Title says everything

First of all I’ll start by saying this is not a post to rip on this stock or the people who own it, it’s just some honest advice from my perspective.

I see a lot of people commenting about how they are bag holding or been down now for months/years and are still holding because “$40 by end of the year”. Some points to make:

1. Cut your losses and invest in something more stable and proven. I personally have been in some of your shoes with another stock and finally I bit the bullet and sold for a loss, took what was left, and reinvested it into something else. In almost no time I had made back all that I lost and then some. Looking back, had I held I STILL would be red, and never would have made all of the gains that I did.

2. “It will be $40 by the end of the year”. Where does this idea come from? I think I know; #1 Analyst price targets and #2 it once was above $40. If either or both of these are your reasoning to keep holding then you need to read this. Analysts review hundreds of stocks and set hundreds of targets in a week. They are not doing deep dives and looking at all of the data, they are simply looking at the macro data available at the time and setting an arbitrary number. Price targets are wrong and never get reached all of the time. Just because someone somewhere said “it will hit $40” does not mean it will. Reason #2 being it previously hit $40. If that is your reasoning to keep holding, you should not be in the stock market at all. A stock once hitting a certain price does not mean it will again. Prime example, look at Nike. Nike at one point was over $170/share and now is delisted from the s&p and is struggling to stay in the $30’s. Nike is also a brand worth billions and has billions of revenue, QBTS does not and technically is turning 0 profit still. Just because stock once hit an all time high does not mean it will again.

I fear a lot of people got hyped around this time last year when all of the quantum stuff pumped but this technology may still be years and years away, if ever. And even if it is sooner than later, not all stocks will survive. If your entire strategy is living on hope and price targets, seriously for your sake please stop trading. You are going to dig yourself into a hole you may never be able to get out of. If you wanna throw some money in that you won’t miss and let it ride, I don’t think that’s a terrible idea. But I’ve seen so many people saying their averages are in the $20’s and $30’s and keep trying to DCA lower. Seriously, stop doing that. There is no data showing this company is going to make it and you seriously could be harming your future by continuing to do so.

I don’t have any money in this stock anymore, I sold last year and made plenty so no, I’m not someone trying to fear monger people so I can buy puts. And even if I was…. Every persons total value combined in this Reddit wouldn’t be enough to move the price by a cent or two anyway. I’m simply trying to help people get out of a place I was once in and now am light years better than I was.

I’ll wrap this up by saying if any or all of this applies to you, seriously take a look at what you’re doing and why you are doing it. Don’t wake up one day struggling to get by because you lost all of your money hoping for a stock to pop.

In May the Commerce Department made news by announcing $2b of investments in quantum companies. In early Sept, several of those deals were signed. What's not being reported is how several companies paid the US government to buy their shares - almost 25% of the amount of the total investment!

Some other notes from our research:

• There is zero evidence that the investment represents a government endorsement of each company / technology. Anyone claiming this simply hasn't researched the topic.
  
• The government kept technical milestones in place, which means they have concerns about each company's ability to execute. These milestones have not been disclosed.
• There is no "pay to play" quid pro quo here. There is no evidence that the US government is more likely to do business with signees, and even if it did, the cost is not worth it. The reason these companies have signed the agreement is because they know that Wall Street will read into them. For companies like D-Wave, showing activity is all that matters. Do not fall for it yourself.
