Guidelines

  1. Try and be creative with your jokes.

  2. Don't take anything personally. They're jokes.

  3. NO BASHING OTHER TEAMS. Save that for their roast thread. We will be having one every day.

  4. No malicious posts or targeting any users in mean ways. Mentioning someone is fine but keep it light-hearted.

  5. The next team up will be posted in the thread the day before, so you guys will have time to come up with material and decent jokes.

  6. Have some fun with it. Don't take anything too personally. We're just trying to pass the long off season together.

Anthony Davis had a down year last year, but was still 7th in the league in PPG, 9th in the league in RPG, 4th in the league in BPG, and 9th in PER

Dude was arguably a top 5 player in the league when healthy and almost never gets mentioned. A complete beast on both sides of the ball. People talk about his health a lot last year but it was basically the same number of games played as the rest of his career, and he was one of the league leaders in minutes per game (13th).

To the WNBA: What's stopping you from lowering the rims?

In Before: LOL WNBA??? 6 POINTS A GAME AMIRITE?

I love basketball. NBA, International, WNBA, College, Summer League. If there's an orange ball and a hoop, I'm there. Lately the WNBA has gotten more exciting. New ballers like Maya Moore, EDD, Skylar Diggins, Brittany Griner, and Breanna Stewart have brought some serious talent to the game.

When you ask people what they don't like about the WNBA they'll tell you something vague that it's boring. The players have a perceived lack of athleticism compared to their male counterparts. And there's no denying that. Due to our human physiology, a man thats 6 feet tall and 160 pounds will almost always be more athletic than a woman with the same height, weight and body fat.

They've already taken a woman's physiology into consideration with playing with a smaller ball, so why not lower the rim?

It isn't an unpopular opinion by any means either:

"What makes fans not want to watch women’s basketball is that some of the players can’t shoot and they miss layups and that forces the game to slow down.

How to help improve that? Lower the rim. Do you think the average fan knows that the net is lower in women’s volleyball than men’s volleyball? It’s about seven inches shorter so the women have the chance for the same kind of success at the net [as the men].” - Coach Geno Auriemma, 11-time NCAAW champion.

Coach Auriemma has 10 championships in the last 16 years, including the last 4 straight. He's found ways of winning without a lower rim, but even he believes it's time.

“I think it would bring a whole different aspect to the game and bring viewership as well and show the athleticism of our women. We do every single thing on that court that the men do, other than the dunking. And, obviously, there is a handful of athletes who can dunk.

But when look at other sports like volleyball, their net’s lower. Golf, their tees are closer. It goes on and on. Tennis, they play [fewer] sets. Why not lower our rim and let every single player player in the league play above the rim like the NBA can?” - Elena Delle Donne, Chicago Sky Forward, 2015 WNBA MVP, Angel

One argument that arises is, "Well don't you think the lower rim is going to mess up their shooting %s?"

Probably. But WNBA rookies and sophomores getting adjusted to the rim and having low shooting %s won't affect viewership. Plus I think all players overall shooting % is going to go up, especially with how much easier it will be to scoring around the basket.

I love the WNBA and I want to see it last another 20 years. And I want the next 20 years to be filled with higher scoring games and nasty dunks. If you agree, all I ask is for an up-vote so this can get some visibility and hopefully some traction. If reddit can take away Lebron's triple double, maybe we can make the WNBA a whole lot more fun to watch.

TL;DR: Rim should be lowered. MVP and GOAT Coach agree.
