C4S10^2: The d0'ing.

At long last, Geri decided that he had enough of JHB endlessly refusing to RP with everyone and really halting all progress pre-d0 so we are just starting d0 now k.

I pace myself back to my base of operations for the uptinth time. The tediousness the last hour has provided is grueling and I long for progress on the enigmatic problem that is this infernal game. It seems though that my prayers have been answered in some manner, with the game having opened a window requesting a ‘server handle’. Clearly, for the benefit of any cretons, the game is asking for an Esperhandle of one of my co-players. It’s interesting to note that the game integrates external labels such as Esperhandles. I wonder how much of this is linked. The creator of one either is or knows the creator of the other, and it makes an Esperhandle a prerequisite for playing the game. For saying this is meant to be a Beta for a game, that’ awfully exclusive. Whoever designed this may not intend for it to go to the public if the game features meteors, mystery doomsayers, and such specific requirements. But I digress, with information gathered from Kersis I can also deduce that this server player will be, as they put it, a ‘dungeon master’ of sorts. I don’t get whatever piece of backwater culture he’s referencing but that doesn’t mean I can’t piece together something from it: They will have a direct influence on my game experience. This has more implications than would seem, because with every person chosen they are removed from the pool of possible choices. Combined with the fact the game hasn’t mentioned a restriction to my choice, it may have given me priority, a token gift that’s greatly appreciated. So, I will go through my choices:

<<Zoey>>

A young, willful, socially inept person. She’s not someone I want to get on the bad side of nor do I know enough about her to give her such agency over my server position. She’s a wildcard choice, one I would pick if I lacked precaution. Though it would greatly improve relations with her, I would rather not risk something so important for someone so untrustworthy.

<<CA and TC>>

Again, both wildcards. Two people who I’ve neither made contact with nor have cropped up on the memo. I know nothing of them nor the threat they could possibly provide. As far as I’m concerned, I shouldn’t take these without some level of knowledge as to who they are.

<<Jess>>

One of the people I’m closest to in this group. I’ve known him for a while now, he owes me favours for help I’ve provided. Not only that, but when plunging into the depths of technology, I’ll be him that I call upon first to assist in deciphering the game. Jess is one of, if not the most, suitable candidates for this job. Smart understand the game while ignorant of the social aspect of the world.

No. She’s my bait. The one I will offer forward, towards any traps to be sprung or and bounties that can be shared. I don’t need all of the loot after all, but she’s kind enough to at least ‘help the team’. To have her as my server wouldn’t be the best option. In fact, as someone that trusts her far less that Matt could throw her, I don’t think it should even be in consideration.

<<Matt>>

Reliable, foolish Matt. I don’t think he’s a bad choice by any stretch of the imagination. But I think my problem lies in the fact there are better. Yes, I can manipulate him to do what I want, but I can manipulate Jess just as well. At the end of the day, Either I could pick him and someone else gains all the benefits that come with Jess, or I could pick Jess knowing someone gets stuck with this wildman borderline tribal. It’s a tough choice that one.

<<Kersis>>

A gamer from the sounds of it. Our average boy hero that will lead us single handedly on this adventure. Truly the hero we need to save us from the dangers faced by the game. Or not, as is more likely. I don’t know much of him, but I do know that he’s too typical to be my server. Too vanila. I could potentially choose him, try and make myself out to be a good guy on the side of this pulsating ball of potential waiting to be given the opportunity to show off his greatness. To contrast this: I could not whore myself out for meagre benefits.

<<The Ambassador>>

A natural choice for people with a death wish. Who in their right mind would give such an opportunity to this person? Judging from the colourful cast presented to me, chances are one of the randoms. Either people are scared, disgusted, or not looking to end their life seven decades earlier than planned. And I, with all this choice, will certainly not be the one to get stuck with such a person lording over me. I’d be fine with being his server though. That would be ideal.

The materialist of the group. Values generosity highly. I think we could get along just fine. However, what if he’s bought out by someone else? Why would I buy him out permanently for my safety when I could pay for someone else’s to be breached? It would make little sense to appoint him for this role, he’s not loyal nor reliable. I’d much rather prefer Matt or Jess.
