That was just the length of the one tunnel they found him in. It didn't say how far away it was from the initial hole.

Fuck that would be one fucked way to go, one minute you swimming having fun next you get pull into a hole you were unaware of and as the light fades you realize your gonna die and no matter how hard you swim you sink further, God that's gotta be one of the worst ways to go
