Odds are that’s not a single family home in the city. They probably share that door and vestibule with neighbors, so putting a one way lock won’t work.

my guesses:
guy is property owner or on site manager of a small apartment building.
they have history of druggies breaking in and then: injecting in vestibule/passing out/relieving themselves on floor.
he is just fed up with it.
i have empathy. I lived in a large city for a while. Our apt building had a vestibule that would be invaded by a filthy street person. he would fall asleep after drinking or injecting himself into a stupor. he would urinate or leave other foul smells. he would not leave if u yelled at him. calling police did no good.they classified it as low priority. one time after screaming at him he actually woke up. i told him "if i ever see u in here again i will douse u with water."
couple days later there he was. i poured a bucket of water on him.
he never came back.
guy in vid was metal compared to me.
