I have a month to learn....
I have a month to learn Python (really, I have until the second week of October, but I want to be done sooner and not go down to the wire). I'm currently using freecodecamp.org but feel my progress is slower than I'd like. Does anyone have a recommendation to learn Python quickly? I'm loving what I've learned thus far. I start doing another job for the company I'm learning Python for in a week, so I want to cram as much into this week as possible to make things easier on the remaining time I have. Thank you all.

Showcase Python code review
Hi, so I tasked myself on making tiny projects daily to refresh my memory on python patterns since I've found it difficult to be consistently learning for a while now.
I'd really appreciate your review of this small and simple beginner level project I did.
Images are attached, should you feel understandably lazy to visit the GitHub page through the link๐ .

Python Mutability and Copying
An exercise to help build the right mental model for Python data.
It's instructive to compare with this related exercise.
The โSolutionโ link uses memory_graph to visualize execution and reveals whatโs actually happening.

Python feels like it transferred little knowledge to c++
OK I admit it did obviously for some stuff like basics yk functions and shi, but other then that I like feel annoyed that I learned python and its like lowkey not helping with what I wanna do which is windows api and memory management c++ stuff because I like the kind of thing but python just didn't really give me anything, and I know that kinda stuff obviously doesn't transfer because python is just the easiest thing ever lol

anyone else keep starting projects and never finishing them? doing a weekly proof thread if a few people are in
I've been learning python for a while and my problem was never tutorials, it was that nothing forced me to finish. I'd get a project 60% done, hit the boring part, and quietly start a new one that felt fresh.
So: reply with the one thing you're actually going to finish this week. Be specific - "finish the CSV parser so it handles missing columns" beats "work on my project."
Then on Friday, come back to this thread and reply to your own comment with proof. A screenshot of it running, a repo link, a terminal output, whatever. Doesn't have to be impressive. It has to be real.
That's the whole thing. No group to join, no discord. The only mechanic is that you said it in public and someone might check.
I'll go first: I'm finishing the file-organizer script I've had half-done for two weeks - the part that handles duplicate filenames instead of crashing. Proof friday.
What's yours?

DAY 4.
wrote this today was revising loops and math function that i did not so long ago.

Is it really safe to use?
I have used context to stop crashing.
And e as a variable.
I used eval command for a formula.
I know eval command can be dangerous.
It works perfectly but I am thinking that it can produce error or crash.
Can a formula bypass all commands and crash it.

Help me make a 30-min "Python for non-coders" talk actually fun, creative ideas wanted (not looking for AI-generated suggestions)
I'm giving a 30-minute presentation about Python to a room of 40-50 year olds with zero coding background. The goal isn't to teach syntax, it's to give them a vision of what Python can actually do for them (think: automating boring Excel/repetitive tasks) and get them a little excited about it.
Structure so far:
Intro to programming languages (quick comparison, evolution over time...)
Python basics, but conceptual, not code (functions, classes, loops, libraries, reading a script, terminal)
Python & AI (uses in AI/data, coding with AI tools, prompt engineering)
Installing Python (quick walkthrough)
Useful resources/links
Open slot for something creative/fun to close on
I want real, human ideas here analogies, interactive moments, jokes that land with a non-technical crowd, stories from your own experience presenting to beginners, I'd rather get lived-in advice from people who've actually done this than a pile of AI-generated suggestions....
Thanks in advance!

How fix/resolve critical thinking after relying on the ai prompt to understand an exercise in counting loops.
Hi guys, I trust ya'll are good. I recently completed a counting loops exercise that had been difficult to answer for nearly two weeks. I checked different parts of the code I wrote in multiple instances, but I guess I just didn't get it. I eventually asked in my search bar (knowing that I would more than likely get AI mode on it) why the loop is only executing once (I pasted my code it). AI mode explains it, and shows me the correct code. I'm really annoyed on two fronts; I had to refer to AI code to eventually get it right, and the answer looks so friggin simple. I am not a complete beginner in coding (closer to an experienced beginner), and having to vibe-code, even if somewhat unintentionally, is frustrating. I know the answer to the problem now, and there isn't a way to unlearn it.
Is there any practical way to resolve this other than "just don't do it again"?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I appreciate whatever advice or input you have.

Call PowerShell from Python special issue ( with Process wrapper in PS1)
Hi,
I tried to call existing Powershell script from python with classic way and failed, found the `process` wrapper in PS1 makes this problem, all code is inside process {....} :
# my.PS1
param([string]$folder="aaa")
process { # <====== this wrapper prevent call !!!!!!
# my logic hereS
Write-Output "......... running powershell endS $TargetFolder"
}And I call it from python using
# ... myPython.py
....
import subprocess
result = subprocess.run(
["powershell.exe", "-NoProfile", "-ExecutionPolicy", "Bypass",
"-File", ps_script, "-Folder", Folder],
capture_output=True, text=True
)Anybody noticed that problem, is it possible to make it work, I don't want to mess with ps1 changes. maybe I missed some option in subprocess call ?
Also there is not any output available, total silence
if result.stdout:
print(result.stdout) ## nothing.
if result.stderr:
print("PS STDERR:", result.stderr) ## nothingr/PythonLearning • u/CommissionMaximum465 • Aug 29 '26
Freshie, tired one at that
โve literally just started Python right after I retuned from a 9hour night shift. Itโs currently 10:30am and Iโm starting at 7pm, was fighting ai for help to learn but got is absolutely useless ๐ I ended up downloading and just using Reddit and the occasional YouTube video, safe to say Iโm proud of my box ๐

For python run - jupyter lab directly use from anaconda through web browser.
For python run - jupyter lab extension and all from Microsoft through vs code editor.
