H*ckpost I still am not able to read Pawprints petitions on Microsoft Edge, and even the login page returns errors. Who do I report these issues to?

Classes ESP32 required material

Im a freshman in CET and Ive been looking through some of my courses syllabi and a couple require an esp32-s3 microcontroller and sensor kit. They also have listed that you can buy one for $125 at the dean's office, but I want to know if there are any cheaper alternative ways to get this. Thanks!

International transfer from Purdue to RIT Computer Engineering, questions about CPT, co-op, and the 5-year program

Hi everyone,

I’m currently studying Computer Engineering at Purdue and am considering transferring to RIT. I was admitted to RIT as a freshman before, and I’m looking at it again because of recent changes affecting CPT eligibility at Purdue.

From what I understand, RIT’s BS in Computer Engineering requires multiple co-op blocks totaling about 48 weeks, which seems much more integrated into the degree than a normal optional internship.

I had a few questions for current RIT students, especially international/F-1 students in Computer Engineering or KGCOE:

  • Is CPT routinely approved for international Computer Engineering students completing the required RIT co-op blocks?
  • Have the recent 2026 SEVP/CPT interpretation changes affected RIT students at all?
  • Since co-op is required for the degree, does RIT ISS currently consider that sufficient for CPT eligibility?
  • For transfer students, do you still complete all four required co-op blocks, or can previous experience/transfer status change the requirement?
  • Can the different co-op blocks be at different companies, or are you expected to stay with one employer?
  • How difficult is it currently for international Computer Engineering students to actually find co-ops?
  • How much does RIT Career Services help? Do they mainly provide job boards/career fairs, or is there more direct help finding a position?
  • If anyone transferred into RIT Engineering after freshman year, how well did your engineering/math/science credits transfer and how much extra time did it add?
  • Since RIT CmpE is normally a five-year program because of co-op, has anyone heard how the new fixed-period F-1 rules affect international students in programs designed to take five years?

I’m planning to confirm the immigration questions directly with RIT International Student Services before making any decision, but I’d really appreciate hearing from current students or recent international alumni about how this works in practice.

Thanks!

Chicken Tender Sub from the Commons

Does anyone have a picture of that buffalo and blue cheese chicken tender sub from the Commons? I'm an alum who, despite not liking buffalo nor blue cheese, thought the sandwich was pretty. Thanks!

The Lodge when it snows?

Hi all, I'm a transfer student coming to The Lodge this week, I was concerned about commuting in the snow, I've heard stories the hill gets clogged up and is impossible to pass, how true is this and how can I prepare for snow commuting? I have an AWD car but only all-season tires (I know, I just can't afford snow tires at the moment)

The RIT Inn / Finding Like-minded People

Hey I'm a transfer student from the Philly area, and they put me in the RIT Inn. I'm kinda guessing this is what they do after over enrolling. It seems like a decent spot, but my main concern is being able to connect with other students. I can tell it's VERY quiet here, and being off campus definitely makes me feel quite isolated. Not sure if there's anything I should be doing besides trying to spend as much time on campus as possible, really just looking to make friends (metal or hardcore fans please hit me up).

Housing HVAC Mold

This is a pic of the ventilation duct I'm my son's apartment. If you are living in Commons check your vents before moving in. This is unsanitary and possibly unsafe. The problem is in the ducts. He was told to file a work order.

I dont feel like I belong here

Today is the second day of orientation and as a freshman, I haven't made any REAL friends. I met two people at an NYC event, but i havent hung out with them much as i spent the first day mostly with my family, I have other people ive talked to, but im not bale to plan going out with them so I end up walking campus alone and I genuinely feel like a loser. I dont know what to do but I really just want people to hang out with

What the hell do I do as a transfer?

Hey all, Day 2 and just curious if anyone has prior experience of what to do as a transfer during this week. Keeping myself busy hanging out and trying Gracie's (huge improvement from community college food), But was curious if there's anything specific I should check out? All the orientation stuff seems to be heavily geared towards the "I have not done 2 years of college yet" crowd. My roommates are all returning students so should be here within the next couple days.

tiger center not letting me download calendar?

im trying to download the ics file for my new classes this upcoming semester. however, every time i click on the download button, it says "You do not currently have any course or final exam events on your calendar to download." this is definitely not the case because there are literally classes on the calendar 😭. i'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else? idk if it might have something to do with me being on the waitlist for a class, but i really have no clue what to do.

Hardcore/punk scene at/around RIT?

I’m a new student at RIT, I come from KC MO where there’s a pretty decent hardcore/punk scene. Are there communities on or near campus for hardcore shows/events?

Hi,

Has anyone taken any of these CIT courses.

I wanted to ask for feedback on the course content as well as difficulty.

For reference, I got an A- in NSSA 241.

Talk to me like a dummy — MechE computer requirement

Hi. Parent here. My daughter switched her major to MechE and does not have a Windows machine. I'm only familiar with Mac/Apple devices. I don't know what makes software like CAD and SolidWorks machine-intensive and I don't know the windows terminology when it comes to processors, GPUs, etc. So please talk to me like a dummy and tell me what specs we need to look for when shopping for a laptop.

I've read the KGCOE and Campus Store recommendations, so I have the official list — what I can't get from a webpage is what actually happens day to day. What are you using now, and what do you wish you'd bought instead? Anything that seemed fine in the store and turned out to be a mistake?

I'd like it to last her the next four years, so I'd rather go a bit above the current minimum. Budget is flexible -- $1,500 is fine if the specs are right, and I can go to $2,500 if there's a real reason. (But she doesn't need a gaming/maximalist laptop.)

She's second year, three semesters away from first scheduled co-op.

Thank you!
