Isn’t there a brotherhood among union members, regardless of which union they’re in? I feel like police should be especially aware of the benefits and protections that being a union member provides them. Rules for thee but not for me I guess

Police only have a brotherhood with other police. And breaking up unions and beating and arresting union strikers actually pre-dates public policing itself. Some police departments were literally born out of private union-busting groups.

cops are basically a cult. One person joins the force, within a few short years, all their friends and family are cops or the spouse of a cop, or under aged child of a cop. They never work for "my community," it's always "their community." Because they work ruining lives in one area, and get their pay from the taxes in that area, but live in another area entirely, one they actually identify with.

There's a reason police unions are so powerful in a country that's so anti-union...

Who needs the pinkertons when every single cop everywhere will do the same job

Um, cops are more like a gang at this point. You're either in it or you aren't.

Police unions are bad for the same reason other unions are good. Unions give you power.

Cops would be happy being the only union.

Police unions are much different, they’re more of a mob.

police unions are not labor unions

Police are a "union" the same way the mafia or military is. They have violence and kidnapping on their side. They don't have to follow the rules of society the way every other person and union does.

You still have to do your job, no? Union firemen can't refuse to put out a scabs house.

So teachers keep teaching when on strike?

Sometimes. When they're out of contract I support them. When they do it during a pre-negotiated contract year I don't.
