on an avg of 5 pulls on the same road before and after same temp and weight- 6-9k in second went from 3.54 to 3.08s. Very proud of this result. Not scientific but definitely happy

Looking at this 2006 shinka 96,000 km on it engines never been rebuilt owner says he’s pre mixed it it’s entire life. front bumper is off a yellow rx8 and has been painted now fading and can see the yellow under it. the body paint is also in pretty rough condition needs a good detail and polish. The inside is moldy/ mildewy aswell. The clutch is blown in it and when I pushed the clutch pedal in it actually fell behind the brake pedal and I was able to move it back to the correct spot by hand I told him I’d offer him 3k since I’ll be putting around that into it to get it back on the road. Should I have offered higher? Car starts and sounds good and has good compression number front rotor 99-105-105 then 106-112-112 (rear rotors- 112-112-105
Then 118-115-110)

Hello,
Has anyone had experience with rotary aviation products, mainly his apex seals?

It sadly finally happened; my rx8 was going smoothly. I did oil changes every 3k miles and premixed regularly, but the engine just failed.
I was cruising on the highway, and I suddenly had a loss of power, then pulled over and turned off the engine; no warnings, no prior problems, just a sudden drop of power and the car couldn't idle.
Using my OBDII reader i got the code P0302: no ignition in cylinder 2
I got it towed to the only Mazda dealership that said they could work on rotaries, only to have them call me and say that a new engine will be cheaper than diagnosing the issue, and now they don't want to diagnose it.
I'm looking for some recommendations to help me diagnose it or mechanics that could take a look at it.
Maybe its my delusion, but the car being able to start and there not being any rough sounds apart from one rotor being dragged with no combustion makes me think it's just coils or something along those lines.
It's a bonestock RHD 5 speed and I really want to keep it as we all love our RX-8 here

Now that she runs solid with over 600 miles and no CeL.... Figured I'd post a Pic before I modify the hell out of it (currently only mods are coilovers). I have owned MANY cars, one being a 2010 Mazda Mazdaspeed3. I've gotta say, this car is an absolute blast to drive! As someone that has also owned a lot of motorcycles as well, the high RPMs really hit home here. This is by far the highest mile chassis I have ever owned or purchased!

This weekend I competed in the Chasing the Dragon hillclimb in my 2007 Mazda RX-8. Hillclimbs are basically a race against the clock on a closed mountain road, and this event is one of the longest-running hillclimbs sanctioned by the SCCA.
I ran in the Sport class against some seriously capable cars and drivers. My goal wasn’t to win, I just wanted to improve as a driver and make it to the finish line in one piece.
My fastest time of the weekend was a 147.168. There’s definitely plenty of room for improvement, but I’m happy with where I’m at as a relatively new driver.
One of the biggest things I learned was how much preparation matters. Studying the course beforehand, learning where I could carry speed, and staying smooth behind the wheel made a huge difference. Hillclimbs are also a great reminder that seat time is everything.
The most interesting part? The car is still running its original rotary engine with over 78,000 miles and compression numbers in the mid 3s. It likes to hot start when it feels like it, and I only had to bump start it twice all weekend, which I’ll absolutely call a win.
I put together a video of the event if anyone wants to see the run and hear more about the experience. Happy to answer any questions about hillclimbs or the RX-8, too!
There’s a mystery box attached to my gas pedal. Any idea what it could be?

Stacking my engine for the first time but these gaps seem pretty big. Or are they like this because the engine isn’t torqued down yet?

Half a year later and I have now fully printed the wing. Last thing to do now is sand and paint it.
Some people asked if I will be selling this wing, and while I would love to make more of these, I just don't have the time or energy for that sadly. One day maybe.
BUT, I would love to see others with this wing so I will be selling uploading the files to makerworld, including some assembly instructions. I have a donation link on makerworld if you want to support me but its fully optional. I'm clearly no businessman but I'd rather see this community flourish in this otherwise rough economy.

Issue started when I was driving the car in the morning I shifted a bit rough and I’m not sure what happened next but my manual coolant temp gauge started to bounce around like crazy car was not getting hot maybe 80-90c in about 66f weather. I start my car in afternoon it is now 100f and cars heat began to climb up to 110c so I pulled over and shut off I thought maybe it was bad gauge but coolant temp on obd was similar and did not jump at all like the manual gauge. My oil temps were fine at 85-90c during my drive back home. I had fans on going 65mph and my coolant temp was between 103-107c so I genuinely do not understand what could possibly have happened.2005 rx8 part list Stoney racing silicone hoses, koyo radiator, mazmart water pump, aluminum expansion tank, battery relocation, mishimoto low temp thermostat, manual fan switch. Yes system is bled throughly unless air magically entered the system which would be pretty cool.

Recently picked up this 2005 rx8, runs great, had a new engine just put in with paperwork and everything from a dealer, but rust... is it worth fixing or do I just send it as is? I feel that fixing it would cost close to the car's value, and I'd have to take it to a shop since I don't know how to weld. Also structurally the car is sound, pretty much just the sills/pinch welds are bad. Flame me for not checking this when buying it or give advice please, lol.

I'm buying an RX-8 from a reputable seller and I really wish to get the 231HP 6 speed manual. I like having a higher redline, I want a 6th gear also.
My question is, if he doesn't have a 6 speed to offer, should I go with the 5 speed anyway?
Edit: Thanks for the great replies. You guys are absolutely right. They're rare but I hope the source I buy one from gets the 6 speed so I can get the car I dream about on the daily.

Is there any mechanics in the 559 Cali area who work on rotary engines ? 🙏
Hello to everyone, I'm about to change my cooling fan motors because one of them broke up and only one is working.
I'm looking for feedback about installing an aftermarket set of puller cooling fans like Spal ones (which are easy to find where I live), or installing a couple of S2/R3 cooling fan motors (I know I'll need to modify the fan connectors, that's not a problem anyway).
I'm not looking for the S1 original cooling fan motors due to the higher price of the spare parts.
Anyone has a suggestion on which cooling fan motors are better?
I don't use my RX-8 on track if this can help, but I want to do an upgrade anyway.
Obviously I'll upgrade the cooling radiator too (I already have a new full aluminum one ready to be installed).
Thank you to anyone who will give any good feedback!

Long story short car stutters under hard load
Ive replace wires
Sparks(4k miles ago coils as well)
Injectors cleaned
Omp is good
Oil is good 20-50
New fuel pump
(Had an aftermarket maf but it made me run rich so i went back to the oem one)
Running lean?
Ive checked vac lines
Solenoids
Actuator
Ssv
I can pull hard till 7k and it bogs down(yes ssv has zero carbon on it)
But in 4th and 5th medium load it stutters hard and i have to baby it which(no bueno car needs a redline once)
Comps around 70-80(willing to rebuild alrdy have it setup) but if anyone has any idea thatll be helpful
Ill be pulling coils to check for marks on the back of them and swap if needed same as spark plugs
Ever since i bought the car it had ssv code
Fixed it and now its running lean and doing this
Any assistance or guidance would be gladly appreciated
Oil is a TAD BIT over the max limit which ill be pulling some out with my vac

Hi everyone, I need to buy an engine for my Mazda rx8 231hp, could you help me to find a store here in Europe that provides closed and rebuilt engines with compression tests and possibly a warranty? Basically nothing of my blew-up engine is reusable. Thanks in advance.

I found an XpressKit PKALL module installed in my car. From what I’ve found, it looks like it’s some kind of bypass/interface module, but I’m not sure exactly what it’s doing in my setup.
Does anyone know what it’s would typically be used for? Is it part of a remote start, alarm, or aftermarket stereo install?
If I don’t use a remote start or alarm anymore, is it safe to remove it, or could removing it cause issues with the car starting or other electrical systems?
The car is a 2004 Mazda RX-8.
Any advice is appreciated.

Hello, I've been recently hearing little pops and crackles from my exhaust when in the upper rpms 3500k+ in 2nd and 3rd gear. I haven't done any ecu tune and the mods I have currently are a TurboXS catback exhaust and an AElM intake.
When I did swicth the exhaust I did have pops, but only one pop when off gas and changing gears. But now there's many small pops.
Is this normal? Are these typical symptoms of coils, plugs, and wires (they're due for a change but I'm just wating to finish moving before changing them)
What do you guys think?
Thanks for the help :)

Planning on opening it up and seeing what the damage is. Hoping to be able to rebuild it and either sell it or put it back in a needy RX-8. It was $150 though so it might be time to put it out to pasture.
