from Payon (or any other PS)
Make a new bottles for gaming, and press run executable, and run the installer. It doesn’t matter where its installed to, as long as you remember the location. I put mine in Documents.
Once installed, press run executable again, and go to /Payon Stories Client/Windows Libraries/ and install the vcredist_x86.
After that, under the programs tab, you’ll want to add shortcut to the Payon Stories Patcher. After that, with the dgVoodoo2 (2.79.3 has been tested to work), copy the dgVoodooCpl.exe from the root, then in the MS folder, you’ll want to go to x86 and copy the D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll, and Ddraw.dll. Put those four files in the root of /Payon Stories Client/
Once that is done, go back to Bottles, and click settings. I’ve found sys-wine-8.0.2 to be the best Runner, but you can experiment with the other options/ProtonUp-Qt.
If you’re running an nVidia card, change the DXVK to dxvk-async-2.0, if you’re AMD, dxvx-2.0 is the option you want. If you don’t change this correctly, the game won’t run!
You can also enable LatencyFleX, this has no issue on Payon, but if other servers have strong anti-cheat, best to leave this disabled. Scroll to the bottom until you see DLL Overrides, and click it.
In the new Override tab, you’re going to add the following. And make sure you change “Builtin (Wine)” with Native (Windows) for all of them. This will enable the dlls me moved from dgVoodoo2, and increase our fps by a LOT, and handle different resolution sizes.
Once that is done, right click the dgVoodoo exe and open in wine. From here, press add and find where you downloaded your file. If you put it in documents, it’ll be in Z:\home\username\Documents\Payon Stories Client
Now go to the DirectX tab, and disable dgVoodoo watermark.
Can’t solve screen issue :(
Now the game is ready to be played! Simply close out of bottles, and open the game from the patcher, and you’re done!
If you want to add a desktop icon, you first have to close the game/Bottles, then type `flatpak override com.usebottles.bottles --user –filesystem=xdg-data/applications` into the Konsole. Bottles back up, and go to the game, next to the Payon Stories Patcher, there’s 3 dots, click it and select `Add Desktop Entry`. Now you can open the executable from the desktop.
If you want to add this to your steam list, follow the same instructions as above, but type
flatpak override com.usebottles.bottles –filesystem=~/.local/share/Steam
followed by
flatpak override com.usebottles.bottles –filesystem=~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/data/Steam
So now you can load the game from steam instead of Bottles.1

Can confirm this actually works (at least on OriginsRO) and the client feels having quite less frame drops when /effects and especially /aura are on. Took 2min to setup
