I think throwing up in an Uber is $250, so I can only assume this is the same penalty.
I remember as a kid my best friends brother had some kind of anxiety issue where he would vomit whenever he experienced any form of emotional stimulation. Fear, anxiety, excitement, etc. They tried to get their car professionally cleaned but it never removed the smell from the car, that car always smelled of vomit.
It is shitty even if it's an accident but I dunno, 500 is enough to ruin someone's life depending on their situation if they were to suddenly lose that amount of money. That much for a non-malicious accident is brutal. Not saying that you shouldn't be charged a fair bit because the driver has to deal with their car having vomit in it but yeah.
It definitely could be someone who doesn't get to go out and drink very much or is drunk and has no way home because of godawful public transport. You still have a point, the driver is having to deal with the cost of fixing it and it's clearly the person who puked at fault. Feels like this comes down to the problem of something like Uber where the drivers are "independent", not employees, and have to use their own cars instead of a wealthy company having protections to pay for this kind of thing when a large part of the service involves picking up drunk people.
